http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/jf1.jpg

next up i resprayed it and stickered it and it ended up looking a bit like tis till its untimely death

few days after the last pic was taken i was at a drift pratice day and stuck it on its roof totally destroying the shell

so wit a wrecked shell and very good runninggear i was up in neils shed one niite when we were deciding wat to do wit it reshell it or scrape it and buy another or wat

when he threw the idea out there tat y not build on exterme shell like his ps13 wit an e30shell tis time and the skyline running gear from my old car

so i thought about it for a few days and decided to go wit it and use his old shell tats parked at the side of the house for a few yrs

few pics a the shell as it sits atm looking sorry for itself and needing alot of tlc

as i had alot of small niggly problems wit the old shell i decided tis time around i was going for ultimate reliablty and safety after the way the other shell went after it flipped
so ill be building a full custom cage seam welding the full shell all round and strengthing it
so first thing was first get rid of the rb 20 gearbox and get a rb25 one can take a lot more power and the main shaft is a lot stronger so makes it more durable if clutch kicking is required
rb20 box on the left as u can see the rb25 is much larger
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/099.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/097.jpg
next up time to strip down the old engine loom and get rid of wats not wanted and keep the basics simple and down to wats just required the wiring loom after a small bit of tidying up and sorting
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/089.jpg
ive enough in tis loom now to start the engine and run it just need to build an ignition system onto it and it,ll fire up
tis is as far as ive got at the min but hoping to get the e30 shell in during the week and start to get it fully stripped down to see wat were dealing wit rust wise etc etc
any comments positive or negative all welcome

it,ll be done right most work is gonna be done on the shell and i can upgrade the rest then after wards as money permits
it,ll be gettting a s13 or skyline subframe and rear coilovers just cause ive numerous diffs and ratios here for it and also i want to use the driftworks rear hubs eventually front is all gonna be from the bmw parts bins wit skyline brakes all around:D

Yea would make sense to do that alright to be fair.. Front end is well upto the job anyway :)

Now i think you should bury the rb in the bulkhead :D

also theres a lot more adjustment in the skyline gear towards the beemer stuff
its going to have to be to make it fit in and looker sleepish hopefully when done the intercooler wont be seenand i wont have any really tell tale signs of the rb under the bonnet

There can be just as much adjustment on the BMW stuff if you want.

Diff ratios are cheaper ad easier to find too but as you have everything already you might as well make use of it. Skyline rear end will probably give better ultimate grip too.

As long as you don't get carried away and fit everything from the skyline and weld it on crooked
As mentioned too, shove the engine right back into the bulkhead. Friend of mine had a RB engined E30 a few years ago and it was kinda shit really although it only being a RB20 wasn't helping matters.

exactly straight 6 and external wastegate:cool: it,ll probably be left badgeless wit standard body work or maybe a 325i sport kit

i know but nissan rear end bits is easier to get and mostly off the shelf plus ive most bits here
talking to u and famous jh convinced me to stay wit the bmw front end was gonna change to s13 or 14 till yere input
i hope it wont go in crooked as it,ll leave it undriveable ill be double checking everything numerous times before i cut and weld
ya as far back as it needs to go it,ll be going as i wanna leave it standard looking from the outside but to also keep the viscous fan in it
rb is good engine if modded right

E30 rear axle adjustment bits are mostly off the shelf too really. All you need is camber/toe, damping, height and arb stiffness.
DTM stuff can adjust roll-center then too. But as you say it's easier and different to use the Skyline stuff as you have it rather than trying to sell it all on and then get more new stuff.

No offence to the owner as there was a shitload of time and effort gone into it to make it and its nice to do aomething alittle outside the ordinary run of things but that Nemisis SR-E30 seems to drive like a bag of sh!te anytime I've seen it out.

tats y im using it plus its easy to set upo ted and i know wat works wit rear nissan suspension
u and famous jh will hopefully sort the front for me in time befoire i s13 the biatch:p
to be fair i find the nemisis car seems to be set up at the back good but i havent seem it in the flesh only pics and vids but the front seems out tis could be down to tracking and geometry set up as car is in devolopment stages
i think kavs car is an ispiration for conversions as the e30 is a timeless classic just needs more modern engines drive train etc
i love the look of the e30 but after having a few e30,s and a couple e36s i feel the engine as standard let them down still cant fault an m3 thou

righto so small update car is nearly allstripped now just to get under it tonight and drop the old petrol tank and all the old fuel and brake lines :happy) job ive been putting off for a bit
engine bay and interior fully stripped few small bits left to come out not much thou
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/Image0114.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/Image0115.jpg
so last nite in another feat of trying to avoid getting under it i decided it was time the car started to go on a crash course diet:D
front valances chopped off theres probably more to go when i start to mate the intercooler to it but it,ll do for the min
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/Image0116.jpg
and finally the rear took a battering(rrfl: im gonna make all the back off it completly flat floored to leave loads of access to the diff suspension arms etc etc so im chopping the rear quarters and pockets off it boot well will be going basically anything tats not needed is going in the bin
so wat i started wit orginally
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/Image0113.jpg
after a while of cutting
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/Image0112.jpg
and just a pic of actually how much is being cut from the back end:D
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/Image0111.jpg
tis is how i left it last nite more to be done tis evening so maybe another update later on
and on doing a small bit of research the differences between weight on the two car is unreal from a small bit of google work its between 200 and 300 kgs so in comparsion tats like 200 to 300 bags of sugar so the power to weight ratio should be extenmally good on tis shell when finished and should see a lot quicker a car on track witout having touched the engine so all good on the pocket and also for reliability as i wont need to run as much power;)[/

But if your cutting so much off the back , will it be very light on the back wheels cause of all the weight in the front with the rb ??

thanks man
itll be light but i still have to weld in a full new boot floor
pockets just been cut off for cleaniness and to lose the rust in them:(
hopefully wont be to light at the back when the new fuel tank battery and everything goes into the boot also moving the engine back in the car for better weight balance:D

right loads more done the last nite or two the car was half stripped a few yrs ago and used on track but after a final stripping and gutting again heres the amount of stuff ive managed to take out tats all gonna be scrap full 8 x4 trailer full:eek:
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/119.jpg

next up got all the boot floor cut out the pockets cut out
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/011.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/012.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/013.jpg

next up then drilled out all the spot welds on the old sunroof cage and threw tat in the bin as well as usually wit all e30s the sunroof has caused a nice bit of rust on the underside of the roof:( hoping to be able to treat tis and it,ll be good enough for another few yrs to come
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/016.jpg
next up then i started to cut the bulk and the tunnel for moving the engine for better weight balanceand to leave a bit of room in the engine bay
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/118.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/004.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/007.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/010.jpg

next up was i started to line up and see wat way the brake pedal and master cyclinder was going to work out after a bit of head scrahing and thinking i decided the best thing to do was just cut out all the old bulk head here and fabricate a new one in as it was gonna be the quickest and easiest route have to get steel tomorrow and then we can start on tis
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/015.jpg
next up wit nothing really else major to start working on i got an old block and head and strippped these and am gonna mate them together to use as a template for putting in and mocking up the engine mounts and gearbox mounts and building the new bulk head and tunnel
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/120.jpg
tis is as far as ive got at the min

podge
30-09-10, 00:29
righto bit more fab work done tonight on tis
we start wit the left hand side of the car to make the bulk head where it had rusted away and also to make epic size arches so we can run massive lock when finished:happy)
wat we started wit after everything was cut away we decided to cut more than we needed so we would have no problems at a later date wit wheels hitting the inner arch on full lock
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/006-2.jpg

couple of welds later and were left wit tis
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/003-2.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/006-2.jpg

few of nelly welding using gas atm as its easier to fill some of the gaps will be using mig at a later date to do all the seems etc

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/007-2.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/005-2.jpg

me putting out the fire after nelly set the seem sealer and stanard top mount bush on fire(rrfl: (rrfl:
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/008-2.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/009-2.jpg

after a while welding we were left wit tis nice big arch
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/010-2.jpg

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/012-1.jpg

next i hit work on the other side originally we were going to try and weld in the nissan master and slave cyclinders for the clutch and brake pedals but after and a lot of though and discussion we decided the easiest way to do it was cut all the old pedals out and buy a floor mounted pedal box for it instead

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/podge_07/011-2.jpg
pedal box should be here in the next few days when tat arrives we can start on tis side of it
also being gathering a few more ramdom bits for it ill have the head oil drain kit for it in the next few days and also ill be going getting a e36 rack and trying to mount it nearer to the subframe to hoipefully stop me having to modify the sump
