I just want to post up what progress we have done to date and give you's an idea of what time and dedication is going into this build. As all people know due to the economic climate its hard to build a competitive drift car without major backing ( Sponsors ) so we have had to sacrifice a lot of other things in our lives to make 2013 our year to drive how we want, with what we want!
Thanks to our sponsors to date.
-Fergal Brady Car Sales, Monaghan
-Rallyshop.ie
Also we have had our new fabrication/welder working on the car from the summer. Bilko Cages has put a lot of effort and time into this car as we want to make it our best ever build to date and a highly competitive car.
The idea of this car came to us because the JZ engine is renowned for its power output and reliability. The S-body Chassis is the ideal frame to power that engine and there are many top quality suspension parts available for this particular chassis.
The Build is on our new website and i would like to see/hear your feedback on our progress, feel free to have a look :)
here is the link below to the new build.

2013 car: Nissan S14 with Toyota 1JZ engine.
The idea of this car came to us because the JZ engine is renowned for its power output and reliability. The S-body Chassis is the ideal frame to power that engine and there are many top quality suspension parts available for this particular chassis.
July-Sep 2013.
We started our new car build. After purchasing a Nissan S14, we fully stripped it down to bare steel inside and underneath.
We began our fabrication work. Lightening the car in particular areas and strengthening it in areas we thought necessary due to the high torque output which this new car will have. The fabrication and F.I.A roll cage was designed by Chris Brady and made by Bilko Cages (any queries on cages email us)

Here is a pic of the front box we made for the the cage to mount onto also you will see the roof main support bar welded to a L- Shape bracket in order to give more support.
http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/1378/pic2ee.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/842/pic2ee.jpg/)
And the rear box for the main hoop of the cage these are a 3 inch box made from 3mm steel and wont be easy moved!
http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/2885/pic3ig.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/20/pic3ig.jpg/)
The Tunnel which was widened and extended for our bigger gearbox. Also note the exhaust tunnel to the right which is for an rb/sr setup so you have no problems with the exhaust hitting the ground.
http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/1198/pic4hl.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/854/pic4hl.jpg/)
The front arches are tubed in a way to make the car look more original, most lads space frame the front or put in their own complete new panel, we wanted to keep the original arch so we cut it out, moved it towards the headlight panel and shaped and welded in a new sheet of 1mm steel to allow us for max wheel clearance.
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/1275/pic5sp.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/268/pic5sp.jpg/)
The rear arches being tubed with 1mm sheet to allow max clearance for the rear wheels.

This rear view pic of the cage will give you an idea of the design and how the rear strut towers are braced the complete cage is triangulated for maximum strength.
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/6793/pic7vt.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/109/pic7vt.jpg/)
We also put a rear 3mm floor plate in under where the back seat usually is and triangulated it
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5751/pic8wa.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/6/pic8wa.jpg/)
Here is a pic of the gussets we made up, again we had them folded and measured up to fit exactly in place rather than doing a quick homemade job.

The boot floor was removed and a new flat floor put in place, this is where our new fuel cell and swirl pot will be placed. Also you will see the firewall sheet which was folded and welded in place for safety regulations.
http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/8837/pic11li.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/849/pic11li.jpg/)
Underneath the rear floor we welded in an frame box style frame around the rear chassis legs, then x’d it to strengthen it and this would also allow us to brace our new jacking point.

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/988/pic13cm.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/138/pic13cm.jpg/)
Every bit of seam weld underneath and and new tubing areas had to be sealed up as we didn’t want any leaks or fumes inside the car, some 8 tubs of seam sealer later and Emma had the job completed.
http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/7923/pic14b.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/46/pic14b.jpg/)
With the body sanded down underneath, Emma gave it 3 coats of Gravi tex to protect it from rust and then this will be under coated, painted and wax oiled to give it further protection.
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/6387/pic15mu.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/pic15mu.jpg/)

Over the past few months we have been gathering up parts for the car, with it being the second week in Jan 2013 and dates released for round 1 Irish Drift Championship we now have our deadline to meet, So a lot of updates will be coming in over the next 2 months.
At this point we would like to welcome on board our newest Sponsors, who will all be involved with how the final product will be styled and how it preforms,
DriftKits.EU will be supplying us with all our body panels, we are really looking forward to seeing the mix match kit we have chosen.
Bradley Motorworks will be our main mechanic along with his mapping capabilities this car will be Interesting!
Japspeed.ie have supplied us with the adjustable arms, and cooling products, along with Manifold and various other parts.
BUILD UPDATE PART 3:
The Fuel Cell has a shallow dip in it where the exit fuel lines are, so we had to make a drop in the boot floor, the cell must be sitting level, this was the tidier way to do things.
http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/4344/pic11zr.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/202/pic11zr.jpg/)
Removing the original seat mounting brackets to allow us to get as close to the floor as possible, we also need the seat on a sliding rail, this also had to be custom made.
http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/7270/pic21u.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/593/pic21u.jpg/)
Seat in fixed position.
http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/2332/pic31f.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/801/pic31f.jpg/)
After the seats were mounted into place, we needed to get the handbrake into the position that suited both Emma and myself. In order to do that, we made an extra box onto the tunnel adjacent to the neutral gear stick position.
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/1130/pic41.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/441/pic41.jpg/)
We decided to make our own dash from .9mm material, still to be made up is the dash clock area. Its being fabricated at the moment, this will all be carbon fiber wrapped for the final product. Also the rear 1/4 panel interior was made and folded to suit.
http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/4784/pic51s.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/687/pic51s.jpg/)
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/3647/pic61.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/441/pic61.jpg/)
Folded towards the window and sitting in place.
http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/4644/pic71z.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/189/pic71z.jpg/)
Next step was to get the engine mounted in place for trial mock up to see what modifications needed to be made. The rad must be modified along with the intercooler. We want these sitting nice and flush behind the bumper. Also the manifold needs to be chopped slightly and moved about 20 mm to avoid any interference with the steering rack. We also moved the rack forward slightly to help us gain maximum steering angle.
http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/4369/pic81.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/837/pic81.jpg/)
DriftKits.EU is working with us on the body kit for this season.
Brian Campbell of DriftKits will be supplying us with all our body panels this year.
We are going to have a mix match design on the car which we are really excited about.
The quality of the finish on these kits are amazing, with very little prep work involved before painting.
They fit really well which makes things a lot easier, especially in drifting when panels do be replaced very often!
Here is a quick snap of the front on the car with the s15 front,

Ok so left the engine away to Richard Bradley, he's getting it built up and ready for final fitting, new pumps, belts etc.. easier done out than in. While its away i got stuck into small little bits...
Spent 3 Days sanding down the interior and engine bay then gave it 5 Coats of ETCH Primer
http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/7946/etchpriming.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/809/etchpriming.jpg/)
http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/2534/etchprimingcomplete.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/688/etchprimingcomplete.jpg/)
Then 2 Coats of undercoat.
http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/5580/undercoatingcomplete.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/194/undercoatingcomplete.jpg/)
So we mixed up our own custom color for the interior and engine bay, pictures do this no justice, come grab a look at round 1 and see what you think?
http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/6927/cagepainted.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/841/cagepainted.jpg/)
Decided to fully strip done the calipers and go crazy with the spray gun again, some people use a brush but i want them mint.. (Long Nights!)
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/3420/calipersfinished.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/195/calipersfinished.jpg/)
Also done the rocker covers, again custom colors, and no i didn't just lacquer over a sticker, it took ages to do:eek:
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/4004/rockercovers.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/21/rockercovers.jpg/)
Will end this off with our new turbo..

OK well overdue UPDATE:
Not going to post all pics here, but to give you's a run down, this last few months have been absolutely crazy getting this car built, We were out for Ennis last weekend but unfortunately on Thursday night on our first test drive the engine decided to knock!! that was the last thing we wanted..
Set off Friday at lunch time to get another engine, while my Girlfriend Emma and my mate started to take the old engine out, got back home at 7:30 friday night, and started to strip and rebuild the new engine, with much hassle along the way, Including Broken Spigot Bearing (which a Subaru Leone one will fit with some modification by Dad ) Broke the terminal of the Dry Cell Race battery, Clutch adjuster broke also @ 4:30 Am Sat Morning,
And then we looked at the time 5am, Finally going, but the clutch issue left things not perfect for us, rather than take a chance and hope for the best, we decided to wait and get these teething problems sorted for round 4..
AUTOLIFERS will have a full feature on the car in the next day or 2,
Bear in mind, we need to fit a Rear bumper diffuser and BGW,
http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/28/i0is.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/593/i0is.jpg/)
Huge thanks to Robbie and the lads @ TDP.ie who got the car sorted and mapped for us in time,
Big Thanks to All Friends, Family and My Partner Emma who worked very hard especially this past weeks and months gone by. Its been worth it all!! :)
Big thanks to Darren Cross for the engine,
And to all our Sponsors,

Thanks for the clip sandstorm :)
@Evo; I use shampoo on the window, helps keep it clear, plus there is always alot of heat in the cockpit area when you get it out for a good run anyway.
@Bougey; yeah, gota get something sorted for the rear asap. I got sorted with a prop, anyways will keep that in mind for again, cheers,
@Joey, Certainly will be great to get on drivers doors again! been a year nearly now, will take me a bit to get the hang of it i'd say, but with only 2 rounds left, round 4 it's all or nothing!! Go hard or go home!!
