Hey All

Just wondering is there any disadvantages to changing a single massive exhaust pipe to a twin set up?? If ya had a 4 inch pipe, what would be equal?? 2 2inch??

Cheers

Well half of 4 is 2 chuck so im sure 2 and 2 would be equal.....:p I also would like to know bout this....! Dan moorehead had a straight pipe back into twins and it sounded awsome.....!

Well you would have more volume in the 4inch pipe
A 24inch long 4inch pipe has twice the volume as 2 x 24inch 2inch pipes.

Cross sectional area is all that matters :)

pi r squared for the 4" gives you 12.56 square inches.

So half that and it's 6.26" of area you need for each of the twin pipes.

6.26/3.14 and square root of that and you get 1.41 for a radius which will mean you need two 2.8" dia pipes. So you'll either need 2" 1/2, 2" 3/4 or 3" pipe.

Too many numbers there for me but does that answer the question

No, you were right. Two 2" pipes have alot less volume than one 4" pipe. I just used alittle bit of old basic maths to find out he needs two 2.8" pipes to have the same as what he has now.

It's just that maths is pretty had to write and explain on a forum :o

Therea more too it than just volume like friction losses, turbulence and all that shit in the different sizes of pipe but fook going that far:rolleyes: :p

Pros would be, the twin pipes sound better.
Cons would be the system would be heavier than a single pipe and it's twice the piping you need to make again if you break it or it falls off :D

Any of the twin pipes i have done were only about 18"to24" long where the back box used to be they sound the job. i have even done some side exit exhaust but these would be purely competition only

My original exhaust was 4 inch actualy I do beleive, with a backbox that did fuck all to quiten it, its got way louder since puttin the twins onto it!

Chuck, I thought you hated twin pipes!?
