has anybody ever had this problem on here? what are the symtoms you would feel when driving? mines making the noise on wot but boost holding perfectly at .6 and accelerating fine, jus making the pidgeon noise or bov delete noise (not sure what the correct term is ha). i read on other forums that you would definatly feel boost come in and out like you were puttin your foot on and off accelerator but its fairly smooth all the way up, noise only happens at full boost. no blow in the exhaust either and cant find any boost leaks.

Why would you feel the boost come in and out? Compressor surge is when you let off!

Symptoms are 'whiiiiiiissshhhhHHHHHHHH......SHUTUTUTUTUTUTU'

It's cool. Louder the better. Haha. I've NEVER seen a turbo fail from it, Internet myth Pretty much

haha no mate ive a good idea of the theory behind compressor surge and genuine compressor surge happens under full load at full boost not when u let off, and is very bad it can destroy an engine if the air forces the turbo blades to break, but what im wondering is has anybody any experience of genuine surge?

1 Million factors to be concidered.
I tried having a casual chat with one of my enthusiastic lecturers about it, as he did a lot of top research on induction and also on Lazer ignition... He couldnt really get into it as there were just tooo many variables.

yeah nobody seems to be able to pinpoint it and if a lecturer is telling u that i guess its just time to start eliminating things 1 by 1, effort of taking the turbo out tho ha i hope its something silly but doubt it.

Never experienced it coming on / off like your foot on / off the trottle? have you still the oem bov on it? are you sure you haven't got a different issue and the noise is just a result of it, ie boost cut/afm or something

what turbo have you?
actual compressor surge is when the engine cant cope with the amount of air being fed by the turbo.
you need a huge turbo on a 2 litre engine for this to happen
surge due to lifting off and backfeeding through the compressor due to lift off is a different concept.
it cant happen on wot

exactly as above ,surge on load is very bad as the air is bouncing back against the turbo blades and back spinning in pulses while its trying to pump the air in(very unstable), surge on lift off is ok but still not good but wont blow up the turbo or anything
