Heya folks,
Drift Jam rolls into the Punchestown Arena this friday! Drift Jam is the latest breakthrough for the drifting scene and culture in Ireland. Recently the drift scene has changes so much and finally were beginning to remould the idea of drifting in Eire.
So basically Drift Jam is a big open friendly practice day, its aimed at forming a laid back friendly environment where folks from all strokes can bring their cars and have a cool drift session on some of Ireland most elite drift tracks!
The cost is 100euro for the day and the day is split in to 2 groups, pro-drivers must be a pd license holder,full cage, pd scrutinised cars, and streeto-half cage and harness required, prefered bucket seat but not essential.
Each driver will get 2 runs before coming back in and queing up again, the day starts at 10 and finishes around 5. Its open pit and there will BBQ facilities(weather depending) so byob.
Spectators are welcome and hope everyone has a great day!

Non registered drivers can they attended? Is it the half cage and harness they need?

so how does this work out with prodrift having a practice day in punchestown on the same day too?????? theres some catch or something going on here that you lot aren't telling us about. is the day halved between you lot and prodrift or what? or are you the same people and forgot to edit where ever it was that i saw prodrift saying that they where having a practice day on the Friday.
so what is it? spit it out, we deserve to know all details before you take our money.

Are both prodrift and Driftjam going to pack it on the day so foryour 100 quid you get fuck all runs?

yeah i bet the PD lads will have the track more than the streeto lads!
Its both going in PD pocket I'd imagine as Nixon is somewhat involved there.
and the fact spaces are being sold on the PD website for it has me thuinking that its PD running it just using a different name so people wont think "fuck that im not giving them fuckers my money"
but fair play they are opening up track time for everyone, as long as it not just a get rich quick thing

yeah maybe its a IM FROM PD BUT IM NOT GOING TO TELL U! thing but i think that for this to work! i think non Pro Licence holders shud get more track time!

1-ok so heres how it works, the time is divided equally between pro and street. the pros are going to run twin battles so ther will be 2 pro cars out at the same time, where as the street cars are individual runs. So if 50 pros sign on and 25 street cars the time is 100percent split down the middle...
2-you must register online for this, theres no on-the-day sign on.
3-There will be tyre changing on site.
4-No passengers will be allowed onto the track. It's been hard enough to get streeto cars and unknown drivers allowed onto these tracks, let alone passengers!!
Guys whether you like prodrift or not, this is a great forward step for the Irish Drifting scene. This is the first time most people on the site will get the chance to drive on some of the tracks that were forbidden until now..
Nobodys trying to screw anyone out of money, its purely for the scene that this has been set up..
This is half the price of mondello and you will get alot more track time, on a proper layed out drifting track!

ok guys, the info has been a bit scattered on this as its a completely new idea and theres Alot going on!
My involvment with PD is entirely to better the dynamic scene. We all no the drifting scene in Ireland is changing rapidly and we need to embrace that. Myself and pd have come together with a common interest to really try and push the scene further and bring something new to Ireland.
We have finally managed to unlock some of the tracks that have until now been closed to any streeto cars.
Not only this but its for a seriously great price too..
And its all with the laid back session atmosphere.
People need to stop looking for a catch, the days are going to be really great fun and everyone is going to be happy!
This is going to be the first of hopefully many of these style events so if anyone has any input or ideas let me no...
im with driftjam and nixon on this, i think its a great idea and hope to see this effort put in again!!

Of course there is.. The numbers will be kept low to keep the atmosphere chilled out..
The day is based around drifting obviously but with a strong influence with socialising and finally meeting people and having the crack!

Im looking forward to it, Hope it well organised and track time is maximised for drivers. Its good that PD drivers are going out in pairs :)

X2 sum competition would be deadly,even just on points and style and stuff,would make it a bit more interesting.
Best of luck with this Nixon. I think "Club Loose" do something similar in the states. Would be great to see that chilled out non-competitive atmosphere introduced here.

Epiiiiiic! Fuck my life and not being able to go, this sounds like it's gonna be such a good little event in itself as a warm-up for the Saturday and Sunday
Really hope it goes well for all involved, probably gonna experience a few teething problems being the first time out but hope everyone will understand and support it

It starts at 10 guys and finished around 5.
You need a provisional driving license.
To book this get onto the prodrift site, go into online shop and on the left you'll see vouchers for Friday practise day-100euro...

id did get that email yeah... wow i thought i had wide enough stance as it is but with those i worked it out to extend out a further 70mm :eek: awesome but somhow i cant see them working even if its just to roll up to the track with them on.. but if they were the 2 piece in the buff/polished finish i'd just hve to have them.....

Will def goin up to this for the day. Would love to have somethin to bring out. If a car is payed up for a day I take it there can be two drivers. Like if I went halves on a cheap slider with someone we can both drive it on the day?

Cant' believe there's a couple of negative comments in here but good to see the majority of people are up for this !
The chances of any web site or club getting Punchestown for a drft practice day are bloody slim so I don't see any harm in being associated with PD.
Will be interesting to see how it works out but looks like a great idea.Back in the day if you wanted to drift on track you HAD to compete, hence the very competitive drift culture in Ireland.
Hopefully this will bring back some of the fun that serious competition often destroys and also create a more laid back atmosphere that will encourage everyone to use their RWD cars like there supposed to !!!
Trying to get the day off work so the E30 can get some punishment but if not at least I can look forward to a few days like this maybe..............................

Pissed off so much i cant do this day(poxy mondeo breaking) ive just read through all the driftjam threads there now and have to say nixon and co (whether it's pd or not who gives a fuck) are doing/trying sumthing which should be AS exciting to novice lads/real drift fans (not just sunday goesers no offence)and all concerned as this country has seen drift wise, if this takes off and happens at all PD events it could end up been a bigger crowd pleaser than the top 16 :eek:
Everyone gives out about PD been this and that myself included:)but thinking outside the box as they are with whats been run in punchestown will no doubt take drifting to another level in this country :cool::cool:
There will be a stupid amount of seat time for novice lads there friday and saturday, only problem i can see is the cost for practice day and competeing €250 on these two things alone without juice tyres ect ect maybe if it takes off a flat cost of €200 for entering and the practice day in future maybe!!!

Well folks the opening day of The Punchestown Saga begins tomorrow at 9.30am. Looks like another late night in the D.I HQ to finish off the last of the cars and load up! This is gonna be a spectacular weekend guys and hope everyone can make it!
