View Full Version : rough idle when warm
weird one car starts up is grand after 10minuites when its warmed up it starts to idle rough sounds like a boxter engine lol. its not a full misfire. i unpluged the coilpacks one by one cant say one cylinder changed majorly compared to the rest. i cleaned the earths, checked all the boost piping and everything secure... im stumped...
Did you unplug air flow meter
When its warm try disconnecting lambda sensor, could be wanked
well unpluged the afm and the car bearly stayed running so id say thats sound unplugged the lambada and it runs a bit better alright. shoukd the car not get worse? so im guessing thats wanked. where can i get a neqw one?
also my boost gague... i only noticed it used to be around 0 on idle now its reading -6 on idle and uner accelerating it struggles to reach 0 on the gague... boost/vaccum leak ?

Boost gauge should read in the (-) when idle then climb up to watever boost you have turbo set for when drivin, check for boost leaks, stick a thread up for a lambda sensor there im sure someone has one.
Also pull your spark plugs for a look and see what there like, and if know anyone that has an s15 swap the ignitor chips and see if it helps.
Id suggest it could be fuel pump too so itd be an excuse to get a walbro anyway if ya dont have one.
cherrs man got new plugs 3 months ago got a quote for a lambada sensor off nissan i nearly fell over with the price lol gonna look elswhere or get one second hand lol

is your car mapped man?? if it is most tuners run the lambda sensor in closed loop for better mpg for some reason i dont know so if its mapped plugging it out shouldnt make a differance

I got a universal 3 wire sensor out of the motor factors for my 15...
Worked fine, sumthin like €60 or €70
ya one of the lads mentioned that about the universal one. i rang the auto factors and they recommended not getting the universal one for a japanase car as they work on small tolerances and it can reault in over fueling and ruining the cat ect... are they over exaggerating or i really cant see me spending 300 for a new one...
or is there a way to clean the current lambda?
well bought a genuine 2nd hand lambda and fitted it yesterday but makes no diffrence but i did notice when I shake the one I put in there was a metallic rattle commimg from inside it??? might the one I just got be wanked too?
