View Full Version : Dirty dirty tramp ca18 200sx(pics now on pg 1)
Suuuup!:D have deposit on this, just need to get a chance to collect it!
After my tramp 320 failed to ever get to a track due to money issues and piece of shit syndrome, i thought id have another bash!
Saw this for sale on the net and tbh for the price of it I wasnt expecting a rusted out shitter. Turns out its just a slightly rusty in a few places shitter.
To be fair, the engine probably isnt going to work/last long, as its in a few bits at the moment as he was 'changing the mani gasket and gave up halfway because he didnt have the time':o I ran the afm straight into the inlet and started it and I couldnt hear a rattle, but it was quite noisy with the manifold half on!
Plans are - pick it up, bring it home, do fuck all with it...then track it and wreck it. Diff is welded already.

Yeh, when I was there looking at it the phone didnt stop ringing. So I said fuck it ill go for it, there will always be a demand if I need to sell it like!
Not gona put money into it at all, no shiny fmic, no adjustable arms, nada! extra lock spacers, cut the springs and off I go! (if it runs:D)

Wont have it till the end of the month..damn monthly pay :( And as I say, engine could be a heap already so keeping my eyes peeled for spare ca18!:)

Ah sure if ya fell over it a couple of times it was probably broken anyway, them yokes dont be able for that kind of kicking around!:p

im fed upwith them, i rebuilt a ca18 last month started first pick was delighted since it was my first rebuild took her for spin to bed n new bearings everything was going wel but got a little carryed away driftin n 3rd and bang again good buzz:mad:

i seen an sr20 for sale today for 300 quid needed bearings etc ...........if it was me id buy that and build it up as you wreck the ca eighteen ! then drop it in after yave built up a few robert deniros ! :)
i used own that a couple of years ago when when she was blue, the engine was rebuilt before that and hardly ever driven since, the lad i sold it to was goin to don it up but never did and sold it about a year ago. I was offered it back about 3 or 4 months agot but the turbo was wanked in it then, dunno if it was ever changed.

Interesting! yeh turbo has been swapped out for another one, not too sure on the story with it tbh will only be able to take it apart once I have it at home like. was the engine rebuilt when the timing belt was done would ya think? think it was done about 10,000 miles ago acording to the tip ex!

i no this car,,hasnt got and easy life 2 say the least,its been through a few rough hands,....was very smokey the last time i seen it running,,,turbo on it is an s14 turbo which was only put on a few weeks back!!

Id say it has alright, country folk:rolleyes:! Thats good that the turbo is only on it a few weeks, hopefully the smoke was from a previous dead turbo! its clean now compared to what it will be like!

i think so but that was about 5 years ago. it wasnt long on the road after that then it was sold, it went through 4 or 5 hands since and never put on the road so theres prob still only 10,000 mile on that engine since it was done, but in sayin that it was always a bit noisey. Is the bootlid still rotten in her or has it been changed?

noisy in what way? Couldnt get a proper listen to it as i just had the afm infront of the intake plenum to get it ticking over.
Bootlid is either fillered or changed. Doesnt bother me though as its going on track!

what people seem to foget when they "rebuild" these engines is to get the crank redone, if you dont do that, then whats the point? engines just gonna go again!
use 10w50 or 15w50 oil, this also helps! but your engine has got 170,000 miles of hard abusive driving on it, ANY engine after that amount mileage is probably gonna die, so just give it hell and have fun until it dies and then swap it for another 200 euro ca engine!

they tend to pop up on here a bit! like people ask 300 to 400 euro for them, but they probably sell for like 150-to 200, any ive ever talked to has picked them up for that!(mines been going strong for 4 years BOO YAA!!!:D)
england is littered with them, thats your best bet, if you could figure out some way of getting them over cheap then you would be sorted! (did evojeepgal have some sort of parts service going??)
also get yourself onto sxoc.com , anything and everything you want for a ca18 will be up for sale on there!

I just sold a clean ca18 engine in perfect working order for 200Euro. lol
p.s. ive a spare CA gearbox here in perfect order too if youre interested.

sweet dude! the ca's the only job:p theres a guy on here has an ad up sellin two ca engines? also by the look of them pics it has a t28 or atleast a t25g as the air inlet pipe is bolted on. the std t25 ones are part of the cast!:D
was offered that yoke for 250 a few moths back with turbo gone engine is/was 100% in her not that rusty either only thing is she was dead as a maggot when she was last on the road but the 14 tubby mite sort that

aye, theres a s14 turbo in it now...it also had a big split in the intercooler piping which wasnt noticed until it was taken apart and left in the state it in now...which would contribute to it being dead with lack of boost! yeh its not that rusty at all...must be all filler :D

Fix/replace ca18...then wreck it, thats all :)
Cut springs or else reeealy cheap coilovers, find a seat, and thats until i see if the ca goes pop!
