Well everyone,,
Have been following all types of motorsport since i was a child and love drifting so i recently bought a 323 E36 Bmw which i hope to start stripping soon for drifting.
Have two other projects ongoing on my road car a Euro R accord Cl7 and my keeper a Bmw E30 so going to be keeping this cheap and cheerful for the first while.
Car is 110% with no rusty arch's, no overheating or any of the usual problems.
Bodywork is perfect just needs a quick polish, also came with a reconditioned Lsd and a full M3 kit and half leather interior.
95000 miles with a full Bmw service history,, shame to be tracking it i suppose but fuck it i have to start somewhere :)
Just said id put up a thread here and ask for some advice as to what mods i should be going for?
The plan so far is:
Fully strip the interior
Coilovers or else 60mm springs (recommendations???????)
Nice set of motorsports or sunflowers (any out there?? drifting wheels also?recommended rear sizes?)
Electric fan(S)
Hydraulic handbrake (recommendations??)
source another diff or two (should i stick with the lsd or go welded diffs?not sure what ratio is in it but its fairly tight)
In time fit a cage and proper harnesses
M50 manifold if i could find one handy
Full straight through ss exhaust

Any other recommendations welcome and if any of ye have any contacts for cheap parts for these cars id greatly appreciate it!! Thanks:cool:
Heres a pic of it :)

thats a nice base to start with :) will it be a full time drift car or for the streets more? if its for drifting most buy coilovers as you can get good ones for aslittle as 200 quid :) personaly id go for 16's and get a master cylinder of .625 for the hydro as it would lock up the best :) and welded diff would prob be better than an LSD...

yeas the car is perfect all it needs is a bushing in the front right,,
well im going putting nct on it when its up but i will be keeping it mainly for track use with the odd spin on the road to keep her from seizing up :P
Would be fairly cool to be able drive to youre drift events all the same but might not be very practicle :)

Looks like a great base P! Maybe too good to drift but if all else fails and you make bits of it, you can always stick the engine into the E30 :D

Just said id put up a thread here and ask for some advice as to what mods i should be going for?
The plan so far is:
Fully strip the interior: Make sure you get all the sound deadening out too
Coilovers or else 60mm springs (recommendations???????) FK coilovers aren't too bad. Them or BCs but they'd only really be for when you get reall into skidding and want the most from it

Nice set of motorsports or sunflowers (any out there?? drifting wheels also?recommended rear sizes?)
For a 328, 17s with something like 205-215/40s would do fine. Will spin a 235/35 but will be stretching it in terms of grunt needed.
Get some E34 5 series BBSes and throw on some 205/50s or similar if you want cheap fun and plenty of sliding at the start

Hydraulic handbrake (recommendations??) Have one here that I'll probably sell as I need one with an integrated cable

source another diff or two (should i stick with the lsd or go welded diffs?not sure what ratio is in it but its fairly tight) LSD is perfect if its been rebuilt or extremely tight but the ratio is totally wrong for drifting. If you want it to be a semi-road drift car, go for something like a 3.46-3.64 or if its just for the track, go with a 4.1-4.45. Will need most of these ratios to be built by fitting an apropriate cwp into an E36 casing

Extra lock hubs and modified arms or E46 arms will help alot in steering and getting good angles. Steering quickener can make a big difference for some people too. M50 inlet, BBTB and re-map will make it pull very well.
When the clutch goes, I'd really recommend an M20 flywheel and clutch. Similar to the E30 iS mod but it makes a much bigger difference in these due to having more power to make use of it and also because they have a very heavy dual-mass flywheel to start with

Good buy ya got their man , looks the part

If i where you i would
strip it out ,
weld up a diff and sell on your lsd if its going to be a track car .
stick in a 4.4 cwp ( look up ebay.com and its a 188mm one your after , keep an eye and you will get one for around 120euro)
a hydro and your ready for some track time :afro:

I wouldnt bother about coilovers unless the suspension is fucked or an exhaust or cage to start with .

Go to the practice days and get some seat time and enjoy it , then as ya get the hang of it do some mods to it inbetween the practice days .

People get too wraped up in building cars to big spec and a yr later they still havent got any seat time .

Bit of a update on this, done a day out in tynagh last July and it was serious craic!! doing the next day again with driftfest on the 28th.
Since buying it ive fully stripped the car out apart from dash and sound deadning as i havent had the time or patience for the s.deadning.
Ive fitted a hydraulic handbrake, new steering wheel new metal water pump and coolant flush.
Also wired up a electric fan for extra cooling to prevent overheating and took out the thermostat.
Fitted a M3 front lip too just to improve the front end appearance.
I got a set of 17" Genuine BBS split rims too with serious tyres but need to get more camber on the front as they are catching the wings.

Eventually got the cAR loaded on the trailer at 2am the night before driftfest then headed away again at half 6 :P Had awful bother with one of the handbreak fittings but eventually got it sorted after welding up a few pieces and one of the lads plastering it in chemical metal the day after :D
Heres some pics and from the day out,,

Since ive added to my collection of wheels with a set of bbs e34 wheels. Will get pics of these soon.
Also got a 325 open diff which i welded as i wasnt happy enough with the other diff for track use.
Bought a deep dish Omp steering wheel and boss kit too as i prefer the look and feel of the suede.
Ive a Recaro bucket seat to fit too and im currently getting a full staright through exhaust made up.
