Alight lads and ladies.
So I picked myself up a 180sx a few months back, Didn't put up a thread
until I had a few jobs done to it.
I picked it up for very little spuds, just 500 more than what I sold
the civic for.
It was in storage for the last 4 years in a shed, Still drives nicely
with 0 rattles.
I been driving around the last 3 months with nct up
1/12/09 and Tax was up before that.
Still drives without.
It would have had NCT only for a cock up with the nct woman on the phone
booking my retest in a different centre.
Anyways,
I always wanted to buy a bog standard car with no mods and do it my
own swing, Then when I had the money and was able to do it along
came this.
Its currently a sr20de,
WhenI bought it had 3 after market items,
Nismo springs,
A alarm system with remote start.
16" Advan AVS MODEL 6 Alloys
So Basically just what I wanted Not even a aftermarket air filter or even
a after market exhaust, Everything is standard. The body is very very
straight, Some small bits of rust on panels but they will be sorted
sometime in the summer.

First things first there was some surface rust in the boot, so that got a
seeing to straight away Nothing a wire brush and drill couldn fix.

It needed a bit of a sand down and respray black here and there. Just to freshen up the whole car.

While I had the black paint I toke the interior out and replayed the roof black along with the visors and the light surrounds, It done a nice change that it rare to see.

The standard exhaust s/s was wrecking my head so I got a skunk2 exhaust cat back, Really nice sound off it even for a N/A.

Also a set of cusco coilovers have been put on the front.
While I was there Pepsterx was trying to tempt me into buying a set of works,
I'm really sickened I dont have the money for them but all in good time!!

I had CMD tints down the last day and got the back half tinted.

Obviously there is no way its staying N/A.
So this dirty looking N/A engine will be whipped out hopefully this time next month,

I have an engine with all the necessary goods needed to turbo it sourced already thanks to pepterex, Its sitting in his garage waiting to go in along with the whole set up. I hadnt planned on putting this thread up until it was turbo'd but boredom toke over.
I have my last exam 16 may so will dig into it after that! All work will be carried out by pepterex himself. Absolute genius with cars.
Until then I'll be tipping away at it doing small stuff keeping me happy. All comments welcome
That was a cheap car, remember it when It was for sale, should be real cool wit the det, but if your doing an engine swap would you not go rb or something mad seeing as you've to do work anyway?
good start! id cover the 6x9s over though in some light material, very in your face stuff! ha
Ahh the tints fairy hide em, Plus when your in the car ya don't see them so they don't bother me much

Yea plans to deck it very soon, Just have to run it through nct first.
I wasnt gone on the front bumper when I forst got it but its growing on me now..

savage clean base, nice set of wheels, kouki front bumper and sit it on its hole! Be perfect. what sizes are the works?
works were 16".. They are well gone lads.. Some time in the coming weeks there will be progress on it.. Wont be putting n a kouki bumper, it seems every 180 has it these days!!
Picked up a set of rotas the last day, Delighted at how they sit, Fill the arches nicely. The car itself is a tad high to understate it, but just had nct.
Next in line is the conversion.

A nice bit of work done the last two weeks,
Last monday went into pepterex's garage and within 2 hours we had the whole lot apart, had no problems so delighted with that we called it a night.

Came back 2 days later to see pepterex had the DET engine prepped and ready with the turbo, elbow, clutch all put on along with some loom wired up.

Got a set of skirts for fuck all, Was hoping they'd go straight on but of course when I got home and washed the bird shit and muck off them I seen they were in rough enough condition, I probably ould have gotten away with putting them on as they were seeing as it was sideskirts but sure no point skipping corrners. So off to motor factors i went for sand paper filler and primer.. Few pictures...

The intercooler already got its marks from past owner but I'd say I'll have it sprayed silver again by the end of the week.

Ran into no problems and car started fairly handy!! Out for a test spin and the car ran like new.

Must give some credit to pepterex, He always treated the car as he was building his own car, and was always thinkin two steps ahead. There was actually no problems from start to finish, Delighted with the finished result!!
Great to see the det in this was crying out for one slightly ragin I didn't do it myself but too many projects so little time and space besta luck with it billy

Cheers lads,, that's an apexi pen turbo timer,, i extended all the lines and cut out a gap up there for it. Saves it cluttering up the dials.
Finially Got man size wheels fitted. Yes I have spacers to be fitted, and it will be lowered more..

Naa, the other wheels wer way too small for the car,, too much wheel gap all over the shop.. But as they say, different strikes for different folks.
They're an improvement but far from man sized wheels! :p

Going ta stretch a set of tyres on, camber it and flare the arches..
Still not happy with the wheels, I decided to redo the lip..
I figured the I'd never be fully happy with it until I done this, and once they were put on the car they'd never be done
So heres a before,, All 4 alloys had kerbing all around from bad driving and being thrown around face down.

So up on a set of jacks, On with the wheels and started sanding, sanding and more sanding, then polish polish and more polish.
(Wouldnt be mad quick to suggest the inexperienced do this)

Dont I know, I've still to chop the normal arches, ive only left the overfendors bolted on as I've nowhere to store them.
But no point doing something if your only half arsed doing it, I've nothing but time and patience to flush them.

it will look well!..i think your daft cutting perfect archs to put on fiberglass ones, i think you should flare the original archs to suit your wheels, it will look class!..i wish i didnt put on fiberglass ones but once the original archs are cut ders no turning back!

100% agree no need for overfenders unless u have stupidly wide wheels, flared look far better Kruizer on heere would be the man for the job
Sure why would ya do a Bn sports kit and not get overfendors, Would look silly with a wide kit like that.
And yes, I have a decent size wheel going on alright, Will easily fill them arches.
Im not being smart but them rear archs look spotless.i just think itd be a shame to cut them.theres not enuf 180s around anymore with the original qtr panels
There's about to b 1 less.. Just because its in good condition doesnt mean that I dont want overfendors.
But thats the point of doin your own car, I do stuff that I like not that others like,
People will always find stuff they dont like on your car.
