View Full Version : Head gasket oil leak...
Well lads,
ive an oil leak in my 500e carina.... I need to sort it but cant justify the cost on her as i was quoted anywhere between 400 and 500e. Is it possible to weld the head to the block? or plug some weld in? Ill not be selling the car so dont mind if its a rough way of doing it, just want to keep the girl going!
Cheers,
Steve

Weldin it wouldn't work, it'd just melt the gasket, there's oil leak stop in motor factors, they might be able to help, last option is to just torque the bOllox outta the head bolts. Maybe it might pull the head down a tiny bit, worth a try, try liquid steel, but the oil might find its way into a water jacked and them your fecked.
If its not bad ie you arent losing much oil, or there isn't any effect n the cooling system then just ignore it.
Just keep an eye on the oil level and the colour of the coolant.
well its used about a 4l bottle in the last 4000miles john...just annoying me really haha
Oh
That's quite a bit haha
Them engines are probably a piece of piss to work on so anyone looking to do a nixer should hop on it

Just live with it would be my advice, 1 ltr per 1000miles , you'll buy a 20 litre barrel of shite oil for 50 - 60 e
Thats 3e per 1000miles, hardly worth fixing .
