it was a thrust oil cooler..

engine was cleaned down today..
so putting it back together tomorrow and throwing the engine in..

all bits washed and some more new bits ready to go in..

Did you measure the bore of the con-rods when torqued up ? Did you check the line bore of the bock ?

he means did you torque up the caps on the con rods and measure the inside of the hole if the rods were over heated or run for a period of time with the bearings gone the hole can be gone out of shape causing odd pressuers or loosenes in one or more spot on the crank causing bearing failure,

and by the line bore i pruseme he ment that the bores (cylinders) are 100% in line and square to the crank journals if not the rod will be at a slight angle to the crank and wear one side of the bearing

Your 50% right Gem.. The con rods go oval form the pounding and heat. If there not re honed they will cause instant bearing failure again. The line bore is the main bearing caps and straightness through them.
