savage , well if thats your plan defo go for it........
thats the plan i think drifter
I can see why it would be a big advantage in an E30 as there isn't a huge amount of space in the engine bay to fit a big six with a reasonable amount of the engine not out over the front wheels but on an E36, the balance isn't bad at all with an S50.
Still would be a nice idea though especially if they bring in rules about cutting bulkheads :(
My favorite 4-pot in an E36 would still be this though!

Keep it in the family, drop a m3 engine into it!!!!
Forget an sr2O in one, just go for an m3! As the Barry Motorsport lads have shown, and now chuck too, m3's rock out with there cock out!!
I think ya should go with the m3 also ,
because it will end up cheaper ,
s50 is lighter than sr20 ; s50 333lbs and sr20 410lbs
more horse power standard ,
more reliable as less to wrong with (turbo etc) ,
simple straight forward swap , so wont take you as long so you get more seat time quicker .
Best of luck which either way ya go with it man :)
thanks for all the info lads and awith the rule with the bulkhead
id stick it in if u can do most of the fabrication work and wiring yourself if uve to pay some one to do it would be cheaper going the m3 route as afaik most of it bolts straight in
If its for a track car then forget the sr20 and go for the rb25..
Like heres one I did lastweek in an omega

Loads of room, and LOADS of torque!!
it would only be for track mad to start drifting legally
