Just wondering if anybody knows the best and cheap way to get extra lock? Thanks
.....
Plenty a lock there..you'd wanna learn first before you need extra lock and mods like that..coils, welder and seat time
E39s have reasonably good lock out of the box. I you wanted to, add some wheel spacers and cut back the lockstops abit and it'll give you abit more.
An M5 steering box will help too as its quicker.
The front suspension setup on them is abit tricky to get loads of lock without ending up with a stupid amount of postive camber on the leading wheel so easiest thing to do for a start is fit some camber adjustable top-mounts or camber plates.
Good stiff coilovers are the most important thing you'll do to a 5 series to make it a good slider though as they are very soft to begin with!
A shorter diff would probably be the next in line after that like any BM
finally managed how to upload pictures :D So picked up this beemer 523 with tax and test still on it. Got it home and then began the fun part :) First of all I put it up on blocks to make work easier underneath (not most safety conscious person!)

I began by removing the front and rear crash barriers which weighed a fair bit!

I then set upon tackling the inside of the car due to bad weather! Removed seats, sound deadening, windows motors and door cards and anything that added weight really :D

I then got a notion to spray the wheels luminous orange and green and yellow and add the first sticker :D

Thats about it for now due to working nights for the next while, picking up a hydro, bucket seats, harnesses and a deepdish steering wheel friday and i'll change break pads and give it a service for luck :D
Gt a bit of time yesturday so i first of all fitted the welded diff!

I then fitted new break pads. As. The others ones were near metal :D

I then cut out the boot floor whhere the spare wheel was!

I also picked up two 4 point harneses and a hydro :)

Nexht i need to plum up hydro, fit properly the harneses, get more wheels!, wire up the extra fan, remove thermostat, get bucket seats, put on a straight-through exhaust service it, and get some track time :D
No need to remove the thermostat if there's nothing wrong with the the cooling system.
No asfaik now problems hopefully anywyas, :D but would it be not better to take it out dave?
Maybe look into some skinny tires , small wheels too, easier to keep spinning, do a track day, it will show you what else you need , I love strut braces, might be grid to gave a rear one one you have cut the floor out.
Also might not be good to have full straight thru. Exhaust, you might need some back pressure, my old omega 3000 didn't like when I took the cats and middle boxes out. Also places you bring it like model lo might have noise restrictions.
