Ok... so i bought this black s14a back in 0ct 08, disaster struck a couple of months later with the big ends destroying themselves! So, this is its story. All work carried out by myself.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00786-1.jpg

And when i cracked open the sump..... look what i found!!!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00794-1.jpg
The remains of a bearing!!

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00795-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00799-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00830.jpg

This is the wear on yhe crank, brought it to engine-re to get it checked ot. Too much gone of the bearing journal so i had to get a new crank......oh the joys of i!!

I got a cased Cusco 2-way also... so put that in next!!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00815.jpg

I decided to make some changes to the dash as regards to the gauges.... i wanted them to blend in to the dash as much as possible....

So i took out the centre vent surround and took out the two middle vents.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00769.jpg

Then got some gauge hoods things and glued them in where i wanted the gauges to go.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00768.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00771.jpg

Then i fiberglassed the back of the vent surround to hold everything in place and make it stronger...* its a bit of a mess here in this picture but you get the idea*
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00773.jpg

Sideways Simon....

Then sanded off all of the excess to clean it up ...
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00779.jpg

Put in a load of filler then.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00780.jpg

A couple of hours sanding and re-filling parts later.....
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00788.jpg

You can see here i have them angled a bit more to face the driver
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00802.jpg

Then sanded it all up as far as 1200 paper to get the finish good, sprayed on a couple of coats of plastic primer, then normal primer
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00835.jpg

Next i bought some black wrinkle paint, sprayed on 2 layers of this. I wasnt completly happy with the finish as it looked more shiny than the dash of the car so wet sanded it with 1200 paper and gave it a light coat of satin black. This worked a treat as you could still see the crackle of the wrinkle paint but it now was a better colour match to the dash.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00835.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00836.jpg

And here is the before & after
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00837.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/DSC00881-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/DSC00882-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/DSC00883-1.jpg

Did a job on the lower radio surround next... got a Gizzmo MS-IBC Electronic Boost controller from HM-Developments so needed to put that somewhere

Gizzmo...
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00895.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00896.jpg

So took out the radio surround, removed the ash tray, i dont smoke so i wont be needing it anyhow!
Put a piece of hard board in at the back to cover the hole and then put fiberglass on top of that.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00833.jpg

Next filled it all and marked out where the boost controller would go. Also at this point decided to put in two switches as there always handy to have
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/DSC00873.jpg

Sideways Simon....
15-12-09, 19:39
Cut out them holes next and sanded everything
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/DSC00884.jpg

Then i sprayed it all, same as before.... a few coats of plastic primer, then some normal primer, black wrinkle paint, wet sand and finish with satin black.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00893.jpg

Put in the switchs and the boost controller
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00897.jpg

The top and bottom all finished.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/DSC00898.jpg

Sprayed the rocker cover too...

Stripped with nitro-mors,
Primed with heat resistant primer
Sprayed blue
And the sprayed with heat resistant lacquer

Ok so i put this OMP steering wheel in a few weeks ago, got a nismo centre button for it. Its synthetic leather , i dont like the suede wheels as after a while whwn thwy start to get worn they look shit.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/pic1a.jpg

Have some lower tie bars from Apex Performance
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/pic2a.jpg

Put in the front bar but didnt fit the rear as the bolts that hold it in allign the back wheels so if i put in the new tie bar the allignment would be all over the shop until i get all the wheels digitally alligned and i wont be doing that till i get the rest of my adjustable arms for the suspension.

Sorry for the bad quality pics but had fec all room, this is from underneath

This is it off, as you can see its seen better days!!!

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/newphonepics012.jpg

Next i got the grinder out and took off the nissan bit and other bit of writing, smoothed it all down, gave it a good clean and sanding to smooth it all out ready for paint

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/newphonepics013.jpg

so next up was 3-4 coats of high temperature primer, and then a few coats of blue

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/newphonepics014.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/newphonepics015.jpg

i masked it all up then , and covered the bigger bits with newspaper

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/newphonepics016.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll198/trdglanza/s14%20rebuild/newphonepics017.jpg

next sprayed these areas with white paint and then removed all the masking tape/paper and gave it 3 caots of petrol & oil resistant lacquer

And the un fitted finished rocker cover...

Okay, finally after a year of looking at it i got my bumper fixed:wack:, and also slightly customised, before the front of the bumper used to come to a point, i wanted this rounded and also got the hole for the i/c made bigger.......

have loads of pics here of it, oh ya also got the bonnet debadged and sprayed as it had a lot of stone chips and the previous owner had stuck down the nissan badge with what looked like super glue. and finally got the holes in the bootlid welded and sprayed also

This was it before any work was done....
