rare! if its knocking like that a polish will hardly do it, its not the end of the world crank re grind and bearings would 300, if ur up for ripping it urselfQuote:

i suppose..... there was scoring on my crank when i was rebuildin my own and it polished out....
then again i didnt rattle the bottom end.......
sounds big endy but it is rare for them to be rattling strait from start up like that normally rattle for a sec or 2 then settle out and only comes in that loud on down revs from around 1500 or above i can call down moro man and have look if you want

Do you have a oil relocation kit, check there isn't a blockage or the filter has blocked or something retarded, because the last think you want is for the engine to knock another set of bearings out once you've repaired it.
Sadly though, a light knock normally scores the crank, if its really knocking, don't expect to have much bearings to look at, and you'll have to clean the motor out and personally, check the oil pump for signs of damage.
The Cranks are surface treated, if you grind it, don't use it in a performance application, because the cracks have a rolled radius for a start.
Time to go for a 1jz :)

no oil cooler on it, the whole engine is, sorry, WAS bog standard... Not the most mechanically minded person goin so I'll wait for one of the lads to give it a proper once over to find out what caused it...
But yeah.... seems such a shame to just put another SR in :)
