View Full Version : S13 wont rev over 5000rpm
Have a 180sx, has fmic and basic other mods but standardish. Brought it out on track recently for first time and this happened. it can go past 5000rpm but it extremly slow to do so. Any1 have any ideas where to look or trial and error. Thanks before hand

try afm first then fuel pump/pressure, is any leaks after afm to turbo
our pathfinder was the same last week it would only rev up to 2k rpm and start splutterin like it had a BEE R fitted ha but changed out the fuel pump and filter and it ran perfect again. could be the same with yours?
Thanks for all the replies lads. We changed d fuel pump to walbro 255 and it got worst, felt like it was going to stall so changed back to d standard. But it was on d standard fuel regulator. Would that matter. Ya ill try changing the air flow meter. Can i change that to a z32 maf without modifing the ecu. And it could d filter as it looks like it has never been changed so ill try that aswel.
Sorry i had the boost at .85 bar using a boost controller but i thought that was the problem so i bypassed the electronic valve so its back to 0.7 bar with a s14 bb turbo
habe you got anyone you could swap coilpacks over with to see if they are ok. What are the plugs like in it and are they decent? Recommend getting a set of Bkr8eix plugs and check all intercooler piping joiners. Id try a different afm first though.
Cheers. No not for a 180sx. But new plugs in it, their the ngk iridum plugs. Do u know if i can use a z 32 air flow meter as a direct swop from d standard without modifying the ecu. Checked piping & changed all d vacuum hoses.

It will a new map with a Z32 airflow meter

no it will run but wouldnt be a gud idea to run on standard ecu??
Best of using the standard AFM that's in it or the lend of a spare one to fault find the problem that's in it frist. Should only think of z32 as an upgrade, it wont solve the issue, unless you know for sure it the AFM that's the cause.
I'm only going by my own experance with AFM , and advice I got myself.

Not in a million years will a standard SR ECU run the engine on a Z32 MAF !!!
Get someone who knows what they are looking at, you could change half the car and still have the same issue, just my 2 cents
oh and one of the injectors was stuffed fulla shite on our pathfinder... could be that either?
Ya i bought 550 injectors a while back so ill be changing them. I plan to buy a z32 maf anyway and plan to map the car. Thats y i asked could i throw it in for the time being. So got my answer thanks every1. Ill try getting a standard maf to try that and ill change the fuel filter. Take it from der again.while im asking wats the best way to map a 180sx. I know nothing about it.

Do they just plug into the standard ecu .Do you know any1 selling them. Do you buy them tuned or do u need to get them tuned especially for your own car. Do they have a hand controllers
