Will need to source an A/C pump and take it apart for the bracket, to support the power steering pump. Otherwise it will put a lot of strain on the pas pump due to vibration.

Swapped the cable driven speed sensor for an electronic one from a spare box that I had lying around

Encountered some issues though, gearbox came without a bellhousing, but it did come with a fork. Never bothered checking what setup it was from. Ended up shit, way too short. New one on the way from Toyota.

Also decided to go change my rack bushes out as there was a fair bit of play in the steering and you could notice the rack moving.

Run clutch line to passenger side
Replace water pump (OEM 1JZ has a plastic impeller)

Also, the turbo inlet that I got, does not seem to have a pipe where the idle control valve connects to. Its the black pipe that goes around the back of the engine. Anyone know what I should do with it?

Gearbox cross member didnt bolt up ideally, so will have a play tonight and see if I can get it secured better.

Made some changes to the JZX110 turbo intake to accept the JZX100 idle control valve pipe.

Since I'll be running an oil filter relocation kit along with a cooler, I decided to bypass the oem oil cooler since logic tells me that the oil will never get colder than the coolant temp. And if your coolant temps are high, that will in turn increase the temprerature of oil.... Undesired in my opinion.

The power steering pump is usually supported by the air con. Without it I have heard stories that the pas pump bracket snaps the fixing point on the block. So option one was to find an air con pump and remove the bracket, but cant find anything for a reasonable price, so went ahead and mocked up a template for a bracket.

A new water pump turned up. Which was a bit of a joke actually. Paid £80 for it, then parcelforce sent me an invoice for £35 'customs charges'.... Someone obviously cant do maths...

Not sure if anything else needs to be connected to the ECU to make it run. But that's all I'm aware of for the ECU. So if anyone has anything to add, they are more than welcome :)

All bolted up. Had to mark them up so that they are lined up ok, since they do not have locating dowels like the oem ones.

He did, It was like 1.5k or something I think. Worth every penny.. As soon as that sucker showed face, it was reenforced with carbon and kevlar to ensure it can take all the abuse thrown at it! :D No point in having BN, if the cars not slammed and sideways :D haha.

The Beams went to some race company in Peterborough to sit on a dyno. Nearly sent it to Finland though to go into an AE86 :D

There wont be any jet noises with this one. Just pure, raw, angry JZ madness!

It is kinda my goal to write this up in as much detail as possible, since a lot of people believe that these conversions are not possible without paying someone stupid money to do it. I will also write up the cost of everything I had to buy once the car is running. Will give people some financial idea.

Got an aux belt. Ordered 1880 but 1890mm arrived.

Blanked off some pipes on the manifold that aren't needed. From memory, they are used for various things on the jzx100 which I don't have, such as the charcoal canister, heater switch, power steering idle up etc.... fuck that shit!

The heater matrix hose on the jzx comes out on the different side to the Altezza. That means you have to route it back to the drivers side. Nothing exciting.

Got a fuel filter, but not sure if I will use it just yet, since I have one in the fuel tank, but I might need to remove it when I modify it. Will see. Better having one, than not!

Body plugs, all repinned and marked up ready to be wired to the engine. These are responsible for a few things. Power to sensors, injectors, coilpacks, starter signal, oil pressure, alternator signal wires, gearbox speed and reverse sensors etc... These will be wired into the JZ plugs that dont plug into the ECU on the engine loom.

So then it was time to remove the old fuel lines that will run on the exhaust side. Pain in the arse!

Main reason was because I couldn't drop the fuel tank down because all the bolts were grinded down from scraping them against the ground. Got them off in the end though

Decided, given the previous track record, that running them underneath the car could be risky. So ran them though the car using the opening for the altezza oxygen sensor.

Figured out a bit more wiring. Grey chassis plug (BA1) has two black wires. These will need to be connected together to allow the starter relay to be operated.

Will be responsible for sending 'STA' signal to the JZ ecu to let it know that its being cranked so that it can adjust the parameters accordingly to start the engine.

Sorted the fuel pump this weekend.

Tank is divided into two parts. There is a jet pump which draws fuel from one side to the other where the pump is. When the fuel return is fed back into the tank, it needs to feed the jet pump.

Im just gonna stick this stuff here. Pretty much all that I used to fire the engine up.

This diagram helps to understand the working principle of the ECU. Note however that the fuel pump relay is not in the diagram, but it still exists (Im on about the Circuit Opening Relay).

IGSW - Receives a signal once the key is turned in the barrel.

BATT - is constant power to the ECU

MREL - Once ECU gets the IGSW signal, it uses MREL to close the main relay. Which in turn provides +B to the ECU.

+B - Switched ECU power.

Igniter and Coils also need power. My car had a wire that supplied power specifically to coilpacks once the key is turned.

ECU Pinout. Specific to 1JZGTE VVTI from a JZX100. Dont use it for anything other than this engine. All JZ ECU's are slightly different.

To start the engine, you need only the following:

IGSW - Switched Ingition power
BATT - Constant Batt Power
+B - Power supply through the main relay after its been switched by MREL

Then these ones to drive
STP - Stop signal, not sure exactly what it does. Maybe deceleration map.
SPD - Speed signal from gearbox or speedo cluster. All depends on you car. But the ecu needs this signal for the engine to work properly.

MREL - Switches main relay after IGSW signal is obtained by the ECU.
FC - Used to switch the fuel pump relay. If i remember correctly, this pin is grounded through the ECU.

Once again, above to start, and these to drive.
W - Check Engine Light
FPU - Fuel Pressure up. Solenoid under the intake manifold
TE1 - Diagnostics terminal
These next two pins are incorrectly marked on the pinout. They should be shifted one space to the right.
ABV - Turbo blow off ( Re-circulation) Vacuum switch
PRG - Fuel vapour vacuum switch.

You dont need anything else other than mentioned above connected to the ECU.

Then you have your engine body plugs. In these you have:
Power to sensors
Power to coilpacks
Power to injectors
Starter signal

The bastard clutch finally turned up!

Pressed the old pilot bearing out using a slice of bread, and hammered the new one in. Began bolting on the pressure plate.

One of the bolts just wasnt threading in for some reason though. So I took it out, and tried a longer bolt. Threaded it in.... And just pulled it right out by hand again..... Fucking bollocks!!!

Just my luck, I got a used flywheel with a stripped thread!

Couldnt really check it properly before, since it only became apparent once i started tightening the pressure plate on. Spoke to Garage D, and they apologised and offered to fix it. So thats being sent off to them today.

That pissed me right off, and i felt like finishing up for the night. But regardless, decided to connect the boost controller solenoid while the engine is out from the car.

Pulled the pipe that goes from the compressor outlet to the wastegate actuator.

Used what I had lying around, and connected everything up. Mounted the solenoid at the back of the turbo intake.

Then separate the loom a bit and were left with something like this.

Lights and ECU separated. Then proceeded to sort the drivers side and continue removing unused wires in the process. Airbag, old Altezza ecu wiring (trc etc..) So ended up with something like this. Arrows where it will go through the bulkhead.

Next, unbolted the dash mount. Unbolted the heater stuff and pulled everything back. Removed the aircon condenser hoses. Lifted the center bit of the heater up and fed the loom through there.

Guided the loom in places where the pedals wont come into contact with it, and stuck it down so it wouldnt move. Drivers side plugged back in and all done.

Fed the ecu loom to the airbag location. And tucked everything up and away. Taped the relay/fuse box up as a temp measure.

And this is what we ended up with in the engine bay. Still untidy since the wires arent organised and are just all over the place just now. But they wont be visible at all once the engine is in. Mega clean imho. Some will need to be extended slightly to reach the lights. But not a big issue at all.

Been tidying up the wiring in the engine bay. Kinda hard in this cold weather, especially with a weak ass soldering iron. Finished extending the wiring on the pass side. Whole loom wrapped up is about 10mm in diameter. Will run along the chassis leg out of sight.

My heads melted just looking at the wiring diagrams but it's a great help as I'm currently planning a 1J or 2J conversion at the minute and this has given me a great confidence boost. Bolted the box up. Struggled a bit with the clutch release bearing. The ACT clutch came with a weird release bearing spring. Ended up using oem w58 spring.

Shifter location is spot on. But the angle of the mk3 supra shifter is shit. Got a gangster lean. Will be chopped and modified to be straight at some point.

Still a few minor issues with bleeding the coolant system. But I'll get there. The rad is lower that the hose, so a bit of an airlock present. But there is hot air coming from the heater.

Just a checklist for my benefit:

Buy/connect PAS lines
Make fan shroud, fans and coolant expansion bottle
Exhaust
Relocate battery into the boot
Run braided fuel lines with proper bulkhead fittings
Tidy up wiring & get tacho working properly
Crash bar and oil cooler mounting
Straighten out the gay bent mk3 supra shifter

Then she should be ready for a shakedown

My roof wing I made last year got blown off the car in a strong wind a few months ago and smashed on the floor. So that needed a rework. So I thought I'd go ahead and make a version 2 of the roof wing.

I didnt like how the old wing was pointing upwards too much, looked odd from some angles, so I decided to make the new one a bit flatter.

For some reason the supra ones have weird angles and the gear stick just ended up in shit places. So a few cuts and tacks later I had it positioned exactly where I wanted and welded up

Then everything started going bad, but I think the worst was when I took the car for a quick blast and found that I lost a sideskirt along the way. Went back to look for it, traced the route about 5-6 times, checked fields, ditches... Nowhere to be found. So some pikey now has a BN sideskirt lying somewhere that he cant use. Great!

But despite that shit experience, the car felt absolutely spot on! Think the boost was peaking at 1.1 bar with no sign of fuel cut.

After an absolutely shit day at work I got a text message that made everything better. Steve, the tyre guy came across my sideskirt in a field on the way over to my house!!

Need to do the same for the pas cooler when I eventually get one. The bar is right up against the bumper, so small nudges will no longer cause the bumper to explode. Also gives the front end a bit more rigidity.

Its nothing amazing, only running 0.9bar of boost. But its so much nicer to drive now than with the 3SGE engine. I never knew that turbo engines had so much low down torque ;) Spins the wheels up in a blink of an eye

A mate of mine did the exhaust. Hes a fabricator by trade, so has some welding experience, haha. I didnt want to mig the exhaust as the welds look untidy in my opinion....

The R-tech welder is pretty damn good! So nice to use, compared to some other mig welders I tried. Definitely worth the money! I would definitely recommend it ;)

Not connected the oil cooler yet because I got a wrong size oil filter, and also because I cant be bothered to rush this job as the drift day is this saturday.

Swapped the fancy teal wheel for my old trusty auction purchase from last year. Cant beat this wheel. The other one hardly has any dish and I always hit the wipers and indicators with my fingertips, also im too broke to get a spacer. Feels like home now.

Damn! Its been a while since Ive been on here. A bit busy with life, any spare time goes into the tezza.

Past two weekends we hit up the track for the first time since Finalboss. Mr D and Jites are having car issues, so it was just me and Mint. Gave us a good opportunity to have some practice driving with each other. Never quite had the opportunity to do that since there was always something going wrong at past drift events, which resulted one of us being in the pits fixing shit. But that changed.

We managed to make our way to Crail and then Driftland this Sunday. The weather was good, but it was a bit crowded. As a result we only got about 5 runs in, in total. But it was still an insane amount of fun. I dont think the driving was an issue, it was more of a case of gaining trust and confidence throwing the car in behind people...rightly so as it nearly ended badly a few times.
