Has any one any tips or tricks for seam weldin a 180sx??? will it take long and is there much advantage in doin it???
As an advantage it provides bit more stiffness to car itself.
avent done it to my own yet, cause it prob best to ave rear subframe an dat off da car so im waitin til ova winter to do it.
cant see it takin long once ya ave da mig welder and grinder handy
:D
to do it properly takes forever!!! FACT!!! and unless your down to a bare shell it isnt worthwhile!!! seams on a 180 are weak so if its a full-time track car then its worthwhile, if not leave it alone!!!
i had my care bare and it took me a week to weld it and i still didnt do as good a job as id want

A week of full days or evenings and weekends......!
Took 3 days to do my car as a bare shell really depends on how much
under seal is on the shell aswell

Did you sand blast it.....!
No robbie jap s13's have very little underseal on them compaired to anything
from the uk. The plan was to get it blasted when it went to the uk but when
he seen it he said it was pointless

I dont plan on running huge power to be honest, about 300-350BHP
Think about it though. The stiffer the shell is going to be, the easyer it will
be to break traction. I know theres not huge flex in an s body shell but would
be a huge improvement over std
done mine in a week of evenings, worth while if your doing a ground up build

One of the worst and messiest jobs you can do on a car.Especially if you dont use a spit.Holding a grinder on your back under the car with crap getting in your face, hair and down your top.Not something i'll be doing again anytime soon.
The welding is the easy part, the prep is the hard put.Cleaner you get the seam/surface the better the weld.
