so i bought a kouki 180 as a bit of an impulse buy, i had been imported into ireland about 6 years ago by an old man living down the road from me who made his money in the boom as a block layer, he imported afew jap yokes at once like a supra rx7 s14 i have no idea why he imported them but im not complaining because i picked it up for half nothing, he never drove them he just had them gathering dust in a shed. no1 realy knew the cars were there but when i found out i chanced my arm and made him an offer for the unregistered untouched mint s13.

im changing my mind every second day on what i will do with it, some people are saying vrt and keep the kouki kit but i have no interest, iv had it now afew month but iv only decided to start a build thread now, since iv gotten it i put in a 2 way cusco diff and zeal function coilovers and i have an origin kit and a set of viennas, im kinda trying to sell the viennas because i want something abit crazyier but then again they owe me alot of money so im not too sure would it be worth my while shifting them on

seanie R.33
04-11-13, 10:46
Leave the kouki kit,id imagine you'd have the value of the car with a uras kit!sell the viennas and put on set te37's or blitz 03's,thats what i'd do anyway

04-11-13, 11:40

the unfortunit thing lads is that i cant realy afford the insurance, (at the moment" im only 19 and i only found one company to insure me and they want €3500, i expected insurance to be expensive but not to that extent, i know the kouki kit is sweet and all but my heart was set on a BN kit, the origin kit will more than likely never be the final kit i settle with but i suppose it is handy to have a spare kit. i also didnt just buy the car to drive it, i also bought it as a project and wanted to go balls deep into the project, i like to do things on a big scale, go big or go home is a big moto of mine, probly should have named the thread "go big or go home"

So i rang Liberty insurance getting a quote on a 1.4 polo as was suggested, i was slightyly skeptical on the phone but i was quoted €1600 quid under my own name with no no claims bonus and i only have my full liceance 3 weeks and there was no issue with the third party extension. its the biggest loop hole in the system ever, heres a little sneaky pic of the car in her place of rest looking very NAKED!!!

04-12-13, 13:06
haha i havnt even bolted the wheels on the back of the car yet so i realy dont know what im going to do yet, the biggest archs that i know of are 70mm KOGUCHI archs and tbh i think they look stink, if only origin did 100mm archs. im getting tyres fitted tonight so ill test fit the wheels on the car for the laugh to see what kind of poke we are looking at, i know everyone wants to see the outcome

your probably gonna need a bn blister kit to make them fit dude, or jun arches on top of 50mm overs!

as for the front, your still going to have rubbing issues, ivee 11.5js up the front of my car and the rubbing issues are not up the front were the tubing is done, but actually at the back of the arch!

you really are going all out on this! best of luck!

benkouki
07-12-13, 02:08
i think i have a rough idea where your talking about, is it next to where the loom comes out from the firewall, im hoping if i run a small tyre i will somehow avoid it rubbing, a blister kit is something that never once entered my head and its could be the way forward, its not a bad idea at all, i think i might look into that, thanks for the words of advice man

Baz_180
07-12-13, 11:09
Have you considered removing the whole quarters panel, pulling it out and plating up the gap. That's the way my S15 was done although not as extreme as you'll require I'd say. I've 18"x 12.5jj -5 on the back. It might work out easier than fibreglass and you would have more choice in the shape of you finished quarter panel.

fcon
07-12-13, 14:22
Monster wheels man! I'd say if you got 50mm overs and ran some pretty aggressive camber you'd nearly get away with it, if not I remember seeing a lad on one of the forums taking a heat gun to the fibreglass and pulling the arch out. not easy but doable.

any more info on it man, the yoke has more random switchs and buttons than a aircraft, we dont know anything about the car at all, all i can safely say is that it has one hell of a neon/strobe kit underneath its hillarious haha its like it came straight from the set of tokyo drift

12-12-13, 14:37
i remember that s14 from years ago i thought it got scraped.if its the same one im thinking off it used to be metallic red/wine with chrome decals on the skirts. i thought it was meant to have a sr22 in it but then it got into some young heros hands and he wrecked it ill try dig out a few photos i have as i used to be in love with the look of the car .But then again i could be thinking of a completly different yoke or mixing its history with another one cause i never saw the car up close just in photos and on the road a few times

benkouki
12-12-13, 15:13
yeh i think you could be right about it being a redish colour before, because you can see abit of red in the boot behind the lights and in afew parts on the loom, as far as i know the car was in thurles before it went to waterford, but the lad that sold it genuinly hadnt a fucking clue about the car so i could be wrong, he said he drove it 6 times and then just left it sitting up, he couldnt tell us was it an open diff or a 2 way he hadnt a clue what coilovers were, the whole deal was done through his sitting room window, he wouldnt come outside his house it was all abit odd, he threw in a bud of his own home grown weed with the deal aswell, like this story all sounds abit far fetched and made up but its word for word haha we never test drove the car cas we didnt know when the last time it was started and it had spent its life in waterford in a driveway at nearly 45 degrees

seanyboy s14
12-12-13, 15:24

test fitted a tyre on one of the front wheels to see how i was for arch clearance on full lock, i can safely say i have no room to play on the firewall side of the arch and miles of clearance up front in the arch. im running a 225/40/18 on the 11j, there is a 40mm spacers on the car atm but i cant take it off till i re-fit my brakes.

Build has being going slow enough with the time of year and all but I treated myself since it's Christmas and got myself an oil cooler and relocater and also got myself 5M of venhill -3AN braided brake hose, they sent me the wrong colour but I'm not going to be a fussy prick, I'm just waiting on the fittings to arrive, I only have 1 sample fitting.

think you would need a thermostat fitting type. I used that type you have before and oil never got up to temperatue. this is a link to what im talking about

So how exactly does that thermostat yoke work, does it just bolt on between the relocator plate?? The info on it is much up in the air

It's a temperature controlled gate, that only lets the oil into the cooler core when the oil tempt gets up to 90degrees, and than when the tempt get down to 70degrees , closes. I had it the way your going doing there. Fitted my defi oil tempt later, and noticed my oil never moved above 10 degrees. Them oil coolers do there job well. Driftworks sell a thermostat type too.
