As some of you may know I recently broke my SR20 powered R32, the car was a lot of fun and I really loved it but with some new road laws coming into Ireland it was quite clear that it was going to be a complete nightmare to try and get the car road legal which I had decided that, going forward, I wanted any car I owned to be.

It was a massive shame to have to break the car as it meant a lot to me but having it sitting around doing nothing just made no sense to me.

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/driftescort/IMG_2100_zps0bee4f9a.jpg (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/driftescort/media/IMG_2100_zps0bee4f9a.jpg.html)

I believe that I will have another R32 one day but once I had decided to break mine I had a little think about where I was going with cars. I think anyone involved in drifting has had the 'I should sell up everything and just buy a nice normal road car' thoughts at one point or another and I was no different. I even started to look pretty intensely at BMW E61 Diesels but there was another car that kept entering my head also, a car that I had always wanted to own, to see what it was like to drive/drift and learn more about the chassis of by developing it myself. That car was a JZX chassis car.

Once I had settled the idea that I wanted to start looking for a 'JZX' in my mind ghen it was time to decide which one. Now I appreciate all types of JZX cars and so this decision took a little time, I considered all sorts; JZX90 MKII, JZX81 MKII, JZX100 Chaser and even put serious consideration into bidding on some Verossas I saw in the auctions but I finally settled on a JZX100 MKII.

This seemed a wise choice to me as compared to the 81 and 90 the 100 is that bit newer but also would not cost quite as much or be as hard to find parts for as the Verossa. I decided the MKII was the JZX100 chassis I wanted as firstly they are a bit more of a rare sight on this side of the world when compared to the Chaser and secondly I prefer the way they look.

So with that decision made I begun my hunt, pretty much immediately I realised that finding the car I wanted in the UK or Ireland was not going to be a viable option, I turned to the Japanese auction sites and Yahoo Auctions Japan (YAJ). I enlisted the help of JDMDistro - Buy JDM Parts Online Worldwide Shipping | Japanese performance car parts direct from Japan (http://www.jdmdistro.com/) in this search who I must say have been a massive help throughout the whole process.

There was a couple of cars that popped up in the auctions that got my interest but for various reasons where not suitable for me. It turned into a daily ritual of checking the auctions and checking YAJ. Then one day a car that seemed to fit the bill appeared on YAJ, it was a good colour, good spec and a fair (buy it now) price, I was all set to make a purchase! Unfortuantley someone else beat me to the 'buy it now' button. I was a little dismayed but continued the search, however a couple of days later I got a message from JDMDistro informing me that the same car was back up on YAJ! It appeared the person that had tried to buy it before me could not actually come up with the money (well that is what I think I think I gathered from the google translation of the advert). I wasted no time in telling JDMDistro to go for it and after a nervous couple of hours got a message from the guys simply saying 'We have bought a car' Brilliant!

So here is what I bought; a 1998 JZX100 MKII with a few simple mods such as Vertex Aero, Tein coilovers, FMIC, Power FC, uprated clutch and some adjustable arms. Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, it would appear not everyone in Japan is as technologically advanced as you would think, it would aseem the 'man in Japan' has a camera phone from 2003, but anyway:

At the time of writing the car is on a boat on it's way to Dublin port with an ETA of 25th April, I am excited to get my hands on it but this is also very close to my college exams so I think realistically it is going to be late May before I can really start getting stuck into it. I do not have any 'out of this world' plans for it just yet I mainly just want to get it looking the part as it already seems to have enough mods in the power and handling department to make it fun. In my head the immediate plan is, fix up any bodywork that needs doing, fit cool wheels and much much lower.

With that in mind I have be collecting a few little bits awaiting the car's arrival:

https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/19795_10206303548246209_5003025924209733254_n.jpg? oh=17a96550e4ca640ae6ec8d2b39b77c4b&oe=55AD4400

That is the VS-KFs I still have from the R32 (Although I plan to switch the 17 inch fronts out for 18s), a new Nardi Deep Corn steering wheel (thanks to DW), a GX100 grill and LED side and bumper lights.

I think that, along with a healthy lowering should have it looking the part pretty quickly, here is a little inspiration:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/11119816_676830269109791_1275987693236626223_n.jpg ?oh=49d51be9682d965ac22fc1ee65559605&oe=559B30B2&__gda__=1437281668_e587eabef51a35b802b19d627bee70e 2

The only other thing I think I would like to source relatively soon is at least one, but preferably a pair, of Red Bride Zeta 3s. So if anyone has a lead on them let me know.

So that is pretty much the story up to know, I will go back to refreshing the boat tracking website!

Little bit of an update.

So I got a surprising but rather nice message from JDMDistro on Friday informing me that the car was in the country and was at their place ready for collection. Great!

They were also kind enough to send me some better quality photos:

Apart from a little bit of paint required on the aero, which I will get sorted ASAP it all looks good to me! I always thought the interior of it looked 'different' to most other JZXs I had seen but none of the pictures taken in Japan where clear enough to work out why. Turns out it has a Garson interior! Nice!

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/driftescort/11156988_1101991589816339_741966487_n_zpsmlts1dm0. jpg (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/driftescort/media/11156988_1101991589816339_741966487_n_zpsmlts1dm0. jpg.html)

So now I just need to find time to go collect it.

The interior looks funky, but cool. Looks to be an upgraded rad on it along with the other mods. :)

I have been quite busy with University these days but found ten minutes or so to fit a few parts I had lying around:

Traum gearknob:

Nardi Deep-Corn, thanks to Driftworks for that:

and the GX100 grill (headlights really need a clean up):

Well, it has been a little while.

Due to moving to the UK for the summer and then immediately flying to the US to attend Final Bout it has not been possible for me to work on the JZX at all. However, I am now back in Ireland and before university gets too heavy and also full of enthusiasm from Final Bout I decided to crack on and do something with this.

So while I was in the UK a parcel turned up that I had been excited about which contained the new wheels:

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/driftescort/IMG_41301_zpsaz3gu8l0.jpg (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/driftescort/media/IMG_41301_zpsaz3gu8l0.jpg.html)

18x9.5 ET12 Volk TE37s in Bronze.

Once again a huge thanks to http://www.jdmdistro.com/ for importing these for me. It could not have been easier.

So I knew to really get me enthused I needed some inspiration, so with more important jobs put to one side I got some tyres I had lying around fitted to the TEs and busted out the C-Spanners:

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/driftescort/11149584_10207643576306073_6153165143693925624_n_z psfktnr465.jpg (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/driftescort/media/11149584_10207643576306073_6153165143693925624_n_z psfktnr465.jpg.html)

I am not going to lie, my vision for the car was a little clouded before this but now I can see exactly where I am going with the car.

I have some new suspension on the way for the car in the next couple of weeks and hope to finalise the ride height then, I would like to see the rear sitting a little lower than it is in the above pictures. The aero also needs a little tidying and then it is just make sure it is running 100%, do some lock mods and then hopefully hit the track ASAP to start chucking it around.

I dont know is it the gravel but that looks low as it is. It has transformed the look of the car though. Wheels suit perfectly.

people in ireland always have commitment issues with running there car low due to the roads but you have done good :)

supposable jzx handly shit when low but as said you need track time to figure what works for you :D

love how this looks now billy must say i was shocked to see you go with te37s rather then the vs kf but the te's look incredible :)

Quick update. I have been trying to get as much as possible done to the car in-between college work which is proving a little hard but I have got a few bits and pieces done.

I located a Blitz Nur Spec exhaust to replace the old, mostly stock, exhaust system that was on the car. I was really happy with how it fitted and got it all fitted pretty quickly:

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/driftescort/9697CA3A-84B3-4625-A35C-6AA58A9C5637_zpsyrp1yxar.jpg (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/driftescort/media/9697CA3A-84B3-4625-A35C-6AA58A9C5637_zpsyrp1yxar.jpg.html)

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/driftescort/607BCABD-C0F5-49C5-83EB-5D59F24D47DA_zps6b66hm2j.jpg (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/driftescort/media/607BCABD-C0F5-49C5-83EB-5D59F24D47DA_zps6b66hm2j.jpg.html)

It is a twin box system and has a nice tone but is not overly loud. At first I thought I would like it to be a bit louder but maybe it is better as it is as I want the car to use on the road, also the cat is still fitted at them moment.

Next exciting delivery was my new suspension, I was excited for this one!

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/driftescort/11D0E643-2489-4CC6-BC61-8AC41C2CC1C7_zpsldmagh1j.jpg (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/driftescort/media/11D0E643-2489-4CC6-BC61-8AC41C2CC1C7_zpsldmagh1j.jpg.html)

Tein SuperDrift and EDFC Active Pro. I had SuperDrifts on my old R32 and absolutely loved them so I was more than happy to go with them again for the JZX. This time though I added EDFC Active Pro which I am really excited to get fitted and start tuning it.

EDFC Active works by measuring the G-Force the car is experiencing and also the speed it is travelling at and actively changing the dampening setting on each one of the dampers individually to suit. I think it will work great for drifting once fully tuned as well as making the car nicer to just drive on the street.

If you are interested, here is a video to give you an idea of how it works:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGtTxaHhZi4

I got the SuperDrifts fitted soon after they arrived but am yet to wire up the EDFC.

Unreal jzx man fair play :) and as Noel stated earlier this no doubt will be another epic build from you! Amazing how a set of wheels and some lows change a cars look completely
