Since seeing Chuck at it the weekend i really really want to learn :). I'm going to save up for one. Can anyone recommend to me what would be a good starter drift car?
I'm having great fun learning in the Omega :D dunno if it's necessarily advisable or not, i guess i'll let the experienced people tell you that :p
you can get em pretty cheap these days too

What would your budget be? I'd really suggest an S-body i.e. 180SX, 200SX, Silvia for starting out if you can afford it.

Id defo recommend a nissan anyway, best chassis and most tuning mods available.. aswell as countless spare parts and knowledgable folk around to help!
Having said that though, an AE86 is great to learn the basics in as its low power makes YOU use your skills to drift whereas nissans with much more power and stability make it easier to drift.. depends what your aiming for really!

yeah you may start teaching me so dearest :D
Supras are good.....
actually ill sell you my track spec 200sx? slight damage due a gas explosion but grand for sliding into tyre walls in?
If you're going for a shitter / tramp drift car , get a cheap Beemer , and crash it and slam it and drive it to death..... thats what I'm going to do .
Or if you're not poor , go straight for an S-chassis :)
i am poor and i getting a 520 at the weekend i know its not that powerful but ill strip every single thing i dont need and dropit on its ass,
as im only starting with a crapo so if i hit anything i will lmao
my first drift car was a bmw 520 which was ok but u really needed to give it abuse for it to take second in the dry!a nissan is a much easier car to drive and learn in tho because if the better suspension and extra power!mines up for sale if ur intrested!http://www.driftireland.com/showthread.php?t=42

Thread Revival!! Sorry for the hi-jack but what would peoples views be ona mv6 omega? One advertised at right money? He sayin its 280 bhp manual witha diff? Couldn be right could it?
im a newbie drifter aswel and ive learned in a standard r32 which we picked up for fuck all money the power is very smooth unlike the silvias and 180 s and is very easy to control done my first roundabout and my first long fish tails i would highly recommend one. standard with a 1.5 or 2 way and off you go.:D
ya defo go with an s-body, as sed loads of spare parts available, ther easily tunable for handy money, go with sr20 anyway..... better off wit a jap than a rusty ass 200sx ca18 like....

BMW all day long, cheap and heaps of fun:D:cool:
as said loads of times above lad if you going seriously drifting go nissan
how about supra ma70turbo can be got very cheap easy to get power out of and very relaible once headbolts are done, 250bhp standard i have spent 200 euro to get mine up to 275bhp and half a day modi the steering to get extra lock. Very heavy car but for drifting you wont need much more then pedals and steering so all can come out to make car much lighter and same wheelbase as s14. 3000 will get you two decent cars so spares wont be a problem, coilovers will be your biggest bill got whiteline springs in mine ok but not great, very cool looking car and classic
greetings smokyman
wat it could look like with nice wheels and ebay aprox 450e bodykit.

get sumthin jap all we need is another shiter going around breaking down and wasting everyone elses track time (Ive been there), unless you have something with a bit money spent on it. I hate looking and listening to balls of shit. Dont tell me you dont have much money, its motorsport.. its not cheap.
