View Full Version : What oil for my Silvia?
Well I'm putting my s14a back on the road, it's been garaged with very little use since November 2011. Only started Etc few times since and driven once or twice
It's gonna be resprayed in 2 weeks so I want it mechanically 100% for when its going of
So I want to service it
It's running high enough power at 418bhp
So it prob will need a different oil then standard I presume?
What's the best oil I should go for?
Best oil filter I should go for too?
Any other tips that people should think I should do before putting her back on the road too fire them at me.
Cheers in advance.
mobil 1 15/50 if you can get it, gone hard to get so im switching to millers oil

Il look into seeing the availability of that see can I get any
Didn't 10w60 pretty much become the replacement for 15w50 or am I mistaken?!
Sorry for the thread hijack, but what oil would lads recommend for a car running say ~300bhp, heard so many different things. Any brand in particular too or is it all personal preference.
Thanks.
Cheers for the info lads
Any preference on oil filters?
@damien no problem man, I don't mind at all.

OEM fella, fuchs, mobil1, millers. any of them are good oils
crisp n dry should do the job...
But in all seriousness silkolene/fuchs are the job,
They do a full range of synthetic oils with a good choice of viscosity.
I think lorcan on here does them all next day delivery...
I'd go 15w50 especially for the warmer months

Yeah PR Reilly behind Maxol sorted me out 2 weeks ago with Mobil 1 15W50.. Cheap enough to at €40! If you can't get the 15W50 though just use the Mobil 1 10W60.. Both highly synthetic!
