My uncle sold a car a month ago to France via my paypal.
At first obviously I thought it was completely dodgy but then I couldn't figure out how it could be, I mean how can the money be reversed if you do everything above board?
I know it sounds dodgy and there is a fair chance it is but I'm unsure how it works as a scam with paypal. Once you have the money in cash in your hand, you let the car go, for it to be reversed the buyer would have to open a case with paypal, and if you have done everything above board, ho could they reverse the payment?
Take it from me, do not take the payment through paypal, take a deposit of a couple of hundred by all means, but you want to get all the money in cash when they come to collect the car
It's just safer
100% Scam had the exact same thing sent to me on 2 different cars in the past week.
No it doesn't work, if there is no money in your paypal account paypal will immediately put you in the red for that amount and come looking for the money back. You could put up your own argument but trust me Paypal are a law to themselves and when its the value of a car would you really want to take the chance that you would win?
Definitly a scam! As suggested i asked for a deposit by paypal and cash up front on collection, he declined and backed out!
@driftescort Was this the email address he used? thidek0001@gmail.com
Can someone explain why paypal would reverse it? What reasons would they have?
I know a good few people have been scammed this way already but I never really understood it. If payments could be reversed why would anyone sell using paypal.
My judgement is obviously clouded as we asked the buyer to come and pay cash and he said he was afraid to bring that kind of cash with him. So he paid half the price of the car through paypal and paid the rest in cash on collection.
just dont use paypath meet in someplace like england get em to pay cash dude safest i no lad hu done it dis way worked out fine  if he doesnt wana do dis = scam
I sold my s15 to a lad in France he sent me a deposit and sent me all his flight details and boat details. Thought it was a scam but it wasn't I collected him from the airport and and he went on his way to the boat. And I got phone calls from Finland and one from Norway haha mad shit :)
Sure if he is coming over to collect the car just tell him to pay the whole lot in cash when he gets to you. Best way in my opinion. If he is not willing to do that then he is just wasting your time.
