I have been into drifting for as long as i can remember thanks to my dad. He has had his 180 for about 8-9 years now i believe. Its what i learnt to drive in and have been hooked ever since.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7539/15857076717_9d87731d47.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qaeEsr)
I was also lucky enough to go to japan with my family for a holiday and while we where there we went to ebisu for round 1 of the 2008 D1GP! Got to meet so many drivers that i have been endlessly watching in DVD's and on youtube!
Bit of car history (will be short)
My first car was a 1989 AE92 corolla. Loved this wee car! Unfortunately had to sell it as i was moving to the mainland from northern ireland.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7489/16042814525_a79670620a.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qrDBQr)
After a while i was ready to buy another car and had to be RWD so i got myself an import MK1 Mx5. Drove it for a while but wasnt really me!
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7570/16042086772_7c43e7711a.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qrzTuY)
so i sold it and i was carless AGAIN! Decided it was time to get a car that i would be happy with and not get it just cause it was RWD!
So after some searching i realised that finding a clean s13 was going to be a problem! Found a few that i wanted but when came to putting down the deposit the owners backed out of the sale!
After exhausting alot of efforts i came across a completely standard s13 auto with 64000 miles on the clock so got my dad to go look at it since it was in Northern ireland! He went and looked at it and told me it was a good solid car! that was enough for me the money was transfered and i now owned a s13.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7475/16040799741_09c8ac68f5.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qrthUM)
Problems:
It was and automatic!
My job didnt allow me to come and pick the car up for a few months! Was gutted!
so again I (my dad mostly haha) was hunting on the internet getting parts for the conversion. Got converted then i got a call i didnt want to hear! the gearbox was SH*T! Got Paul at PJS auto engineering to take it apart and tell me what was wrong because it was supposed to be a reconditioned box! The issue was whoever rebuilt it didnt clean it properly and dirt! yes dirt! was the issue. Once it was put back together it was perfect :)
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7521/16016958176_bbb7fc5a24.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qpn6Dj)

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7532/15855307468_5f8859ca48.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qa5Aw9)
After that i bought some BC Racing coilovers got them put in and then i came and collected the car! Drove it about for a while!
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8640/15856694139_4986e3db59.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qacGJg)
Got the diff welded by Stuart Roy off SXOC, he was a great guy and many thanks to him!
Next was to look for some wheels! The biggest issue i had was eventually i want to go 5 stud so do i buy some cheap 4 stud wheels and save up for the 5 stud conversion then buy new wheels again.
Luckily Chris Burnett had his Works VS's up for sale and the best bit was there are both 4 and 5 x 114.3 :)
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7507/16017241906_84077a5e79.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qpoxZd)
I was really happy with them! Genuine 3 piece works wheels :D got the front two wrapped in Nankang NS2-R's and the rears in some random landsail tyre :)
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7558/15856967509_f961d840ff.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qae6Zx)
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8584/16041063831_df9f56b5d8.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qruDq4)
Got my wheels on the car! Perfect fitment no need for spacers to clear brakes or to bring the out the arch :) excuse the 4x4 ride hide it will get lowered when the weather gets better. Even more so when i get my hands on an arch roller. Again mine and my dads in the background.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7525/15855572958_3de33ce531.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qa6Xry)
Being happy with the new wheels and the grip of the Nankangs would be an understatement!
I got a set of BRIDE seats for the Mx5 but didnt get round to fitting them! So they sat in my parents roof space! when i knew i was coming over i ordered the Driftworks low seat rails. My early Christmas present to myself!
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8668/15857250137_a6dda1dd40.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qafy1r)
No time at all was taken to fit them! The seat rails where a great job! now it matches with my bride door cards and glove box :)

Also seen this BRIDE bag and sad i know but just had to buy it!

oh and we had snow for about a day if that but still managed to have some fun ;)

Well had my first drift day out in the car! It was the most fun i have had!
My dad an I with the help of Slawomir Adamski got a few hours booked at Eglington which was more than enough!
So we loaded the cars this morning with enough tyres, fuel and fluids that we could possibly need then we set off! It was about an hour and a half drive.
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8645/16064841002_8d20849123_z.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qtAvxh)
We arrived got everything unloaded and changed the tyres!
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7466/15879847927_a6bf96e870_z.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qcfnxv)
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7501/16065649165_3e3f650dec_z.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/qtEDM8)
I took my time just learning the car! Weather was raining at the start of the day then it stopped. The track was still damp. stopped for a bit to take turns just to get a few pictures (bad pictures at that) then we cracked on until our time was up.

I wore my helmet for two reasons first i spent the money on it so i was gonna use it and secondly because i had a GO PRO on it! Once i have had a look might try do a small edit :) but expect hands all over the place and maybe a few swear words!
Interesting thing i learnt about the car was that with ABS it stops your brakes working when your going backwards! so next thing is ABS OUT! and then more track time :)
Looked at some of my GoPro footage and put a small video together of some good bits :) Im happy with how i got on considering its my first time out on track and drifting :)

Now on to my car :) So you would think that not much has happened to the car or bought for the car well.... even when im
thousands of miles away i cant help myself. Again thanks to my dad for recieving all my car parts :) and
sorry to my mum who had to deal with a hall full of parts! i came home to these beauties :)
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8730/16419332384_aa72c32dfa_z.jpg
(https://flic.kr/p/r1VntE)
With all these parts and the Horsham Developments stage two i should have a bit more grunt :) even after i
got back parts where still arriving :D

went to drift event that my dad was competing at when i got back here are a few pictures of him.

While I was there i bought a roll cage :) needed a good sand down and paint but i was more than happy with
it. Especially when i found out that it was a cusco half cage!
So i started fitting parts fitted the Blitz air filter

Then sanding and painting the cage and drilling holes in my car... was hope i marked it out right. I wanted
to keep the car as neat and street looking as possible :) while i was drilling holes and rust proofing
everything my dad started cutting the holes on the rear interior panels for the cage and here is the result!
as you can probably tell i am over the moon with how good it looks :) (dont you just love the ebisu towel
haha)

Now to get out on track! It is booked for tuesday and saturday so more seat time and some more
pictures/videos coming soon :)
Also treated myself to some bright red Sparco racing gloves. Why? because i thought all the cool drifters
had them!

Well Tuesday came and as usual i get nervous/excited the works!
second time out in the car and first time drifting in the dry in the car so didn't know what to expect to be honest!
left early to get there in enough time here are the two cars ready to go :)
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7590/17061686366_de904e156f.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/rZFAWj)
I got on not to bad, was focusing mostly on entries, initiating etc wasnt to bothered about linking the track.
I put the GoPro on during my first few runs but ended up taking it off calming down a lil bit. i got on alot better in the later part of the day and didn't care that i didn't get it recorded!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-SLoxBemDQ
In the video you can hear me rubbing when i spun, so nothing a hammer cant solve :)
Later on in the day it was rubbing when i was on full lock so should hopefully be sorted for next outing :)

It's been a while since my last update and this is only a lil one :)
Last drift day was good was really getting onto the car! Was coming to the end of the day and famous last words just going to do one more lap. The tyres where starting to let go but was fun slidng about with NO grip. Just as I was coming off throttle to come into pits and to end the day my right hand tyre burst! And it burst with a Big Bang! Slowed right down to stop the delamed tyre flapping all over the place. Got out the car and I noticed the damage! Was a lil gutted at first but it's drifting!
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/308/18086448004_25c2f3784e_z_d.jpg
Also a great excuse for the new kit which will be coming soon ;)
So the car at the moment is left with my mechanic Paul from PJS auto engineering! Reason being is that I'm away again!
I wanted all my new bits fitted for when I got back so took it up to him and he is fitting my Intercooler, new turbo, manifold etc..
Yes I could of done the work myself but it wouldn't of been to as a high standard and most importantly it wouldn't of looked as good!
As usual my dad is sending me pictures of the car throughout it's stages :)

And what would an update be without some new parts :) when you have nothing to do but sit about in between work, buying car parts online is my biggest problem..
Since Im going to be running the Horsham developments stage 2 chip with the mods Paul suggested a fuel regulator might be worth getting so I went and ordered a nice TOMEI one with a guage! Looked at eBay looked at cheap ones but in the end JDM points prevailed :)

CUSCO!! My dad ran one on his CA s13 missile car so thought what's the harm :)

A mint set of KOUKI lights for the rear :) thanks to Tom o'hare :D

I have also ordered these! They are supposed to be a plug and play adapter kit for kouki lights. Hopefully they work and I won't have to butcher my wiring :)

This is just a little update just to you what stage the car is. Last time you seen it, it was with Paul Scullion at PJS Auto engineering http://pjsautoengineering.co.uk/ getting is stage two. I can happily say that it is now finished and mot’d for another year. I can't thank paul enough the work he has done has been second to none!

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/389/20200397415_7ac53122b2_z.jpg
I am really happy with the way the car has turned out! The work is top quality and better than what I could have done! First of all the cage, since its my road car I wanted it put in as suttle as possible and he done well!

Also got my Greddy boost controller and placed it just above the steering wheel so I could see it easily. Got the idea from Danny Isabell in his laurel.
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/456/20012355980_ee30605440_z.jpg
And got myself a Broadway mirror because JDM

Here are a few pictures of the parts fitted to the car and where they got positioned

My manifold has gone the nice gold colour before it discolours.
Also before the turbo, manifold and elbow went on all the surfaces where skimmed to make sure the perfect seal would be made. this will hopefully mean i wont have to replace gaskets as much. All new gaskets where fitted aswell

A few things I forgot to mention was that I got the wiring loom that is near the manifold and turbo moved out of the way from the heat. The reason I got this done was because my dad had issues with his melting so I thought preventative maintenance is better than rectification.
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/287/20125455030_2d859336e0_z.jpg
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/259/20305080802_ab1968bbdf_z.jpg
This corner of the engine bay is looking pretty clean atm with the ABS fully removed. Paul from PJS has a great attention to detail and made it as clean and factory looking as possible. This was my first car with ABS and I didn’t like it at all specially in a drift car.
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/259/20305080802_ab1968bbdf_z.jpg
If you have read my thread you will realise that my right hand rear quarter to a bit of a hit when my tyre exploded in a spectacular fashion. That is all repaired now. Paul welded up the rear quarter smoothed it all down and sprayed it so she is all straight again… FOR NOW haha
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/415/19690860654_07e7778b67_z.jpg
Was really happy with the kouki lights but had to do somting about the lower panel so went to my local halfrauds and got paint mixed up. Match was okay going to try sand it down and get a better match but for now it looks good.
https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3760/20287253956_3f31cf348d_z.jpg
Since I got the car mot’d in northern Ireland it failed on the welded diff so had to buy an open diff to get it threw the mot. All this hassle just to keep it on the street… makes me think I would have been better buying a track car and jeep and trailer.
NOW this is the really cool part! Since I was driving about with a one wheel spinner and my birthday is coming up my dad went away and came back with a kaaz 2-way diff! so early birthday/Christmas present for me! Can’t thank him enough! That is getting fitted this week then next week booking the track for some skids.
If your in northern ireland and need any work done I cant recommend Paul Scullion at http://pjsautoengineering.co.uk/ enough he has built some serious drift cars, race cars and rally cars. he is a one stop shop for everything you could want or need
Looking good dude. Ha wish my dad would be buying me a 2way for my birthday. Keep it goin

Another update!
I got the 2-way built up into a spare casing we had then attempted my first diff change. Had my dad’s help at the back of the house so got it up on axel stands and started to try and get it out and 3 hours later it was in. went a test drive and car felt great new power and new diff. I don’t know if it’s just me but the 2-way seems easier to slide with than the welded but who knows. Gave the diff casing a lick of paint. SHINEY!!!

After the test drive then it was time to book the track, get tyres and finally have some fun. Got the car all loaded up the night before. Checked fluids and done a nut and bolt check.

Finally the day came and we got to the track! Didn’t take many pictures or videos. The new power makes such a difference and it was great jumping from my car to my dads! Over 400bhp is amazing fun to drive!

Cannot wait to destroy some tyres again!
Now this is a very exciting bit of news for me! While up at local fibreglass/bodykit man Mario’s place he said he knew where a kouki bumper was so I had to have it! Thanks to him I now own a genuine plastic kouki front bumper and lip!

Well its been a while since I have updated this.
So first of all hope everyone had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year :)
Since I last updated this i went to Driftland on 13th of September! My dad came over from Northern Ireland, the track is amazing and i cant wait to get back. Unfortunately my car had problems and wouldn't boost at all.. I was gutted about the car but finally sourced the problem down to a blocked CAT. Which is now gone! So i have boost again!! Didnt take many pictures at all or use my go pro as with no boost driving was terrible.

first run out on track was with Mark Web in his JZ RX7
So not much happened for a while apart from i have moved back to England, so now im leaving near Wolverhampton.
I hadn't been drifting since september so when i went home for christmas to see my parents my dad and i booked the track out three times :) only for a couple hours at a time but was great to be back sliding :)

new drift wheels looking good on the back :) prefer drifting on 17" more grip more control :)

My dad finally getting to grips with 3rd gear and boy does it shoot out some smoke!
These days weren't without issues, first day my exhaust decided it didnt want to be part of the car anymore.. Next track day the turbo gasket started blowing so bad i couldn't boost right. Turns out that the turbo was coming away from the manifold. So off came the turbo and i replaced the gasket and went drifting again :) Only had the GoPro out on the last day so made a little edit :) had so much fun!

And somthing even more exciting is that i know have thee full Kouki kit :) all i need is the JDM rear bumper which i will pick up next month. I am not going to fit it just yet, going to do a few more pratice days and then get the whole kit fitted in may time ready for summer :)
nice to see this still around, did you do much to the car at all in the meantime?
I suppose its now easier as well to attend a few practice days over in UK (even tho im not sure how close or far away it would be)

Thanks, it will be about for sometime I hope :) With regards to the car it's still stage 2 and all did was maintain it :) no need for more power at the moment, a little bit extra lock would be nice tho.
This year I'm also racing karts, the season starts in April can't wait!
Here is a small video of us messing around on our track in an old hanger in the drift karts :) getting my twinning practice in lol

Recently not much has been happening to the car, I had issues with my turbo gasket blowing them studs snapped in my manifold and just was a pain really.
I bought a new exhaust which is a full 3" system just a cheap one but better than the restrictive standard one.
It was sitting far to low and was scrapping everywhere and as you can tell my car isn't low at all. I got a local guy to fix that for me as I was going to Santapod on the 30th.
Picked the car up and at first I was over the moon no blowouts sitting a lot higher and just felt great. The car sarted misfiring so I threw in a new set of plugs and that was sorted. Packed the car up and was ready for Pod. On the way the exhaust started dragging, I pulled over and it had fell off the back two rubbers hlding it up... I put the rubbers back on and continued to Santapod. When I got there it was off again, I popped it back on changed my wheels and went to drivers briefing.
I jumped in the car ready for the first run and it didn't go that well.. I was messy car felt to loose and as annoyed with myself. That was the trend for the whole morning.. Since Pod is a bumpy track after one lap my exhaust was hanging off every time I came in I put it back on and went out again.
The track closed for lunch. Up until this point I was running on my old standard 15" wheels, before the track opened again I swapped to my 17" drift wheels and what a transformation that made! Car felt great and I started to put down some decent runs that I was happy with :) Here are a few pictures and a video from the drift day.

And nope it's not getting swapped for RB SR or JZ she is staying CA! The mighty CA shall live again :)

I haven't updated this for a while due to the car being in Northern Ireland and me being in England.
There have been a few changes to the car since the last post and it should be ready in the next couple of weeks. I was weighing up the options of what to do with my blown engine. Replace it with another unknown condition engine. Rebuild my current engine to the way it was. Swap the CA for an SR (everybody says to SR swap) or rebuild the engine with forged parts and build my ideal s13.
Well needless to say i decided to build my ideal s13 or as close to it as possible. The biggest shock of all..... I stayed CA!
I started looking into what kind of power i wanted to run. I'm no pro and don't plan on competing unless it was for fun at this present time anyway. Looking for reliability and and engine that will allow me to get as much seat time as possible.
I decided to go down the forged route and SPOOL performance do a forged rebuild kit for the CA so i went for that. I also got some tasty goodies for the turbo set up, A TRUST GReddy manifold, TRUST GReddy TD05-18G turbo and precision external wastegate. I will be getting the wastegate part of the manifold changed to v band so i will have less leaks/gasket problems. Tomei Poncams, APexi PFCU and hand controller for the CA18. GReddy timing belt, Nismo 600cc injectors and an ACT 6 puck clutch. Sorry for all the pictures!!
