Well All

Was up north in Bishopscourt yesterday but the car didnt run right all day. She looses power for a second on full boost, around 4-4n a half rpm. Im thinking its fuelling, also the exterior fuel pump seems very loud like its starved of fuel.......So i think the fuel pump is flucked..

Anybody experience this before? Help needed asap

Cheers

Did you check the vacuum pipe on the fuel pressure regulator? It there a gauge on the fuel line? Was the tank full of fuel.

The pump is fairly loud in your car alright, in punchestown, we though you left the pump switched on when you parked, and went over to the car and then could hear that it was actually running. Bosch 044 pump is it

Uprated pumps arnt the most reliable, maybe try one that deffo works..

Also how much fuel had you? if it wasnt enough the pump might not have been able to pick any up..

Starving uprated pumps wears them out very quickly too.

How did ya do up there anyway??

The Bosch 044 is meant to be very strong, its a huge external pump, and even pumping dry they can run for a nice bit unlike the walbro or other internal pumps. We have one in the Silvia, the pressure they throw out is huge, so might affect the regulator over time.

Robbie Thornton mapped it didnt he, maybe get onto him...

Been onto him, he said he will supply and fit a new pump but will have to map it again! Is this true?

if its a different kind of pump then probably, yes.

He might be worried it was mapped on a faulty pump so with the new one the fuel pressure will be different in different parts of the map.

if its a straight like for like swap i cant see why it would need a remap though

Should he not have been able to figure out that the fuel pump was weak while he was mapping it?

he prob just upped the pressure till it was reading what he wanted to map with.

After you get it fitted all you should really need is a dyno run and record your afr's. Then youll see if its over/under fuelling and if you need a new map.

ya you shouldn need a re-map,all your doing is replacing the fuel pump, get a similar lph pump for it.if its very noisey its more then likely the pump on the way out.
