Short Shifters
When I was at the Academy Day I was in the PS13..
I found the car easy to drive...
Now that I have the 180, (not that I've driven many miles in it) I think the gear stick feels like a tooth pick in comparison to the PS13.
The PS13 had a razo knob on it, and my 180 has the standard gear knob.
Does it sound like the PS13 had a quick shift? As it felt slightly more weighted compared to trying to slot the tooth pick in the 180 into gear.
Anyone give me a run down of the Pro's and Con's?
Less travel? Does it make it feel better?
Where can I get a Quick Shift?...
Thanks,
Thomas

could be that it had one alright, but if your gears feel way out then i think your gear selector might be shot too... quick shifts are the job though, defo worth their money. think its around the 40% less throw which is alot when driving. and gears feel way tighter obviously. i had a short shifter in my eg9 back in the days and it was the best mod i done to it. totally changed the car... well worth it.
i still wouldnt rape my gearbox too much if i had one though.
apexi do em for small money iirc.

Anyone else hate short shifters? I'd never get one personally.

cant stand them tbh. Dont see the point of having to concentrate on gear changes so u dont miss them! Order whatever bushings are in the lever mech, best thing i did to my ae86, makes it feel like a new box
-
depends on make too,but they can make alot of noise too
-
hate the things, had one in the car before and couldnt stand it
-
i dont like the things at all...they make it way easier to miss a gear especially when drifting...would never put one in my car
-
i made my own rosejointed linkage for the nova, and modded it for short shift aswell, i kept missing gears, so adjusted it back to std throw an its waay beter, i was going to buy one for my s13 cos my selecter is as loose as a wizards sleeve but looked into them an most people say there a ball ache

^^^ im surprised that ppl are against them actually. especially when the s13's have such a crap shifting feel from standard lol. my punto has WAY better gear changing habits than sally has....
personally i love them and if i had some spare cash id have one bought by now... i guess you could find someone that has one fitting and just try it :) you'll find out for yourself then if ya fancy one or not
