s15 diff knocking
story is i put a new subframe in my s15 spec r old 1 was fucked, not sure but think its an lsd diff, and at the start the usual knocking was der but its gettin worse and is at the stage that the back wheels shake going around corners slow and so are causing the back of the car to shake. solutions??? im after getting polly bushings thinking it might be them and will put it in tomoro i hope. could it be the diff? thanks
-
change ur diff oil.... tighten everything up on the back nothing should be shaking:eek:
-
i had this at one stage and discovered that one of the output shafts had pulled its self out of where the c-clip holds it into the diff itself. get under there with the rear wheels off the ground a see if you can pull the output shaft out of the diff a bit. if you put in a different subframe as you say it might be causing the arms to pull on the output shafts. take the diff out put in a new c-clip and tap the output shaft back in to its place and bolt her up. is the subframe off another s15 or something els. mine did it after putting in the driftworks arms, guess they were just set to long and pulling on the shafts.

are your tyres the same sizes?
-
the time we changed the subframe we put all new tyres on it and changed the oil, then came back a week later checked all bolts and oil all was fine. Il check the shaft now and see if i can move it does it do any damage to it?
-
oh the subframe we put in we were told it was off a silvia and the one with the polly bushings is out of a skyline but all measurements ar the same
-
where does the c-clip go if it is that? any pics
-
-
price? And any problems to watch out for if its that?
-
price .......im not a motor factors, maybe 50c if its that, bang in a new one ane see how it goes, you might have just been unlucky. if it goes again its because the arms are to long for the new subframe, or your half shaft is too short or somthing like that. are your arm adjustable or standard?
thats enough questions and answers till you go out and check it :p , so get out there and check it.
