Hey guys,

Put this cage in myself and I am worried will it be good enough for the drift season in Ireland. The cage has no kinks but but i just think the welding could be tidier or something.

What you guys think?

Cheers

Where did you buy your tubing? What kind of tubing is it?

Just got the Tubing out of my fathers engineering company. Its 43mm tubing. Has to be 45mm does it?

not really, i have it in mine, got it done before xmas not that noticeable,
but yea has be 45mm mate, also that loop and pillers on the front look
fairly far from the piller, best ting todo is stick it up in the regs and rules in the IDC thread there,

Any cages done with proper tubing are 45mm not 43mm, reason being 43mm is standard gun barrel size and won't pass regs anyway, main hoop has to be 45mm x 2.5mm CDS tubing. Also your main hoop has started to kink at the roof bend because it is the wrong tubing. My brother is the scruitneer and it won't pass, the rules are in since last year and are going to be inforced this season.

if the cage in your car was smaller than 45mm passed pd regs in previous years, but is not 45mm for this year, then does it fail?

Mine is 43mm CDS I have 45mm too but i just used 43mm cause it was handier

My cage is also 43mm 3mm that is surely as strong as 45mm 2mm wall

Type of tube has very little to do with it kinking or not kinking. Main reason for tube to kink is using a poor bender or using wrong sized dies.
You can kink CDS tubing just as easily.

Even if the tubing was right, Cage could be alot tighter to the front pillars anyway so I'm sure seeing big gaps around the cage to the shell won't be a good start with scrutiny regardless of type of tube or weld quality

Ah the Father owns an engineering company so I will get one of the welders to weld it off for me this time. I just need to find someone with a pipe benders that can bend me the main hoop.

It should turn out ok :)

As far as I'm aware if the car has been logged previously it will be fine, it is for newly built cars or cars that have not been logged before.

Wats the difference between a car perf loged using non cds tube and a car been loged this yr using non cds tube. How is it that a car already loged is ok and new cars aint? Wount they both be driving the same tracks at the similar speeds etc. ?

Yeah that's what i dont get too. Its gonna cause problems for idc and people will kick up. I made my car like other cars are but they are ok now and because mine is new its not ok. Doesn't make one little bit of sense.
