Petrol gauge not working on 180

As above the fuel gauge hasn't been working on my 180 ever since I bought the car so its getting really annoying so does anyone have suggestions of what the problem might be ? :confused:

Check the wiring going to the fuel pump, any corrosion at the connector block or broken wires?? Test the fuel sender wire to the dash and see are ya getting current if u are ur gauge must be gammy if not theres a problem wit the wiring!! my 2 cents anyway.

Spot on thanks, I don't think its the gauge itself because when id be on track the gauge would jump upto half and stay there
