Hoping to get the weight down to 500kg's with 250bhp from the engine for a nice power to weight ratio.

Must get my ass in gear and sort it out.
No new updates I'm afraid but I hope to get this project back on track, until the altezza sells progress will be slow but next month should see some movement on this.

No lad, decided to keep it and thank god I did, not that I don't have to pay for silly things like insurance, tax, nct, petrol etc for a road car I can dump the woman into this ;)
-
Tidy work how are the trottle bodys going to work with the engine back in the bulk head
-
It'll work fella, already planned out, just gotta get stuck in now...
-
great build lad, very interesting, 500kg , 250bhp, sweet
-
Hope to raise this from the ashes very soon, will be putting the SRX8 on hold until it is built...

So while I was up in Gripfab checking out the RX8 I got a sneaky pic of the KP61, soon as the last few bits are done on the RX8 she is up, been sitting idle for way too long !
John keeps joking about fitting a 2J, well at least I hope he is joking :D

I say nay to the 2J idea, it doesn't seem right for some reason....

Not much has been happening with building the RX7 and RX8, they have been soaking up all my funds tbh but what has really put the project on hold is the running gear, myself, john and brendan were looking at using the beams setup but then starting looking at rotaries, 1uz etc So after months of weighing up the options we decided to go with the beams setup in the end, I feel a little disappointed to be honest but Brendan is convinced it is the best option as it will be the most driveable option and should be the best crack...
While we were messing around with the beams we split the engine and box to find a lightweight TRD Flywheel and a TRD Clutch, the box has some non toyota sealer on it too so gonna split that next and then the engine for a health check, fitting the itb's and she should be good for 250bhp n/a...

Cool job what kinda engine management set up are u goin using
Be very interestin to see what kinda power it makes with them
-
Honestly I'd say you ave gone the right route with the beams!! Rotary would be savage but with a 250hp lump this will be an anti Christ and you would be able to drive it all out!! Would be a hure to put something in it that would leave it kind of undriveable!!!

I'm running a very similar setup to a lad from AE86IRL and he made 250bhp @ flywheel... Will sort management when the time comes :)

Cheers dude, ya we were looking at a 1UZ but when we started factoring in the diff, size of wheels needed, how it would affect the bodywork etc it all just became a nightmare, this setup will allow it to be great fun...

That is awesome in fairness, new plan, sold the Beams, we are pricing up the engine for this now but the plan is that it would be the biggest build I have taken on to date, all fab work will be done by Stone Motorsport and well I ain't telling ya who is doing the engine cause then yee will know what it is and I don't want to jinx it :)
Can admin rename this thread for me please to "Team Chihuahua KP61"
