Hello, finaly found a car suitable to have abit of practice in. Had money saved for a lexus is200, was all set on one untill a chap in work said he knew where there was a c250td forsale, went and looked at it yesturday and brought it home today, not many photo's, will get more when more work starts happening

its a merc c250td, completely standard, mot till may, no tax, and needs a rear subframe as its cracked, got it for £250 so cant complain
engine runs like new, and pulls right and well aswell, manual, full electrics, pity its green but lol

have tracked down a subframe just gotta go pick it up, so starting to take the old one out now
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/drift%20slut/20131227_140123_zps8fa3e515.jpg]

thats all for now, while the subframes out gonna weld the diff and see how well she goes

I'd imagine its absolutely dead no?! Or you planning big turbo etc?

WayneR33
30-12-13, 11:54
There actually not to bad like 150bhp and 200 torque, maybe its non turbo your thinking of?

Rickye
30-12-13, 17:20
yeh its about 150bhp, and 100kg heavier than a 325tds, so should go alright, it will be tunned at sometime, but gonna get abit of experience first, as this is my first rwd road car

picked up a subframe for it today, just waiting on new bushes getting here and i can start to build it all up again, didnt get any photo's but will get some up tomorrow

I have a sport c250 myself, i think they are a grand yoke.
Defiantly wouldn't call them slow.

Rickye
31-12-13, 12:50
Aye it should go alright
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20131231_104922_zpsmwopjxzq.jpg
Got the new subframe, should have the old one out shortly, just waiting on new bushes

finaly got the rear subframe out, didnt go easy

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140102_123240_zps54ae16bb.jpg

and the reason its getting a new subframe, its just a slight crack

jamesd
02-01-14, 16:10
Bit of glue Would sort that :-) will they slide easily?

Rickye
02-01-14, 20:42
ah i was thinking a couple of cable ties lol

it should do, pretty much the same as a 325 tds, only this has a manual inline pump, so easy to get more power out of

Rickye
12-01-14, 19:31
managed to get abit more done on this, never again do i want to do subframe bush's on these things, pain in the arse is an understatement. Have finaly got 4 new bushes into a badly painted subframe, and the diff is welded and ready to go back in, should all be bolted back on next weekend, after the arms and driveshafts see paint aswell, keep mot men happy later on in the year

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140111_143808_zpsdc897185.jpg
how the subframe sits compared to the old one

mantahead
12-01-14, 19:54
Nice one

I run one of them engines to 3.3bar of boost. They are some engine.

Rickye
12-01-14, 20:54
is that yours on youutbe with the deiselmekhin pump on it?

they are a real good engine, been playing about with bosch ve pumps, changing internals and govenors so figured it was time i started playing with an inline pump

mantahead
12-01-14, 22:47
yea, this one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GITi-n9ZTU

you will have the electronic inline pump, i managed 368bhp on it with my diy pump with 7.5mm plungers. rpm was a restriction at 5500rpm

you can add a potentiometer to pump wiring harness for more fuel on standard pump.

that yoke is fuken insane i love it ha ha

Rickye
12-01-14, 23:56
yeh that car is insane, i take it the pumps are semi ecu controlled, bit like a 406, still manual throttle etc, but advance and governors are ecu controlled, as there doesn't seem to be many wires near the pump itself, also doesn't appear to have a maf sensor, its usaly beside the airbox but mines just pipe

haven't looked to closely in below the bonnet but, will get a better look tomorrow after work

mantahead
13-01-14, 11:41
hi,

throttle and governor all controlled by ecu, the rack is pushed forward with a solenoid all controlled by pwm signals from ecu.

your pump will have 6mm elements but if you change to standard old skool mechanical pump it only has 5.5mm elements.

Rickye
13-01-14, 22:41
i see, will have to figure out where to put a potentiometer onto it

got the back axle striped, passenger side came apart no bother, drivers side has 2 bolts stuck in bushes, going to try get them out tomorrow night, and get two bushes replaced for the bottom arms as they are completely shot on both sides

and then she is ready for the road

Rickye
27-01-14, 22:12
well i have finaly got abit of decent work done to the car

rear subframe is finaly ready to be bolted back onto the car, couple new arms and bushes, 4 new main subframe bushes and the diff has been welded, some night this week when its dry gonna get it into her and see how she goes
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140127_201327_zps09d3809d.jpg

have also bought a hydraulic handbrake and a set of wheels from a mate, hoping to have it on the road this weekend

Rickye
03-02-14, 22:11
well im glad to say its all back together and running. Had bother with it not starting, wasnt picking diesel up from the tank, turn'd out to be a dodgy o-ring on the pre filter. New o-ring and its starting and running like a new car again.

had it out a test drive, driving 100%, few wee things need looked at, brakes after sitting for 6 months wudnt really stop you in a hurry, and need to connect up the handbrake, other than that she is going well

getting it took of temp insurance and swapping it with the toledo, cant afford to keep both

and lastly a photo of it beside the brothers b, project

have done abit more work but most of it is just fixing wee annoying bits and pieces, done away with the SLS system in it, as it was rock hard at the back, and when i went to lower it, it always raised itself back up again. Also have 5 new heater plugs coming as 2 of them have decided to pack up this week

on other news, got new wheels and lowered it, needs two rear droplinks then i can start on getting it ready for a drift day

since im still waiting for a few more bits to arrive, couple of us sprayed the merc this weekend
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/971951_10152309538874493_1560882317_n_zps337e241b. jpg
satin black and looks a hell of alot better imo

Rickye
22-03-14, 18:52
got all the wiring sorted out this weekend, first off sorted out the windows, was really pissing me off that only the rear two worked, and drivers only went down an inch

got the trim below the front lights sprayed black, rear spoiler is in primer and will be sprayed black shortly, and got the merc badge on the back of her again.

she was pron to heating abit when it was sideways, so the two front fans are now wired into 2 swtichs, also got a resistor and switch wired into the pump wiring, it now has a nice wee puff of black smoke, and is loving 3rd gear now, before it was just fit to mange 3rd
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140322_163817_zps540135aa.jpg
nothing exciting to photograph as its mostly wiring, but quiet pleased with the switch panel

Rickye
12-06-14, 21:47
so not much has happened with this really, drove it about, burst every weld on the old diff, all gears are ok and was still driving, just didnt feel right, only one i could get was a longer ratio one out of a c220cdi, didnt bother welding it, looking for either another 250td one or a petrol diff. not sure about chancing welding the old one again.

car has a fresh years mot on it, failed first time on a low headlight, easily sorted, came out of mot on a thursday, following monday i put coilovers into it
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/drift%20slut/20140520_180120_zps7mirquvd.jpg
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/drift%20slut/20140520_180109_zpswsj66for.jpg
was undriveable so put the adjusters into the front so i could turn again

only other thing ive done is straight pipe it, no photo's of it on the car but made this tail piece to replace the backbox
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/drift%20slut/1400788328300_zpso7jnvkei.jpg

currently working out how to map it, not paying 240 when the car cost me 250, its not as easy on these as the ecu chips are soldered onto the ecu, so will need to get holders and the right chips, solder the holders onto the ecu and i can remove the chips to map them. hopefully next couple of weeks will have it running a map

will be getting spacers made in work, custom ones to the size i want, 60mm at the rear and 20mm at the front, hub centeric and steel, have bad memory of aluminum ones, joys of working in a engineering shop with cnc machines

Rickye
27-06-14, 19:18
got abit of work done tonight still waiting on the lathe boys in work to turn my spacers, hopefully next week ill have them home

first got rid of the egr and cleaned the intakes
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140627_190303_zps2387c1ed.jpg

next was trying to cure my overheating issues, so aircon rad has been removed, was fucked anyway, pump is still in place but will sort that out another time, put the twin fans back in just incase it does start to heat, also blew out the rad, the about of shite that came out of it was unreal,
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140627_190245_zpsa42c0530.jpg
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140627_190254_zpsb7ee0b5e.jpg

and just to help the looks, all the purple is gone and the chrome is back, looks better imo, got bored of the purple very quickly
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140627_194721_zpsdef72daf.jpg

currently its running on about 4 1/2 cylinders, one of the pre chambers has come loose, should hopefully have the tools needed for that tomorrow, and get the diff welded tomorrow aswell

Rickye
28-06-14, 18:49
didn't manage to get the diff welded today, spent this morning putting my brother 323 back together, then got the merc running on all 5 cylinders again, took it a good run and its not lifting the temperature hand either, success

also got my hydro mounted, needs connected up but forgot to get t pieces on friday

finaly got my spacers made, big thanks to a work mate who started after work to finish turning the last one so i could machine it

started with these after they where turned
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140703_181637_zpseccbc02f.jpg

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140703_181642_zps4e651639.jpg

and ended up with these, 60mm for the rear and 20mm for the front

13-07-14, 15:28
got a spacer on one side today, safe to say its gonna be wide

arch has been pulled, its resting on its suspension and moving, clearing atm but needs abit more work before it goes on the road

also really need to get rid of the 55 profile tyres, and give the car a good wash

bit more work done past couple of days, new mintex disc's and pad's all round, fronts where warped and rears where done, also rebuilt my two rear calipers, with 2 new bleed nipples, got them bleed up right and the handbrake is alot firmer now, haven't tried it but it should lock now
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140715_123615_zps4b88910d.jpg

then set about fitting two more gauges, water temp and exhaust gas temp gauges
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140716_204251_zps7d192899.jpg
water temp sender

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140715_123604_zpsbf73f546.jpg
exhaust gas temp sender, excuse the dodgy welding, it wouldn't weld for me at all, but its sealing so all's good

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140716_204309_zps668d1f1a.jpg
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140716_204316_zps11e8a1d2.jpg
the three gauges, water temp, egt and boost, in 3 new pod's

diff is welded just not in the car yet, need to test drive it with the spacers on to make sure they are ok, so tomorrow ill get the spacers on, hopefully tyres and have it out of the shed for first time in a week

Rickye
17-07-14, 14:31
Front spacers didnt fit, the middle bit of the front hub sticks out about 30mm, 5mm or so is 66.6mm, then goes down to 63.2 for about 20mm, problem was i made the spacers 66.6mm for 14mm, then went down to 50mm. joys of having a lathe at home, threw them up to it, clocked them and now they fit
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140717_125855_zpsc193ec3c.jpg
spacer that fits vs the first attempt
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140717_125907_zps694e1759.jpg
and bang it fits perfectly

all spacers now bolted and torqued up, getting tyres tomorrow and this will be on the road again

Eoin k
17-07-14, 17:01
cool man. keep up the good work.

Rickye
18-07-14, 15:06
cheers eoin

finaly have it back on 4 wheels and moving again, took most of this moring to get it moving without tearing the rear tyres to bits, but as hard as i can drive it now it doesnt touch the tyres, few photos as it sits, still in need of a wash
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/20140718_152350_zps62ba70c8.jpg

have got abit more done to this recently, now have it fully striped inside, wiring and all is gone, going to wire in just what is needed, as its goin back to a manual pump it wont need alot, also got the turbo mounted today, its a tight squeeze in there

its about time i updated this

finaly got the car built, lot of boring stuff, wiring and all dont need photos of that, entered the ni drift ama last year, round 1 went better than expected with a slipping clutch and barely a handbrake managed to qualify, first ever battle and lost it, no surprise there though

so after the first round i managed to piece together bits of clutches from other cars, and got it to hold. Took it out for a test the weekend before round 2, came back home from it happy the clutch would hold and it did. Also in that week i sorted out abit of extra lock and camber, car handled alot better at the front. Also put a 6 speed box into it along with the clutch, massive improvement over the c250's standard box

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/Snapchat-7306345285459925614_zps2lnslrqp.jpg
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/20160502_185017_zpsfbp6bh1x.jpg

round 2 i managed to quaify 24th. Considering i missed the saturday practice day due to the car not being ready i was happy. didnt have to battle for the last 8 places in top 32. But on my lead run in top 32 i had a puncture, ran to wide and got knocked out.
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/FB_IMG_1462009609484_zpsypjeoxki.jpg
love that photo from round 2 but

So for round 3 i decided id go all out and sorted a very loose rear end, now consists of a fully rose jointed rear and grips really well, which did catch me out at round 3's practice day
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/20160422_163945_zpskuaxf3ii.jpg
sandblasted sub frame thanks to my sponser TJC powder coating

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/20160422_205838_zpsszy2ayos.jpg
all painted

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/20160424_181717_zpsdasky9ho.jpg
and all back into the car

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/Snapchat-2003504215504052917_zpsspdiddvj.jpg
i also had a slight problem with a rotten front spring mount, thats sorted and both sides are now strengthed

then onto the practice day for round 3. It didnt go to plan. On my third run out i clipped a wall with the back end, smashed a tail light and abit of a dent, nothing to major, the last run i got was the last for a good reason. When chasing i was to close at the wrong time, when he transision'd he cliped my front wing and i met the wall again, head on in 3rd gear this time, my fault though.

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG-20160611-WA0003_zpsjwc6gnor.jpeg
Damage looked worse than it was, Burst oil cooler, broke a bottom arm and bent a wing badly, few mates, the ole boy and me worked to 11 that night and went back out on sunday. It pissed down with rain in qualifying, big turbo(and a big lack of skill) meant i didnt qualify, but was still good fun.
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/FB_IMG_1465836068258_zpspdxc0hv2.jpg

Then with round 4 coming up at the end of the month and a bent front end, nothing else for it but cut it all off and start again
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/Snapchat-7358383273686542922_zpsbbwqbalh.jpg
yeh so its abit shorter and getting a bash bar
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/Mobile%20Uploads/Snapchat-6413469357915389889_zpsnzhxfgnu.jpg
and how it sits now just waiting to be welded back together

got it all back together, clutch is now holding in 4th, with a 3.1:1 diff and rose jointed rear i think it will do, and front end looks alot tidier than before
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t55/lilricky64/FB_IMG_1470067815267_zpszcco05sv.jpg (http://s157.photobucket.com/user/lilricky64/media/FB_IMG_1470067815267_zpszcco05sv.jpg.html)

have done other bits and pieces but no photos.

After round 4 took the car to a local track the follow week, no oil cooler and didnt change oil, it run the bottom end, the old engine done well for 220k miles, so the car is now stripped completely and on a spit, alot of changes to be made and probaly miss most of this year, including a fully rebuilt engine, proper manifold and hopefully a good bit less lag

because lag is killer
