View Full Version : Lsd for e36 318is
Question lads , Picked up this e36 last night , welded diff in car but it broke last night on way home just driving in a straight line , didnt even get to try it out!! Anyways , when i have it ripped , will an m3 diff fit the car without having to swap out the hole rear ends? Car is being used as a daily , nct 1/14 and all  , So pref would like a lsd diff instead of welding one! , If i cnt get one ill just use a normal open diff as i dnt fancy welded ones for every day! Help would be appriciated :)

Cool looking E36! Don't see Style 19s on E36s that often!
M3 diff will fit if you change the subframe and shafts and things. Don't necessarily have to change the rear arms and brakes but with the bits you need to fit it, its as easy to just get a complete axle and then fit some M3 front hubs and brakes too :)
3L M3 diff will work fine but ratio will be a good bit longer which will kill your accleration abit although, motorway driving will be nicer with lower rpm at cruising speeds.
3.2 Evo diff is a 3.23 ratio so closer to your own being a 3.38 but you need to change more stuff with fitting one of those and need a prop modified to match up.
Alternatively, you could just buy a 318iS LSD that will bolt straight in and be the same ratio as what you have.... and I have one for sale too :p

small world...........
buy the 318is diff off Dave (they are rare as foook so get it while you can)
or get another open one welded
no point goin to a longer ratio with the power the car has...
good luck with the car btw it does look nice...
p.s. those wheels refurbed right are worth good money so take care of em...
