View Full Version : Front Rubber..

I currently have 17" rims on the front which need rubber.
What I want to know is what do you recommend to put on the front?

I still have a lot of other stuff to sort out before I can even get it on track so money is sort of an issue, but I suppose the fronts last for quite a while, so it should be fine.

Ive heard of a few tyres;
Toyo TR1 ; very good in wet but seems to not last as long as others...
Falken FK452 ; some people rave about them...
Hankook RS2's; anyone?.....
Eagle F1; 100 pound a tire....
Neuton NT5000's; supposed to be a great tyre, surprised many people!

And what are your thoughts on running 16"s up front as oppose to 17"s?
Much difference?

Ive got loads of things to sort out on my 180 before I can get cracking, but just wanted to see what people say, as I simply don't have money, no job, and im still at school. :D

Only priced them in 15's tom, uniroyals around €60ish and 888's around €95

888's around 170-180 euro a tyre in 17's i think

Yea, but on a dry track the TR1's would wear quicker, as they are softish, epic in the wet tho..

I might start with something similar to them then, cause if I go out on track for the first time with something silly like r888's it may give me a false feel of the car, and the steering input would be completely different compared to a less grippy tyre.
I dont want to be going out with buckets of front end grip dragging the shite part worn rears around the track as if i was in snow.
:D

Might just start with something like the falken.

I find them shite in the dry and even shitter in the wet!

If you want a tyre good in the wet and dry go for eagle f1's imo

or if your on a budget hankook rs2's

i had T1Rs on for me first spin in tullow there on saturday. it was dry but they where still on the car since goldstone last saturday where it was pissing all day so being lazy i said I'd leave them on and see how they go. they were absolutely none existent in the dry, felt like me steering column was snapped and i had no control over the direction of the car at all. so headed straight back in and put on the R888's and the car was stuck to the track.
altho the T1Rs were shite in the dry they were savage in the wet at goldstone, now weather thats down to the surface or what I'm not sure....

If I ran 16" on the front would that change anything? I.e. staggered, with 17" on the back?

I run Hankook ventus on the front of mine, there the road tyre that hankook have and I think there a great tyre! Have them on my road car aswell and the wear is very good on them, and there cheap! I had RS-2s on the 5 series i had before and really I dont think there much difference in the grip between them and the ventus! And honestly you won't want a seriously grippy tyre in drifting, the front needs some give aswell

Ive never tried any other tyre up front than hankook coz i like the way the car is with them
