What's the VRT on a UK registered 180sx these days?

Same as a standard 180sx coming from Japan. Been through this process on my mx5.

You sure about that? Your mx5 was a jap car VRTed in the UK and then imported to ireland yeah? Still don't know how much though :p

yeah was a Eunos imported to UK in 2008, had to pay the same VRT as a standard jap import. Been through it a month ago.

Edit I checked for a PS13 2 months ago and it was €790, would have been the same as that. Its taken off the vrt site now. They are probably changing the price now due to more imports coming in, exact same as what happened Mossyhenry with his R32 on here.

Pretty sure there is no UK vrt
Hence any import to Ireland having to pay it regardless of country of origin/ initial registration
Check out exporting Irish cars that we paid vrt on
I get at least 2k to export my M3 !!

Nope no vrt in the uk. Their registration is a £55 admin fee, then their vat and import duty same as here.

Do they value the car based on condition? Or just the model and engine size?

Dave

It used to be model and engine size anyway. I would pm mossyhenry as he got his r32 when they took the skyline off the vrt site. He could tell you what they considered to get the value.

regardless of condition? That's roughly what i've budgeted but don't want to go spending money making it look good it it will increase the VRT.

Condition doesn't matter, the car could be a minter or a piece of shit you'll still pay the same vrt

yup marty is right, yer man didnt give two shits about any of the extras when i was there recently. chassis number, does it go into gear and mileage.

but then again if they want it inspected maybe you might not be so lucky. but most of the time its straight forward.

I'd hazard a guess at around 1600 for 180. When I bought my rb26 r34 last year in from Japan I checked vrt and was 1100. Then when got it in and inspected they seen had rb26 swap. Made me get engineers report and then requested 4800e. But I paid 9850 for car in total and then 3692e in customs and vat so they were valuing the car very high. Bunch of robbers
I exported my kazama 180 to Scotland which reminds me I must claim back vrt lol
let us know how you get on.

You have to give notice that you intend to export to the best of my knowledge, then you need to do so within a month. So ive been told how true it is i dont know lol

Right lads, small update on this. The car turns out to be a Cat C write off in the UK. I couldn't get the export cert or registration cert as a result. I can bring it up to belfast and get a VIC check done on it, which from what i hear is like an in depth niggly MOT. It only costs 50 pounds. They check to see if the repairs are carried out to a satisfactory standard which i have no doubt they are. Has anyone got any experience with VIC checks?

I know this is a complicated and expensive route, but to me the car is worth it and I like to do things legally
