View Full Version : m3 touring drift car
picked this up today after building my turbo mx5 for 6 months and only getn 1 day out on track with it. the day itself wasnt great car was shit i was shit but it had me hooked so i sold up and decided i needed a drift car.
seen this up here although i wasnt sold on the looks of it the spec for the money just couldnt be ignored so i took the plunge and bought it. I cant take any credit for the car its need some tidying and a few loose ends tied up but thats the fun of it hopefully i can put my own spin on it and more importantly LEARN TO DRIFT IT !!!
heres some snaps!

You're best off buying a decent car to learn if you can afford it. I saw this on donedeal, it was a great price for a hell of a lot of car. very different too.. Looking forward to seeing you out on track :)

Nice job......Liamo is good at what he does. Cant wait to see this car finished, wanted it myself so bad :/
my initial plan of different wheels kinda took a blow as iv zero cash so iv tried do with what i have .The fronts are fine maybe another 10 mill spacer but the backs just looked desperate . So i decided id try splitting them and giving them a lick of paint.iv them done satin black because the dish has gone beyond polishing not total gone on them black either tho heres some snaps

Is she M3'd yeah?
gona be a mean looking bus. best of luck
cheers lads dont know offset but should be almost exactly what i need to fill my rear arch :). half thinkn of should of done them estriol blue like the bay but dont think it would of being mean / race look enough.
Get me a pic with these on please!! Ive just realised ive 2 bbs sitting in the shed :)
theyll be on friday when i get home. if u wana sell them 2 let me know need skid rims
Is that safe? Reversing the barrels that much like?
Would it not put added pressure on hubs, suspension etc?
i done a bit of research before i did it and anything i could find said it was safe enough maybe a little more wear to bushing etc but nothing insane. there was a few vs. threads i came across but u get that shit on everything
got one wheel on before it headed away for some wiring .
its a mile away from working thank god i only did the one . back to square 1 now :(

If you really want the wheels reversed, I'm sure you could get somebody to make you up some wider arches by giving them the current ones as a guide.
Are you going to bring the front wheels out as much or leave it staggered since if you go reversing the fronts you'll probably have big KPI issues.
Will look pretty cool if the rears were reversed and arches sorted though!
Going to need a bloody wide trailer with a ass that wide too!!! :D
Ye was keepn fronts the same . Would it affect the driving of the car with the rear being so wide . Wouldn't be a mad issue to modify the arches
First off, stretch some tyres on! Also play around with the centres from the front on the rear dishes. They should be different!
Wider stance will give more grip, but on narrow wheels like them you're not going to have much grip anyways with decent power!

Don't know really... I know having the front wider will usually make the car easier to turn in and change direction while the rear being a lot wider will do the opposite and cause a slight tendency to understeer but the more power you have, you can overcome that of course :)
Just make your front wishbones as wide as possible I suppose and fit enough spacers to fill the arches you have without compromising your KPI too much.
wider rear will probably help you with grip too and the 911 GT cars don't seem to do too badly with the rear track much wider than the front even if not actually drift cars :)
:D I've been waiting for this after seeing what you're up to :)
I rele want this car to drive well . So don't want to compromise that too much . Ill try that Peter maybe be different .
Any updates in this should be cool when finished! never was a bmw fan but seen one like this on dd a while back and suddenly I wouldnt mind having one e30 m3 estate is the only way to go!
Have few bits noughts camber arm , bonnet pins etc etc . Got all the wiring done will take pics pics and update as soon as :-)

love the car haydn i was watching this on dd when it was up and im glad it's eneded up in good hand's
as for the wheel's and the dish i wouldnt go messing round with that that much dish the way your doing it, i really dont think the wheel bearing's would be able for it just my 2cents
since im stuck with these bbs due to lack of funds i said id tidy them up iv one done. heres the results did them estriol blue to tie in with the cage and bay . they were very rough i didn got mad stripping them back as theyll probably get recked drifting.

booked in last week for super drift . I had to commit myself to a date so i would tie up all the loose ends and get her out.
despite some electrical drama the night before i got her there,
At the start of the day i struggled due to it be a new car and all i found it a lot more grippy than previous cars and also found you had too work the steering a whole lot more which was all new to me. first few laps were terrible . i hit a tractor tyre pretty hard but all i broke was my bumper:cool:. a lot tougher than my previous mx5.
Car ran amazing all day long i was thrilled got a few good laps near the end roll on the next event i loved every second of it :D
some action shots lost some bumpers by this stage :)
