We all know how long it is since Rosegreen's gates have been closed.
We have been trying to get this event for a while and now it is happening.

It is on Saturday 13th Oct 2012 and it is a night time event 4pm-10.30pm
It is limited to 40 drivers to ensure plenty of tracktime and we have 20 names so far.
The track layout is the exact same as before and its 100 euro entry.

The ONLY way this event can happen is if it is run in a unique way.
There will be no Judging or qualifying - it will be constant head to head runs.
Each driver gets to lead a run as normal.
The Lead driver in the battle is timed and the faster driver wins.
The clock starts from the green flag and stops at the finish line.

The fastest 8 drivers of the day face off at the end of the night.
The winner gets the "Rosebowl Cup" and there will be trophies for 2nd and 3rd

There is a trophy for the best wall run and there is a trophy for the most aggressive driver.
Morris is on the mike and we have a DJ for the tunes.

The whole day is organised to be just a bit of FUN and to try and get one of Ireland’s best tracks back again.
This is where it all started and the track closes in October so this could be a one off event.

Never got to see drifting at Rosegreen, and now funnily enough I spend allot of time not far away from the track. So am delighted to see any kind of drifting making a return, I hope it goes well and hope everyone does there bit to get the word out.

But its not really drifting if its timed laps and no judges is it? Do the cars have to be sideways the whole time?

Great to see it back, but i'm just puzzled as its not drifting as we see in all other competitions.

Can I ask why is drifting specifically not allowed in Rosegreen. Not into the scene long enough to know the story behind why it was stopped there, though I thought it was just a noise reason.

Tyre changing will be done by Autodoc, they will be bringing a van of tyres for drivers that need them.

The track was tested yesterday and we decided to make the track bigger and include inside track straight and other hairpin.

Due to the time of year and clashes with other events the driver entries numbers are down for this event.

We had the choice to cancel it or to run it with the numbers we have as a trial for a possible future progression.

We have decided to go ahead with it as a closed trial night.

We want to thank the drivers who have entered for helping invest in Rosegreen’s future.

If you still want to come and spectate you are more that welcome.

We are open to any drivers who want to drive on the night (Retro, Rally, TA), but please confirm your entry beforehand (086 803 7713)

Thanks also to everybody else for the support it should still be a fun night.:wink:

Roughly twenty drivers in for this, some lads in, some out. Will update the list tonight if I get a chance.
Remember everybody due to the lack of drivers, we had to wind this back to a trial night , so don’t expect a D1 gig.

Cant believe theres not a full list for this tbh !
If i was still in the country id def be in, not that id be of a competitive standard but just the chance to drift rosegreen, this is where it all started !

Just on the road back to Cork. Must say it was a good enough old night and a decent crown out at the Rose Bowl. Reaaly big shame the numbers of cars was soo small. No more than about 15/16 cars which got a bit repeditive after a while but the driving from those out there was top class. The young fella Shanahan was running some top class lines all night and so was Damien Shortt. Now, all we need is to get IDC to have a night round in Rosegreen making it the most epic event ever!!! BTW, i never knew how fuckin fast stock cars were. Some yokes

Was there myself have to say it was well worth the watch the same about the numbers if I had my car done and i was of some standard of driving I'd of loved to drive there tonight looks so exciting ! Defo hope there's a bit of drifting on there next year ! Was cold tho haha

Was great to get back to rosegreen again after so long. The number of drivers was abit disappointing considering drifting wouldn't even be big in Ireland only for rosegreen but its was a good night regardless. It really got enjoyable when the track had dried up after 7 and the few drivers arrived down from fermoy. Standard of drifting outta some drivers was top class. Hopefully there'll be another event organised there soon that isn't clashing with anything..

It was great to be back in Rosegreen after all these years where some great days were had,I didnt expect much when it was clashing with Driftfest but could not belive the lack of cars when arrived around 4 but a couple more cars arrived by 6.30,I counted only 15 cars included the evo,eg6,starlet and hot rod rover,only for Kieran Stack and Damien Shortt putting on a good show and young Shanahans on form driving Id have been very pissed of for making the 2hr drive.
Very loosely organised,no tow vehicle for removing Kevin O'Connells car,no on track marshals and car park security was non exsist when some muppets in Mammys '4x4' were trying to do dounuts and making a show of themselves.
Great to see Rosegreen back but sorry theres alot of work to do in order to run a good event

Firstly thanks to everyone that came to support Rosegreen on sat night.
It was great to see get cars back on the track after all these years.

As said previously the drivers numbers were down due to clashes but this was the only date we could run it between now and next year and unfortunately a number of cars had to pull out on Friday and Saturday for a variety of reasons.

We said it was a trial night and we now know what we need to focus on in the future.

The Good news is that it may now be possible to have more track time for drivers next year, but the best part is that the driver only pays 50-60 euro.

In our opinion this is the best track to drive in the country and we are going to push hard on this and we will know more in a few weeks.
Big thanks to all the drivers for putting on a massive show and everybody else that helped out.

This was an awsome event, it was all about the driving and nothing else, I had forgotten how aggressive the track was. I went for a look and the second I got there I was sorry I didnt bring the car.
Well done for getting drifting back to where it belongs, and for anyone who thinks we have outgrown rosegreen, the oval would eat you alive.
The rosebowl is just mean.
I will not miss the next one.

Just a question, with the night time event and the neighbours ,how long before they shut it down? I imagine people sitting down to dinner adn getting pissed off with us bunch and complaining. genuine question

Was a shame it was clashing with fermoy, would have loved to gone for a look. At €60 I'd definatley go if it was run again, thats really good value to be fair.

was a shame the number weren't there.. but fairplay to all that turned up.. didn't have much luck myself after a hard season in timeattack the craics started to show in the evosnot.. only got a few runs in till rear drive went..

Few nice vids and pics up there.As this was kinda only a trial run it was never goin to be as epic as previous prodrift rounds etc.Well done to Jon Hall for organising this and getting things moving in the right diection.
Got a good few laps myself til cwp gave up but was really lovin to be back in Rosegreen after all these yrs.Time for winter overhaul now anyway and will be waiting to hear on news of Rosegreen drifting in 2013.Its where drifting all began in this country so lets try make the next event a huge success with both drivers and spectators support
