a few people asking about this so i might aswell stick up a build thread,,
bought this as a run about in 07 , didnt intend on doing much with it but it came with the trd arch kit(never mind the shitty spoiler), tried it on one day and it all started from there,

started stripping it down with the intention of fitting a 4age and AE rear axle, to cut a long story short the floor had lots of holes and the 4age plan went out the window,, had a few ca18s lying around so stuck one in instead, also fitted a polybushed early spec ae86 axle at this point,,

floor had lots of 1e size holes an rather than mess about patching them all i got a bit excited one day with the grinder and cut the whole thing out

sent it off for blasting and was pretty happy with what i had left,, a few small holes here and there but nothing too serious

car lay for about over a year then as i had a load of other projects and customer cars to do aswell as a season of udc,, as the year went on my 180 was becoming a potential doner,, 5years of road driving/ streeto/ some pd, mondello track days and 4 seasons of udc had taken its toll on the bodywork and chassis legs and it was finally time to park her up

after the 180 was broke i got busy at the starlet, modifying the rear end for the 180sx subframe and a load of fabrication work at the floor , tunnel, cage boxes ect

just wondering y didnt you run a live axle outa a lite ace or vanet ,it just looks like your mounting points for back supframe are going to fairly close to the ground clearence could be a issue ??

a few reasons , half shafts getting hard to come by now as most people that had wee vans at the back of the house weighed them in for scrap,, had all the nissan stuff there,, brakes , load of diffs and adj arms, mounting points are about 15mm lower than the original ones for the live axle so there will be no clearance problems,,

another wee bit done on this,, sr and box in,, gearbox mount to make up and firewall to finish and thats all the fab work done, down to bodywork then,, 16 a bit too big on rear,, prob go 4 stud and run 15s instead

Ok,, bumping this up as.I've made the decision to go full attack on this to get it finished, had planned to buy a gs300 for rolling around as the 180 is going into storage, decided against it as I'd probably pour a whole lot of cash into the gs and the starlet would never get done, what I really need to move on with this kp are the wheels and rear suspension, 2 pumps and swirl pot, hydro and a few other wee bits, mostly labour involved when I get them bits out of the way,

door no 2 fitted,, actually a good enough fit for fibreglass but must have been moulded from the most dinted kp doors ever,, wavy and full of knuckle dints,, nothing a bit of blocking wont sort,,

trying to place everything where it should go now and do all the drilling, mounting, cutting and welding I can before the car gets painted,, nothing worse than grinding or drilling over fresh paint,, have a colour picked out too,, something retro and far from the mad metalflake and pearl I normally go for,, should suit nicely,, loom is also fitted so I hope to have it starting by the weekend,,
