1JZ Mini

How are tings, my name is Liam and I'm from cork.

My project is definitely something different, as ye may see from the title I'm building a single turbo 1JZ mini.:p

The general spec of the engine is going to be similar to the 1JZ in the Driftworks R32 Skyline, so single Garrett Gt35r, 264 cams, 650cc injectors, possible a slightly ported head, bigger valves and stronger valve springs. Gearbox is going to be a standard R154 and the diff is a TRD 2 way.

The car is going to be a full tubular spaceframe with double wishbone suspension front and rear, I yet have to decide what hubs I will use, either ford, honda or custom.

Wheels and tyres are also undecided, but probably will be diamond racing wheels, 13x12 for the back and 13x8 for the front. Tyres, front will be a rally style and rears will be either slicks or circuit racing tyres.

Yea I'd say some kindve trick suspension lad, itd be an awful shame to go through all the hard work and have it done and then it turn out to be a pig to drive! You should get plenty of help on here anyway! Best of luck!

Tats sum job amassing Wat u can do with a mini these days. Was lookin at one the other nite 2.0 turbo engine in the rear. He has it made that the whole body lifts off to work on engine. Best of luck with ur build.

Ya you can I put them on a friends balancing machine and the biggest number we got 60 so that is fixable!
They are dodgy tho, I wouldn't recommend getting a set unless you know that they where done really well by a perfessional!

Yes, I finally got a tube bender!!:P


Started I did a bit of work with the bender yesterday, i could only get the main hoop done because my hole saw died, for about the tenth time. Will get a few more of them tomorrow so i will hopefully have the main bit of the cage done tomorrow.

I have a drift project coming up and i have started collecting parts for it, and today decided to place my sr running gear in the mini to see if I could possible use something along these lines. It seems to fit some what decently, but the rear subframe will need some chopping up to make fit and new shorter coilovers will be needed if i am to go for this running gear.

I finished the main part of the cage today, next to be done is to sort the suspension and mount the engine and gearbox.
not to sure how long this will take, hopefully not too long but you'd never know!:p

Amm i have being looking at a few different ways to make it steer, what I'm probably going to use is s13 hubs custom arms and a BMW e36 steering rack.
The hubs are goin to need modifying aswell, because I'm using the right hand hub on the left and visa versa, Im doing this to move the steering rack infront of the hubs. If I was to keep it in behind the hubs it would be half way through my sump!:p

its hard to get these things finnished but what you done so far is unreal its hard to have both time and money to finnish these things but solong as you dont rush things you wil get there top work its goin to be an animal when done
