Well iv a 95 e34 525 tds theyre very similar looking engine only 6 cylinder and its the most reliable yoke I ever had
iv an e39 530d for the last month serious yoke on diesel does 50+mpg on the motorway an averages 38 to 45mpg round town..an they're fast enough too!
thanks for the info. i have a rolla now and shes very thirsty :undecided:
Have had a e39 525tds, great yok. In a e46 330d now but I'd much prefer a 530d but beggers can't be choosers
There's a big difference between the 530d and 525tds, not to mention the 318tds engines in terms of power. They aren't bad though once the turbo spools up but just don't expect to go uprooting any trees :p
The 318tds is a 1.7 and like the 525tds sharing it's engine with Opel in the omegas, the Astras got the 1.7 as well.
Cheap to run being a 1.7 for tax and reasonably good on fuel. Fairly reliable other than the odd turbo failure and like the 525tds, the injector pump can act up sometimes.
