new transport truck

Didnt wana put it in the build section as its prety much already built.
this is a little project ive been working on. its a 06 opel movano chassis cab.
and ive built a full tipping recovery body for it. it raises about 3ft at the front and lowers about 1ft at the rear, then two 8ft skids slide out and its a straight run at that angle all the way up. so should take most cars, even the low ones.
the beauty about this truck is it can be driven on a car license and no trailer licence needed either, plus you can do the full 120kph on the motorway instead of the 80kph limit towing a trailer. :D

You can drive it on a car license as long as it weighs less than 3500kg when loaded.

The truck itself should only be about 2 ton or a little more empty, then you've got 1500 kg to play with on the back..

yes, the van is a movano 3500, and with the body it only weighs a little under 2ton, so that leaves 1500kg payload, i dont have any cars that heavy. the crx is just over 800kgs. but another plus side is i can still tow a trailer with another car up to 2500kgs, provided i have a full trailer licence. :D

yea i copped the build when you had your ramp up for sale

how do you raise the body, elbow grease?

any more chassis an cabs like that?usually see them colours on ebay in the uk..

how come you went with single wheel axle?i ve been thinking about going that way on my next one to keep the weight down..

just a tilt body by the looks of it, is it on bearings or what way did you do the tilt at both ends?

thanks guys, im happy out with it. painted it today and put the floor in. ill get pics tomorow.
its a electric hydraulic Tilt bed, theres one large telescopic ram in the center of the truck that raises up two tiers, about 3ft. it pivots on two custom machined bush bearings fitted at the end of each leg of the sub chassis to the main bed. i was going to make tilt and slide but opted out as it would have drove the weight up. because the pivot point is about 4ft from the rear as it tilts up it lowers the rear, then two 8ft ramps make a clean run at about 15' up. which should be enough for most cars.

@japman: i couldnt even give an estimate on a body. as it stands with steel, custom pivot hinges and the hydraulics i already have a couple of grand and a few weeks labour in it. it was for myself so i bit the bullet and did it properly.
