Okay so finally I am putting a thread together for my R32 cause otherwise I just never would, it's gonna be kinda fucked at ya in chunks as I've shitloads done and it's a matter of getting all the pics together. So early in 2013 I was looking for a 180SX to buy as I always wanted one, I had some money and I needed something to work on to keep me sane. Instead of finding a 180, I ended up buying this R32 which had been on donedeal for a few weeks for €2600. The price had dropped down a bit when I first saw the ad and I reckoned it looked okay. I was going to Paris for a week to visit family and decided that if it was still available after I got back I would go for a look. After going to looking at it, it transpired that it had a horrible misfire issue (possibly the reason why no one else had bought it beforehand). With the helpful advice of alanopel, I decided to make an offer and got the car for a decent price along with some spare parts.

This is how it looked after I got it home.

And the spares parts that came with the car (Except for the Sparco wheel)

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/2013-02-23164547_zps92d7d85b.jpg

The car had been off the road for quite a good few years, about two in the prior owners hands and then some more by the owner before him. Most of its time has in the country has been spent as a weekend car or sitting in a garage and I could believe this as it has 97,000KMs on the odometer.

There wasn’t really any spec list on the car, it was pretty standard with the usual bits put on;
Wedsport wheels
Catback Exhaust
HKS Airfilter
Apexi Boost Gauge
Carbon Fibre Bonnet (Faded)
Blitz BOV
Steering Wheel (Thing looked like it came out a UFO!)
Gear knob (Another complete eye-sore!)

Even before I had the car bought I knew that I would be aiming for a 90’s-ish style, not because I’m cheap but it goes better with earlier JDM cars I think. When I was sorting out the paperwork and cash with the sell I spotted an awesome SARD boost gauge in his kitchen from one of the cars he was breaking and I ended up buying that off him as well because it went perfectly with what I wanted.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/2013-02-23164654_zpsfc293e9c.jpg

……. JDM Tyte Coke can around the gauge too!

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/2013-02-23164702_zps13395dfd.jpg

The first thing to happen with the Skyline was to get rid of the steering wheel and gearknob. So they got replaced with a new Sparco wheel I have had for years and a Trust gear knob which I bought from Juice. Quickly afterwards I changed over the boost gauge.

(Original Wheel & Gear Knob)

After this I moved onto dealing with the smaller issues of sorting out the missing indicator and sealing the rear lights to stop water getting into the boot. The Indicator was the usual case of a broken tab. So for a simple a quick fix, I got a piece of plastic and cut it to the shape of the missing tab and then plastic welded it onto the indicator. Not beautiful looking but it’s still holding strong.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_0307_zps92dd04f0.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_0311_zps66f5ad84.jpg

I was finding that small pools of water were forming in the boot so decided I would deal with the problem before it was too late. This was just a case of checking seals and eventually tracking the issue down rear lights on one side where they had been removed before and chunks of the sealant were missing from it. I used a black silicone sealant to line the back of the lights on both sides before re-attaching them, I haven’t seen a drop of water since in the boot.

(Just to make sure there were no hidden secrets to explain water getting in……)

Good work so far dude and a cheap find!! I really need to start a thread on my 32.

I wanted to take care of some styling issues, at first I was tempted to repaint of the Weds that the R32 was sat on but gave up during the prep and instead bought a mixed staggered set of wheels in the form of 17x9” Volk Rays VRX-10 up front and 18x9.5” Work Rezax at the back. To get these to fit I had to do a subtle bit of inner arch rolling and a set spacers up front to clear the brake callipers.

Another thing that needed seeing to was the paint on the front bumper, as can be seen there was a big patch of paint missing, so I sanded down the whole bumper and then primed and painted it.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_0301_zps2500f74a.jpg

I have to admit, I am pleased with how the bumper came out

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/10415570_722270714496892_5556602357321472083_n_zps uakqk14w.jpg

One part I wanted to get rid of for ages was the Blitz BOV since it wasn’t connected properly and the Standard BOV was still in place and connected up, so there was no point in the Blitz item even being there!

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_0288_zpsorsq8ytw.jpg

To get rid of this, I machined up a plate to block off the mount for Blitz valve on the intercooler pipe. The plate is a bit overkill it considering most people would cut a plate out of sheet material, but I didn’t want it leaking. Also it was an excuse to use my milling machine.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/2014-06-06184529_zpsb6708fb6.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7186_zps6l7ceqcl.jpg

After this was done I needed to get the car NCT’d I had one booked and just needed to get the headlights aligned and tracking done. The garage I brought it to also did Pre-NCT checks for free, so I got one done expecting all to be good………… Not the worst, but it was far from good.

The list of parts worn and needing to be changed that I got back included;

- Track Rod Ends
- Front Drop-links
- Right Front Balljoint
- Left Front Kingpin bearings
- Exhaust mount rubber
- Battery Clamp
- Brakes also needed attention

I had a think about sending it through the test anyway after this, but after talking with my dad we both came to the conclusion that I would just be wasting money since I knew I would be buying the parts anyway. After thinking about it further and my dad putting ideas in my head, I decided that there is no point in changing a couple of the parts only for others to wear out and need replacing, so I would just do them all in one go. At this point I made a list of every part I would need and start tracking them down, unfortunately as I was in college and no proper income over the year it took a while to get all of the parts together. As it stands this is the current list of parts;

- KTS Pillow Tie Rod End Set
- KTS Reinforced Tie Rod Set
- Hardrace Hardened Rubber Bushings – All around
- Mintex Brake Pads
- Brake Discs
- Cusco Tension Rods
- Cusco Coilovers
- JIC Magic Front Upper Camber Arms
- Kaber Performance HICAS Lock-Out Bar
- DriftWorks Rear Camber Arms
- GKTech Braided Brake Lines
- Ball Joints Front Lower Outer
- Ball Joints Rear Lower Outer
- Front & Rear ARB Drop links

Also picked up another couple random parts;

- Tomei Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge
- Momo Quick-Release Hub
- Kaber Perfomance Hicas Lockout Bar
- DriftWorks Rear Camber Arms
- GKTech Gearshift Bushing
- Nissan OEM Key Blank
- Nissan OEM Cam Cover Rubber Pipe
- Walbro 255 l/hr Fuel Pump
- Walbro Fitting Kit
- Greddy Magnetic Drain Plug
- Bride Brix Recliner.

(This was from about January)

So that roughly brings me to about a month ago. After months of eagerly waiting to finish college as I hadn’t a single moment of free time. Luckily for me, about the same time as I finished college a friend of my dad had sold all the equipment out of his workshop and so that left me with the perfect location to work on the Skyline giving me the opportunity to properly strip down the suspension, clean it up and replace everything with the new parts and shelter from the Irish summer.

Thanks man, It was a bit of luck I suppose and they weren't in demand as much back then from what I remember. Definitely do, I have to say it only gets harder with time haha

As far as the body goes, if it's with me long enough and I have the funds it will get a full respray. I'm not much of a fan of kits on R32's (That's not to say their aren't some awesome kitted liners out there)

Cool car enjoyed the read :) is it back on the road yet?

Not yet, I have an NCT booked for August. I finished up most of the work last week, I'm just caught up on a charging circuit issue at the moment, but I'll go into more detail about that in one of my next posts.

So with the car under shelter, this post will mostly be pictures of what followed starting with the mini pallet of stupidly expensive new parts

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7542_zpssxplvbil.jpg

First thing to do was to get the wheels off the ground, unfortunately without a lift blocks of wood had to do

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7543_zps6zibqrrj.jpg

Now I took some time to look properly at what was being changed like these crusty old brake hoses....

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7580_zps317j0bzn.jpg

This rough looking droplink......

And this Upper Control Arm with fucked bushings (I hadn't known that I was going to be changing these yet though!)

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7570_zpsko0cb8zs.jpg

Not really much else to see, so fast forward a while (Read Two weeks, Lots of WD40, and cursing) and we now have this;

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7590_zps2ncipo3l.jpg

This is where I now introduce a sideline project that my dad (absolute lifesaver while working on this car) had been working on for a few weeks prior in preparation for the removal and installation of bearings...... A homemade 12 tonne hydraulic press. It's not much to look at but does the job and cost absolutely nothing. It's still in the development stage hence the lack of a paint job.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7592_zpssbwnag2e.jpg

Once I was at armless floaty car stage and all the bushings had been removed, I brought all the arms back to wash them down with spirits and remove all the old shitty paint on them, and then repaint them with lots of hammerite......about €50 worth of hammerite :'(

Photobucket is acting the mick now, so you'll have to wait a bit for more pictures and progress.

Okay so finally an update, last post I left you all with a picture of the homemade hydraulic press. First job for it was pressing out the old bushings. It took a bit of practice, but we got most of them out without too much hassle, though we had to break the hacksaw a couple times.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7596_zpsthp2zztu.jpg

With bushings all out, I couldn't put all new bushings in and just leave the arms looking rusty and skanky

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_20150623_185417329_zpsdstzf6wc.jpg

A good clean up with a wirewheel and sandpaper, before a few coats of black hammerite spray. Came out pretty sweet I think. Repeated the same process for the other arms.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_20150623_185347181_zps4i9gedqj.jpg

Once all the arms were painted I got to pressing in all of the bushings, I had decided to try and stay with rubber bushes as this was a road car build and the roads in Ireland are complete fuckin shite so I wasn't going to try and kid myself with polybushes. Also the price of polybushes is stupid this side of the world. While looking for replacements I came across Hard Race hardened rubber bushes. I've always been a bit hesitant with Hard Race as a brand so I decided to find some reviews of them, all of them read positively and after doing a price comparison to standard replacements they were a damn sight cheaper. In the end I got all the relevant bushes need from Australia, in the end totalled about €500. Anywho pressing the bushings in was a pretty quick operation (so quick that I didn't think to take any pictures), I had put the bushings in the freezer in the morning to contract them and help with the pressing. At the same time I also replaced the front and rear Lower Outer Balljoints, it would be stupid not to have with everything else being done at the same time.

After all the bushings were pressed I was left with thise wonderful-ish sight of progress

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/11928748_10153188811973823_3610941155447567090_n.j pg?oh=240c780bbb801e51f2574f2ff5338ace&oe=566C2F59

One thing I could never figure out fully was the cars constant desire to pull to the right, While taking apart the suspension I finally got an answer as to why, one absolutely fucked lower kingpin bearing, and by fucked, I mean FUCKED!

When you take apart the Upright assembly and look in at the lower bearing you should expect the see the bearing as it is on the right, not like I found in the arm to the left.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7615_zps1jdqaswf.jpg

How it should be........

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7614_zpsvc0bcsxw.jpg

How it shouldn't be. Minus a few bearings and a Lower/Inner Race, accompanied by a destroyed lower seal!!!

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_7605_zps7drvgo0a.jpg

Going further into my autopsy of the fucked kingpin bearing, we have one chewed up seal which had taken up the role of the lower/inner race surface. The upper part of the bearing can also still be seen stuck in the the upright (A hammer and punch took care of that).

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/t31.0-8/11931008_10153188754488823_3777520328810431416_o.j pg

After all was said and done he is a comparison of what came out of the left upright compared to the right upright. (BB's are missing because the lower bearing cant be removed easily without destroying it)

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t31.0-8/11896381_10153188757058823_3414599039024404552_o.j pg

So my feeling is that some muppet took apart the upright on one side for some reason destroyed the lower bearing when taking the upright apart, couldn't figure out to get everything out. Didn't want to have to pay the insane price for the new bearing from Nissan and just put back in all the BB's he could manage, put it back together and hoped nobody would notice. Who knows, either way there was an idiot involved.

Before I started I did shit loads of research trying to track down the exact part numbers and bearing required to put back together the upright assemblies. Not as easy a task as I thought at first. In the end, all I can say is thank god for the cross-compatibility of some nissan models, In this case all the kingpin hardware from a 300ZX was the same. Another challenge was tracking down the parts, in the end I manage to get them all from Concept Z Performance in the US, Though this didn't make the parts cheap as they were OEM Nissan parts and ended up running me about €300, still needs must and it's always nice to know you're putting in nice new parts.

During disassembly of the front suspension, I discovered the bushings in one of the UCAs was fucked, probably also adding to that turning to the right issue. Wanting to get everything put back together quickly I tracked down a set of JIC Magic camber arms which Scottr89 was selling (Big up to Scott, never have I received something so quickly before, I paypal'd him around 3PM, Camber Arms arrived in the post 10AM the next morning!!!).

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfl1/v/t1.0-9/11953135_10153188977633823_1495436562354177956_n.j pg?oh=2acc458b3d7ebcaf1893b42840cc3ad0&oe=567F30F0

I didn't realise how much of a difference in length there was until I sat both arms beside each other!

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a322/Madmat4x4/Skyline/IMG_20150715_185942563_zpssaidjjam.jpg

Anyway, it meant that progress could go on and I could start putting the car back together.

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/1898209_10153188811683823_1568762711121775122_n.jp g?oh=33876f5f0f4d2b19920936a5894fab38&oe=567D8AAD

The brakes were absolute wank, So I completely cleaned all of the calipers, then on with GKTech Braided Lines, New discs, and some new Mintex Pads up front. Nothing special but it should do the job much better now. You can also spot the Cusco Front Traction Rods as well.

At the back there's nothing that fancy to see....... Mainly because I got caught up in putting everything back on and forgot to take pictures. Eventually it got to the final stage of putting the wheels back on and getting it off the blocks it had sat on for about 5-6 weeks.

Back on the ground I realised there was now just a smidgens more front camber than I anticipated with the JIC arms in place.

Cheers Scott, Yeah aggressive stance is one way to put it. I was getting the car tracked the other day and it turns out the arms give a total camber of -5 Degrees, right on the NCT-able limit haha. Not sure about their long term prospects but they'll do for the moment.

I LOVE A DETAILED BUILD THREAD! Keep us up to date man, this is going to be one to watch!

Thanks dude, That makes two of us. I could put in more pics but there are only so many pictures of some things you can see haha. There is still lots more to come.

Thanks, it's getting there slowly, I'm trying to get things done as good as I can within what I can afford.

Good progress dude. Ah happy I don't have to touch any of my bushes yet.

Thanks man, to be honest it isn't too bad of a job. If you ever have to do them though I recommend using a lift and air tools. And definitely a press.

If anyone wants any of the part numbers or info about where I sourced parts, just ask and I will spread the knowledge.

Thanks guys for all the positive comments, helps keep the fire burning haha.

Okay, let's see. Last post around she hand finally touched the ground again. Still a couple parts to put on but 6 inches from the ground just didn't give enough room for manouvering so I would need to get the car onto a lift. This is where I found the next (unexpected) problem, The engine would start but it was missing like a bitch! Literally it wasn't even able to keep itself running. When I had bought the car, one of the reasons the seller was selling was because he couldn't sort out the misfire which meant it wouldn't do anything about ~3000rpm. This didn't put me off as the car was being bought as a project anyway.

So a bit of back-tracking here.........

After I first bought the R32, I did some research and asked around, and came up with a list of typical RB misfire causes to work my way through until I found the problem. First up was Coilpacks, Inspecting them, I found that a couple of them had cracks in the plastic, So these got changed. No change, still misfiring. Then I checked the earths and earthstraps, bought a new replacement for the strap connecting the engine to the body. No difference.

Put in a good battery in case the other was bad, this helped a bit but there was no real change. Then changed the AFM for another as the ecu kept throwing up a fault code for AFM, still no change, so tried another two AFM's just incase the others were bad ......Nope (I have AFM's if anyone needs haha).

Changed the timing belt, spark plugs, oil, etc. (You never know).... Everything all done still nothing.

After a while of fucking about with a paperclip to read fault codes, I decided to get an ECUTalk Cable for my laptop. It didn't help too much but at least I could monitor and log things.

Eventually one day after months, my dad suggested I check the battery voltage and see what it was reading when the car was running.........Under 12 volts and lower as the car ran on, dipping greatly when the engine was revved. This only meant one thing, Fucked alternator!

So we took the alternator out and sent it off to be checked and re-conditioned, once it was back on the car, the engine ran sweet as a nut....... That was until I moved to Dublin for a year to do a second stint in college.

It was over this year/the last 12 months that I was studying and ordering parts that the car saw little attention, only a regular start up once a week to keep it all okay. After having fitted all the parts and the car back on the ground I wanted to move the car and take it for a quick spin. Unfortunately though, the misfire was back just like before.
Not assuming the “Recon’d” alternator straight away, I checked just about every bit of wiring related to the charging circuit, checked fuses, relays, even bulbs in the dash. They do matter actually……at least one does, the one in the shape of a battery. It was one I had never seen come on in the car at all ever that I could recall and I was completely oblivious to the fact that it should have. So after everything in the charge circuit showed up being fine, I decided to bring the alternator in to be checked and sorted…. Turned out it was fucked again. So it got fixed, I was less €90 and the car ran sweet and that battery check light lit up and went out as it should.

So I thought since the alternator was fucked for so long the battery is well past its prime now, so in went a fresh new battery with the fresh alternator

Next up, I had some other parts to put in the new tie rods and rod ends. This required a lift, so up to Alan Opels house. This was a fairly quick job, as Al basically gets shit done fast when he's involved.

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/11205535_10153188793638823_5883937744388755921_n.j pg?oh=b637a85d7f2619976c39a53a6fe2f395&oe=566D9005

Oh that shiny goodness...... KTS Tie Rods and Rod Ends.

I also had a Walbro 255 pump for a while which I wanted to put in, I had gotten this off a member on here a while back but never really got around to putting it in. I bought a new filter for the pump as it seemed like the wise thing to do.

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11921665_10153188793448823_7432490729942181105_n.j pg?oh=0ee091948ef3bff6cdc46e03c1cf1ca4&oe=5780FCBB

When installing it though, we found what Alan reckons is an S15 pump in there already, which was lucky because the Walbro ran okay-ish for a day and then packed in leaving stranded at a petrol station (Ironic)

Next on the list was getting the alignment done. Unfortunately, the first time I went to have it done the guys at the garage said it was too low to go up on their lift so I had head home and raise the suspension. I decided to put the standard shocks back in for the time being until after the NCT.

Gravel, possibly the worst surface on which to work on a car!

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/11898586_10153188792913823_8888590718987253997_n.j pg?oh=4eed957ce9b5c31bdc307372c125cc34&oe=578B91FD

As such the car went from this:

to this, Monster truck mode:

It made it onto the lift no problem this time.

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11870872_10153188792288823_7645837373296051046_n.j pg?oh=311643872af855112c041e170aaaf54a&oe=575570CA

So right now that is the bulk of the build up to date that I can think of. I'll have another post in a few days, some more things on the way but mostly I'm getting in ready for it's NCT next tuesday.

Here's a pic of how it currently stands,

It needs the skirts and spats to be put back on now and also the bonnet to be lacquered, but I'll get to those in time.

Good update man! She's coming together nicely.

The 32's just don't look right at the standard height do they?

Keep up the good work and good luck with the test!

lookin great man. im dealing with this notorious missfire myself "again". first time i checked coilpacks out and realised i had 5 splitfires and one standard...which the standard one was cracked and rank and arking thus giving a gee hair spark.done the insulating tape method, which worked for a while, but its back..(anyone have ONE splitfire lying about ha). Good luck with nct man and keep it up.

Ugh, tell me about it, Fuckin RB's are cursed. Let me know howimg it goes when you get that 6th Splitfire in. Interested to know does that make any difference for you.

With the NCT coming up on Tuesday, I've been tackling a few of the smaller jobs to get the Skyline in shape and leave the tester with no reason what so ever to fail it. During the initial rebuild of the suspension I had put on a pair of JIC Magic camber arms, which I later found out bring the front camber to -5 degrees and on the absolute limit of a pass. Not wanting to chance my arm, I got my hands on a pair of perfect standard arms from DarenM giving me back the standard -2 Degrees of camber.

https://scontent-waw1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtf1/t31.0-8/11864871_10153233614908823_8280286524243773595_o.j pg

You don't realise the length difference until you place the two arms side by side!

https://scontent-waw1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t31.0-8/12010756_10153233615333823_3824333984064896646_o.j pg

After that job was done, I got on to tackling the removal of the double sided foam tape used to hold on the standard skirts and spats. I wasn't changing them for anything different, but had taken the parts off so they wouldn't get damaged while I was working on the car for a few months (Read years) and also I wanted to properly polish them up again. Unfortunately I was left with the foam tape stuck to the car. I started trying to peel it off but that didn't work.

So here is an example of what I was working against

https://scontent-waw1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/t31.0-8/11143578_10153233615363823_6149366809332510277_o.j pg

Then after trying tar removing...

No good, onto label and sticker remover...

Waste of time. I finally managed to track down what I am now considering the holy grail of sticker and foam tape removers

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/12006176_10153229847988823_38400982309762430_n.jpg ?oh=7c9e4552cbd81e9ebbbeba4efc864d83&oe=5783DB55

It made light work of removing the foam tape and I had the whole car done in a half hour, now bad considering I had spent almost an hour working away at 6 inches of tape the day before!

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xft1/v/t1.0-9/12004049_10153229847443823_863537227315722312_n.jp g?oh=eef3a816a73b9db5bec7b4b06db1b2f3&oe=578F1A52

Back onto the NCT jobs and up on the lift. I had found that one of the Hicas boots had a tear in it. It was near impossible to notice but I just had a horrible feeling that a tester would come across it by chance. Thankfully I was given a new boot by Jay1412 and I got that banged on and in place yesterday.

It occured to me yesterday that I'm probably one of very few people that has actually changed a HKS filter element, but when compared to the old filter element that was in there, you can see why i decided to get a new one.

I also finally got a new key cut as the original keys were splitting and ready to snap at any stage. They were almost worn down to nothing at this stage as well too! I've had the Nissan blank sitting around for ages and finally got around to having it cut from the key code on friday.

You can actually see in the picture where the original key is starting to split!

Cheers dude, I'm the same when it comes to build threads so I wanted to put as much detail in as possible without going overboard.

I got the caramel wheels from B&C Paints in Galway. They came to a total of €25. They're also known as a Pinstripe Removal Wheel or Toffee wheel. I can't recommend it enough for the job

So this is long overdue an update, there is one in the works. But to give a brief idea of what's been happening with the R32 lately, not much, would be the best way the describe it. Since the first proper drive to Japfest back in September, I probably got to drive it a handful of times before the engine started running horribly. To the point where it was almost undrivable and couldn't even maintain a cruising speed. It got to the point where it was knocking off while I was driving, about the very same time I started a new job. so between the new job, weather, and girlfriend, the skyline has barely gotten a look in since October.

Despite trying everthing I could prior to starting the job to track down the problem I've decided that I am going to head up to AP Performance with it once I get a chance and hopefully through a process of throwing money at the car I will get it sorted. I have a feeling most of the fuel system could do with replacing along with the coilpacks and coilpack loom. Unfortunately I don't have the time at the moment to properly work on the car and it's pretty miserable to have to return home from work every evening driving a Daewoo Lanos when you know you own an R32.

Anyway, I'll give a better update soon. Hopefully with pictures of overnight parts from Japan

Also I want to change the wheels. Any nice sets of 17" out there? Single piece, no multipieces....... along the lines of Advan RGII's or Something else cool

So it's update time as finally I got made use of the nice weather yesterday to work on the R32.

So after being let down massively after all my work last summer with the return of the debilitating misfire in the Skyline at anything over 3500 - 400RPM I decided just to park it up and wait to get a chance to bringing it to a tuner to look at.... well me being me, I couldn't be bothered waiting to do that.

So I did get a box of overnight parts which included 12 coilpacks, 2 coilpack looms, and a JIC Magic Decat Pipe courtesy of Andy Joyce in Japan. Now seemingly An Post doesn't care too much for parcel conditions but every was fine inside which was the important part.

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/1917862_10153584069943823_4717108910550262083_n.jp g?oh=a8992a4c66434ddf02f1a96bfb97b509&oe=5753DDF4

You'll have to imagine the contents as I didn't take a picture at the time, just think coilpacks. I decided that I would spend paddy's day trying to solve my misfire issue some more, so in preparation I went and got a new set of plugs, nothing special just the standard plugs and some Dielectrice Silicone Grease, Unfortunately no one in galway had heard of this before and all looked pretty stumped when I asked about it, but on a mission to try anything, I ordered some off ebay..... Of course it didn't arrived until this afternoon but as luck would have it, my dad actually had a tube of it in the shed, so i didn't have to put my plan on hold. My plan being to follow the instructions of this guy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qirx_G4x5i0

At this point I was wiling to give anything a shot. So I took all the coils off and took the sparkplugs out........ Seems they were the wrong plugs.....BPR8ES, pretty manky, something definitely awry here.

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xft1/v/t1.0-9/1458512_10153584067788823_6887228354077445283_n.jp g?oh=e5ac6b4948a8e2bdfc42c65c0486fe7a&oe=57843EB7

So I decided to fully follow what the dude does in the video and test the coilpacks and if there are any problematic ones that can be seen.

(See 19 seconds on in the video below)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YPrzXhn9ZM

So after testing them it was pretty clear to see there was a bit of an issue, this is where the dielectric silicone comes in

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-0/p206x206/1517672_10153584066593823_3669723341535185786_n.jp g?oh=5b927c67b20b5057852c71af307d1685&oe=574B30C1

As per the first video I cleaned off the coilpacks, took off the boots and applied lots of dielectric

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/940823_10153584066678823_4853920030343055198_n.jpg ?oh=317280fedd7774b8056330483cf70c47&oe=57579ABD

After these were all back together and I had used lots of dielectric, it was time to put in fresh sparks plugs, the right ones this time, BCPR6ES-11

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/1916019_10153584271438823_4198311725103280029_n.jp g?oh=50b3d5ad486d3a4c9e9b33cd93c8c2a4&oe=5787987A

Skip to an hour ahead in time and everything is bolted back on, Time for a test run. So things were a bit iffy at first, engine started fine, idled fine, car stuttered and hesitated a bit while i was driving to a main road. After a minute or too of being stuck behind a tractor, I wen to over take and my god, what a difference it revved so freely up to redline without missing a single beat. I've never had the car run so good before.

All said and done, I highly recommend the aussie guys guide for coilpacks.

In other news, I also got some new wheels, a lovely set of R33 GTRs. I picked them up back at the end of January from Johnnyrb.

Again, I only got around to putting these on last weekend

Before:

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xlf1/v/t1.0-9/10398579_10153584069508823_3337272553885237879_n.j pg?oh=9d4e0300c9a0eea33360461e025345b9&oe=579664B1

After:

I had to raise the suspension a bit as the fronts a just a small bit too wide because of the bolt on spacers I have, but I'll sort that further down the line.

Next on the list of things to do is to wire in this old school Apexi RSM that my bro got me for xmas.

https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/1909967_10153584066493823_114392261421602826_n.jpg ?oh=b4ae7f9ecc11d20f50714b9ed20f6812&oe=5796DA5F

So that's everything for this very second in time, will have another short post tomorrow probably
