Have had the car a few weeks now had it out for two drift days, its time I did some work to it now though!!
As I bought it boggo besides a welder, the cage some bonnet pins and a kill switch

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/3283/d85af07d.jpg
First couple of days out in it went well
Somebody managed to catch a photo of me going in the right direction :afro:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/469903_10150786483676303_179704591302_12160952_562 825157_o.jpg
The second day out I fitted a carbon fibre bucket seat that I had from my last car and an out of date TRS harness and sidemount I picked up from www.johnmoynihanrallying.com
First off I had to make up a solid base to bolt the aluminium sidemount to...
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/3283/e150d070.jpg
I Couldn't fit the eyebolts for the harness in the original holes for the be;ts so I welded in some eyebolts with load spreader plates. It was tough enough not to blow holes in the floor with the stick welder but I got there in the end and gave it a lick of paint.

Seat with the sidemount fitted:
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/3283/2cf2181e.jpg
During the second drift day I hit a tyre pushing the rad back onto the viscous, I was lucky not to do any damage so I took it as a warning and made up a bar going between the two front impact dampers. While I was preping the car for this I took out the aircon rad and fan, it probably wan't doing any favours for cooling.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/3283/1b7970fc.jpg
I don't have a pipe bender so I cut a V out of the bar like this
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/3283/6f0d089b.jpg
Then put it against the wall and hammered it until it was at the right angle and put some weld across the gap.

Painted:
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/3283/6edb0106.jpg
I've lost the use of the impact bars now as they are welded but I can take the bar off whenever I want so i reckon its a better job than welding to the chassis legs. Note to anyone doing the same, be prepared for the impact bars to make a fair bang when the gas gets too hot inside them and wants to get out
Must trim some of the bumper brackets to get it sitting right with the new bar

Badly needs coilovers and possibly a hydro too for next day out.

One of the lads said my handbrake wasn't locking both wheels the last day so I'm hacking together a hydro out of shit I've lying around. If it works I'll keep it if not I'll man up and buy one.
Using a master cylinder from a 5 series that I scraped a while back so must make a bracket for it to sit iinto. Welding is cack should have clamped it together but I was too lazy i must put more box in anyway to strengthen it cuz the steel I had was very thin.

Dog rough  going to mount it where the back seat used to be, saw a similar job done in that hickey lads cam in ennis so hopefully I can make that work.
Johns car has a proper cylinder but a extended pin to get the Handel in the correct position for him and the corolla hasn't much space ,
Looks like in one pic your using the servo ?
Smokey Bear
18-05-12, 02:08
Yeah, as I say its just shit I have lying around, its a master cylinder and with the resivoir and all that I haven't space to sit it up next to me so I'm going to mount it behind me and just have my handle up front. Was just seeing did the holes still line up with the stud of the servo, it all warped a good bit while I was welding it, duno if I'll use it or not yet.

Master cylinder I had started leaking so I fucked that idea away, going to just buy a hydro, don't want brake fluid all over the car cuz its horrible shit.
Been quiet with this for a while, got hacking again tonight though.
Found an mtech gearknob badge and stuck it on this black gearknob

Thanks bud! THere was a group buy on bmw driver, i think it was mcg autostyling, €100 for the four of them, twas damn cheap!
I think the back needs to come down more, might just put in some cut springs and see how they work out.
Kool build lad. Nice colour too. :) Still running standard diff and clutch??

Dam cheap is right ! hard too beat
Aye had same prob with the back of mine , when ever their all stripped out they sit a good bit higher . When i had the std springs in it sat like a range rover :D
Mine settled a good bit after a few events and im happy enough with how it sits now .
You get the wee adjuster that sits into the lowering spring ?
I didnt bother fitting mine , just put the springs in on their own .

Thanks chuck! Yeah its a 325 or 328 diff I reckon going by the ratio and its welded, suits me. Clutch is standard aswel, when I get some money I'll get something better, I miss the ORC I had in the last car some serious clutch!
No I ordered the cheapest FK coils when they were on offer and it just looks like theres no adjusters for the back, well there was none in the box. Be grand adjuster will only make it higher and I couldn't be arsed emailing a load of gerrys for them to be sent out anyway. In time il get stiffer ones but i just want to get it a bit sorted and get some use out of it for the moment!
Should have more pics up during the week of the hydro mounted, its in under the dash and angled towards me, I think I should have plated the tunnel all the same though, id say it will flex a lot.
Naw no call for them anyway , mine are laying on da shelf .
Done the same i got a set of ebay specials , will do the job to the till the sponsers start rolling in :D
Hydro in mine is just welded to the tunnel on the otherside of the gearstick and no flex out of it their anyway , not plated either . Should be all good .

I wanted a straight through exhaust for this seeing as it wasn't going on the road anymore, liamcrowley on here agreed to make one up and for very handy money too, sound lad to deal with! The birdshit on the silencer is mine, I didnt take pics of his welding, put mine to shame!
I put the straight through on and the neighbour was in the next day giving out when I was testing the handbrake so I chucked a couple of the boxes from the old exhaust into it. Never knew ye could get rods for welding stainless with the stick welder, don't want to know either anymore with the price of them

Picked up a driftworks solid lightweight flywheel. No pictures at the moment but weighed the two flywheels, dual mass was 11.5 kg's and the driftworks was a small bit over 5kg's. I'd say it will make a good difference to it! I'm sticking with the original clutch for the moment but I'd say I'll get something with a sprung disc at the end of the year, I don't think its too good having an unsprung clutch disc with a solid flywheel.

Sound Shane, have u any machine out in kangaroo land?
Picked up a fuel pressure regulator from John Moynihan Rallying, its adjustable and goes up to 5 bar. I bought the unions in hose tec because I didn't want to get braided lines, just because I'm a tight cont more than anything else. Still only getting a bar of fuel pressure though so I must have another problem. It must be down to weak fuel pump, blocked filter or leaking injector. Hopefully I can solve it soon.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/3283/7F3316BB-3F81-4F05-935F-726D3F07381D-3941-000003731F738083.jpg
Half bolted in place, I put it in under the air box. That side of the bay is tight but I didn't want to risk having a leak and fuel pissing down on the manifolds which is the side with most space.

So I fitted an upgraded Walbo fuel pump last night still couldn't get it to start. Cleaned the air mass meter and re wired the pump and it started up nicely. I want to run it tomorrow and make sure fuel pressure is correct and that the sump isn't filling with oil anymore hopefully it was the regulator. If that's all good ill head to watergrasshill for Superdrift!
Wouldn't be running without RE-AL he's a fucking boss!
