the wing looks perfect on the car. top job.

the flames are photoshopped

-
Thanks, andrew, it turned out well!
-
Hmm i think painting or wrapping the plexi for the spolier would help. How did you cut it?
-
he cut it with his razor sharp micky
-
Ah i like it see through for the moment. If I get bored of it I'll probably wrap it. I cut it with a jigsaw with new 1mm blades
-
Love this!
Where did you get the wing?
-
Thanks!
Got it from some guy second hand. I think it's the japspeed one, or very similar.
-
Thangs are slow atm with the rubbish weather. Still not starting great. In need of a new battery too. The interior is saturated and getting mouldy. Any tips on how to make that better? Dehumidifier?
I Plan to fit the front wide arches soon and make the car more functional.
-
Are your seals around the windows leaking? Is your soft top ok? It shouldn't be leaking that bad unless one of your seals are gone.
-
Ah yeah the roof is fucked. A new one is on the list. I'm just wondering is there a way of drying out the interior?
-
Dehumidifier and leave the fans on hot and take it for a drive. Try and get an outdoor cover for it in the meantime!
-
Sweet. Killing me seeing it go mouldy :(
-
A friend had an old e30, he used to do that but leave it sitting for a few hours with the heating on full blast and the dehumidifier. It worked but he used quite a lot of petrol letting it sit running all day.
-
I use kitty litter in a pair of tights to keep the car from getting damp when its parked up but i have a hardtop so the damp is not to bad. Also has to be kitty litter with silica
-
Nice one haha I think I'll need a dehumidifier though, my carpets are saturated.

Finally in the dry. Working on it now and then and trying things to get it starting. Going to tidy up some bits on it like the front arches. Clean up the interior and all
You'd miss buying car parts!
Still cute though.

I miss when things were n/a and simple!

Did a compression test on her.
Should be between 100 and around 120 when the engine is cold. 1 cylinder was 100 and the rest were under 50.
Fuck.
The Internet says that sometimes piston rings can get stuck if the engine was sitting up for a while, which mine was. I think maybe a new engine is in order, one that was proven working. It'd be less hassle than trying to figure out if it's the HG or rings or valve seats and I'm getting fed up now.
-
Shit that sucks man! Your having a real run of shit luck with it! Try keep the motivation going it'll be worth it in the end!
-
Ah stop haha.
It's tough! Mightn't be able to get a new engine for a while anyway. And has to be one that hasn't been sitting up, that I know was recently running. Hopefully that will be the end of my problems.
-
After nearly putting up the turbo kit for sale, I'm going to give it another bash.
Plan is, engine out and stripped to put new piston rings in, new water pump and other necessary gaskets and seals.
Re make the intercooler piping so I can close the bonnet.
Remake the downpipe with a screamer pipe.
And I need a new starter motor 👍🏻
And my budget is near nill 💪🏼
-
so your just going to basically rebuild the current motor?
Probably the best bet as you never know what your going to get with a second hand engine that hasnt been ran in a long time.
Just as a matter of interest, are your HLA's very noisey? Mine have become a bit loud and tried putting in treatment for it, quietened down for a while, then I left it sitting for a month and was back to normal.
-
If you break it I'll take the hair products
-
Dave, yeah they are a bit noisy ever since i put the turbo on, however It is full of oil. Usually, you just need to top it up.
-
ah ok, it was STP I put through my oil. I'll try doing another oil and filter change to see how I get on and put the STP through again.

Turbo mx5 Take 3
Everything in the bay is disconnected. Just need to disconnect everthing from the gearbox and she should be ready to take out!

Grind down the manifold to make it flat. It was a bit warped. This should sort out the exhaust leaks under the bonnet. I plan on making a new downpipe with a screamer pipe if theres room for one.
http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/...pshfb0u8g7.jpg
Thinking up some ideas for a new intake too. The air filter was previously right beside the exhaust mani, sucking in all that nice hot air and exhaust fumes :( . Iv some straight 2" stainless there and Ill grab a short filter and throw it on.

And, need to fit this, a christmas present from the girlfriends parents, to feel max race car.

Good newwws everyone.
I think the problem was awful timing and warn out starter. Bad news is I didnt have to take the engine out and now i need more fluids. Oh well.
-
-
Thats a balls you had to take it out to figure that out! But it's still cheaper than a rebuild!
-
Good news, the starter motor works. Bad news is the compression is still down. Good news is it's deffo a problem with either the valve seats or springs. So I just need to get the head looked over. Not a big job. But while I save, the engine will go back in. Who knows, it might start better with the timing corrected and perhaps a good spark of fuel will seat the valves back in. Or something.
-
-
Getting close now! Got the engine back in without a hitch and all thats left to hook up is exhaust, turbo and plugs. Still a bit of work to be done on the manifold.

What's the story with it now?
