Hey lads and ladies, been on this a while now but haven't been so active.Anyway I decided to throw up my build.
Mainly doing this to make sure I see it finished fully and don't start using it in anger and decide it's grand how it is.

http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o759/lox_y/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2015-03-24-20-24-45_zps8lfsbjma.png (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/lox_y/media/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2015-03-24-20-24-45_zps8lfsbjma.png.html)
I bought this car a few months back because I wanted the hardtop bumper and a few bits and bobs for my road car which I intended to use for practice days.
Anyway my imagination got the better of my and I decided to build a separate track car.

So I picked up a bmw v8 and 6 speed box.
Plan is to keep it simple and use mostly standard parts so hopefully it will be reliable and keep me smiling.
It's down with gripfab now for the main work to be done cage, fit engine, wiring and the likes.
Once it comes back il take most of the bits to finish it from my road car and leave that fairly standard.

Cheers man

I hope to have it done by October once it's back it's just a case of swapping stuff from the road car into it.
Won't be much to update for a few more weeks.

Should be a fun yoke to drive especially on a good day with the roof off

Gathered up a few bits

Powerflex bushings for the rear subframe diff and trailing arm.
These really transformed my last car so stick with tried and true parts
Obp .625 cylinder and hydro really like the fact it has a latch to hold it locked
Replica OMP deep dished seems like a strong wheel
255lph fuel pump.

Would like 18" 11j et8 Rears
And 17" 9j xxr 526 fronts
Won't be sorting out wheels till its ready to drift but a guy can hope right?

the price of these is asctually reasionable compared to the price of them a year ago or more, i got a quote on a set of them in 11" all round for my rx7 a while back before driftworks became a supplier of them and they could only be got in the states. the gave me a quote of near 1800euro at the time so the idea of running a set of them swiftly went out of my head.

They are a good price for the widths and offsets they come in would love to have them up front but I doubt I'd get decent lock with 18s.

Nitrous express wet kit to support up to a 150hp shot
Not really sure about it and I know alot of people wouldn't be gone on them but sure I got it handy so why not.
Plan on running the car on a 75 shot on WOT.
Anybody know where I can get this filled in galway??
Should have pics of how the car sits now over the weekend

Which v8 engine are u using m60b40 or m62b44. I always called all convertables shit but jesus after seen chizfabs convertable on driftworks i love one as a drift car

lox
08-08-15, 20:12
It's an m60b40 from a low mile e34.
I love the look of them especially with decent wheels and stupidly low.

What u gonna do bout the sump ?? Apperently the hit the subframe alpina one of dry sump seems to be d only option I've been lookin into this swap myself

lox
14-08-15, 21:16
Yeah they are two options but the alpina sump is hard got and dry sump would cost too much so im just getting the subframe modified to let the engine sit down.

Should have it back at the end of the end of this month will update with pics then.

Small update cage underway pick up points for the subframe in
Engine is mounted ended up dropping the centre section of the subframe and steering rack 20mm il have to make up offset rack spacers to move the track rods back to factory position.
Wishbone mounting points stayed in the factory position.
http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o759/lox_y/Mobile%20Uploads/20150828_140518_zpsxcxntx6q.jpg (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/lox_y/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150828_140518_zpsxcxntx6q.jpg.html)
The v8 is sitting very low and it's back as far as the firewall. The tunnel will need to be modified to accept the box aswell as the exhaust.
Im really impressed with how the lads in stone motorsport are pulling it together.
This car will end up as my perfect e36 I can't wait to get it sideways.

I have a full e46 330i brake set up to go into it aswell 325mm front discs and 280mm rear disc ... Or close enough on those sizes.

Used a jap speed rad for a s14 along with samco reducers nice tidy job.
E34 headers modded 2" stainless back joining together into 2 and a half inch pipe. Serious sound off it decided against a back box purely because of the sound it made. Will be able to run very low as the exhaust is well up out of the way.
Hydro in along with all new copper lines.
Switch panel in and my dash cluster is replaced with a tacho, water temp gauge, charging light and oil light.
Cobra seat and rails in
Wiring is nice and simple 5 fuses and a couple of relays located behind the switch panel.
Crash bars front and rear in.
Fair bit left for doing and it will take a fair bit of time because work is mental.
Need to get a new power steering pump because the engine came out of an odd ball e34 that uses a steering box.

Got the use of a garage today such comfort.
Almost finished.
Car is off for paint first thing in the morning should be back friday morning then iv a list of small jobs to get through and with a bit of luck a bit of craic on Saturday.
It's almost as low as I want it but ultimately I will have to raise it up a bit at the front because my steering rack is a bit close to the ground ( 25mm close).

Right the car made it to auto hero's but didn't make it past pit lane as it was ridiculously loud 129db loud.... so car went back on the trailer and I was left feeling disappointed and frankly a bit stupid for not addressing the noise of it. Less learned.
As I was loading the car up Dave came over to explain the situation better and keep everyone happy. In the end my mate offered me the use of his Red 1jz soarer to run in the middle group as the day turned out pretty good. Again I can't thank my mate Eddie enough it's not everyone that will offer you there pride and joy and encourage ya to drive it on so massive respect to you man.
Right so back to the e36 and what needs attention before its next outing where my goal is set a but higher than getting to the event and actually getting a few laps in.
It's over fueling,
It's pig loud,
It's blowing the wiper motor fuse,
It needs rear camber arms, currently it's at -2°45" camber far from ideal.
So true to form my first order of business after coming from auto hero's was to drop the car off at the painters so money will be tight for the important stuff

Long overdue update tho iv not really done a whole lot with.
Tidied up the rear end and fitted powerflex bushes.
Fitted aem wideband meter still running a little rich but not bad have a adjustable fuel pressure regulator on the way.
Sorted the wiper fuse blowing ended up being the wiper motor so sorted that and put it back in good as new.
Few more safety items like arm restraints extinguishers and external kill switch.
Sorted the exhaust out using two flowmaster silencers... brought it from 129.8Db down to 102Db and still kept the rumbles.
New rear brake hoses and copper lines.
Need to fit a new power steering pump should have it next week
Need to get camber arms but funds are low at the minute so I did the unthinkable and raised the car to sort the camber out a little bit for the time being.

Cheers man, it's something iv wanted for years so finally went for it. Should be mostly done next weekend, in time for its first outing, the iadc licence day not the best time to hop into a new build but sure it will be awesome to finally drive it.

I think the RF Bodyworx vinyl could have been worked into the main graphic a bit better, they contrast too much as it is. Good effort though.

if im honest i think the whole lot came out pretty poor.
The main graphic was ordered alot bigger the rf bodyworx was ordered in white and i had two more vinyls ordered which the couldnt do yet still took the order and only told me the couldnt do them when i called into them.
I just slapped them on for the time being to give me an idea and maybe changes to make for when i get them re-done.

So im ready to go test the car hopefully it holds up and takes a bit of hardship whilst i try to get comfortable with it and ultimately i get used to drifting again. Half practice day in my mates car and a couple of doughnuts before loading the e36 up yesterday is as much drifting iv done since 2012 and i wasnt so good back then.
i'm really looking forward to getting in this car on monday, its a massive step up from the 323i i used in 2012.

Bit of an update

Got out for a day at the iadc licence day had a blast of a time even tho I didn't qualify it was awesome just to drive the car.
Had a few minor problems on the day, so these problems coupled with my lack of talent (mainly lack of talent) are my excuses for not driving well.
My brakes need a bit of attention had a job to get the hydro working on the day and when it did work it needed a fair tug to lock up so il skim the discs and put in new pads.
Anybody recommend a decent upgrade over oem brake pads??

Also my powersteering pump decided it didn't want to work after literally 2 minutes, I had a second hand pump fitted as new ones were hard to find and about 600e.
No way am I paying that for a pump so I'm going to piece together an electric system using a pump from a c4, c-max or something must look into it a bit more first.
Apart from those two small issues the car is way better to drive than I expected.
Will lower it more and change out the front springs for 14kg ones.

Thanks for the comments lads.
So iv booked in to tynagh on the 8th get a bit more driving done, hopefully with no problems :)
Haven't done anything with the brakes as yet,
I have fitted an electric powersteering pump from an astra all plumbed and mounted, just need to wire it up properly and heat shield it.
As the original pump is removed I have a shorter belt to go on but needed to modify the tensioner so I removed the self tensioner and will replace the spring with a solid stainless unit so that should see it all finished and running.
It's a pretty straight forward swap most awkward thing was making a mount for it.
While I was at the tensioner I decided I'd make up a new gear lever as the current one was a bit last minute, not that user friendly and a bit shit looking.
That's pretty much where it's at right now.

Spent a few hours at this today.
Sorted out some of the niggly bits that annoyed me and degrease the engine bay after a power steering pipe decided to let go.
It was running a bit lean after the last day out so had a look into it, vacuum hose had cracked, replaced it and it was on the button luckily as my knowledge is limited.
Took a pic aswell that I liked so I said I'd post it
