Hey guys, I'm currently trying to get documented on the ProDrift Series in Ireland. I'm having a pretty hard time finding comprehensive materials about it's history and general past. I know it might sound weird to you, but I just can't find when the Prodrift series started? Who was the first winner ( I mean, I know Dmac won in 2006,but was before that?) .

Also, could you point me to some resumees on the 2006 and 2009 seasons? I mean, infos about winners, battles, top16s, tracks, public attendance...stuff like that...I've sent an email to the people from ProDrift but I haven't had an answer from them yet...and their website contains almost no info about past years...If any of you are wondering why I need to know all this stuff, it's because I am trying to write a comprehensive article related to the ProDrift Series and drifting in Ireland generally speaking, and I need as much data as I can possibly get, so people in my country can get a better view on your drifting in Ireland.

Because, as most of you probably noticed (regarding my bad english) I am not from Ireland, nor am I from the UK. I'm on the other side of Europe, more exactly speaking in Romania..So...I'll be glad if any of you offer to help me out.. Cheers!:D

the reason you cant find info on the PD site is because it was revamped about a year two years ago. it used to be prodrift-irl.com(i think).
if your looking for info on irish drifting D-rift is also a championship worth looking at because in its finer days it was seen as somewhat of a stepping stone into PD with some of prodrifts now finest drifters fighting for a championship right down to the last dy of the chapionship

Thanks guys....I've somewhat managed to write about 7 pages about ProDrift until now.. I've read on Speedhunters that ProDrift was started in 2003 by DMac's brother.. Is that right? Any info on how many round there were in 2003/2004/2005 and who won in each year? And is D-Rift around any more? Or was it just a passing thing? Hope me and my photo team get to travel to one of your events next year...altough it's quite bloody far! Good luck to you all!

D-Rift is finished up now

2004 - Mike Deane
2005 - Damien Mulvey
2006 - Darren Mc
2007 - Eric O'Sullivan
2008 - James Deane
2009 - Mike Deane

Was only set up in 2003 so they didn't run a full Series as far as I can remember

I was in the very first D1irl round :) It was in 2003 - 5 rounds from what i can remember, all in Rosegreen. First round was won by Dmac in an RX7 (matt black with graphics - late 80's car if iirc)

I thought Mulvey won the series that year, and after winning the series, TDP sponsored him and built his car for the following year (purple 200sx)

In the 2004 season, it moved away from Rosegreen for the first time. First round was in watergrasshill, then Rosegreen, then Mondello, then rosegreen, and finished in Watergrasshill.

I know someone has above that Mike dean won it in 2004, but i could have sworn that Mulvey won it in 2004 again... could be wrong.

My engine blew half way through the 2004 season and my funds ran out so after 2004 i didn't follow it as much. But at least there is 2 years info for you anyway. :P

As far as i remember it was:

Damien Mulvey 2004 & 2005
Darren MacNamara 2006
Eric O Sullivan 2007
James Deane 2008
Mike Deane 2009

Not 100% sure on 2004, and i dont think there was a champion in 2003 was there?

Just going to copy & paste my reply for you on DW :

I don't think there is any specific website that's going to have that info. The best I can manage is from memory.

Prodrift Series originally started out as D1 Drift Series Ireland back in 2003/4. The series ran for a while under the D1 Drift Series name (in no way affiliated with D1GP) with most events being held at Rosegreen and Watergrasshill karting tracks and one at Mondello.

In 2006, the Prodrift Series name was adopted. For 2006 & 2007, the series remained an exclusively Irish series with events at Rosegreen, Punchestown, Mondello and Nutts Corner. 2006 also saw the introduction of the Prodrift European Series with the SLAM event at Punchestown.

2008 saw the re-introduction of the Prodrift European Series which hosted rounds in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Finland. The Prodrift Irish Series ran as normal but with the closure of Rosegreen at the end of the 2008 season.

2009 saw the European Series become the Super Series, a championship that would host rounds in Ireland and the UK.

For 2010 the Super Series was scrapped whilst Prodrift concentrate on the Irish series.
