rite lads and ladys ...

car went for test to day

failled only on emissions and rear rims 2 wide .

emissions detail's

passed on low idel (tick over )

high idel
2760(rpm)

lamba 1.08 should be between .97 and 1.03

co2 0.43 vol % should'nt be over .30%

hc 897 ppm not to be above 200ppm

there is a cat in the car at the min new steel gasket between cat and mani and between cat and cat back and new gasket half way back at the diff .

(cat in car 3months )

has 2 lamba sensor's in car 1 6" from the head in the 4 branch and 1 on the cat . (pluged into cat)

we dont have an emission tester in the garage but have the use of a 2009 model SUN 1

also no crack's or leaks in the exhaust

any hlep ??

cheers

My opinion is its prob the front lambda sensor. The second one is normally to tell ya if the cat gets blocked. Its normally after the cat. Wit my last 200sx the lambda was high like that and a new sensor fixed it up perfect

Your car is running lean and you u have high hc cause u proble have a vacuum leak r a intake gasket leak

HC's very high that usually means engine wear it ur turbo on its way out?

yeah ur car is running lean ya sure ya dont have a small exhaust leak?

also hc is unburnt fuel which is suppose to be bunrt off in the cat i reckon your cat is fooked

The high hc is form burning oil.

put the bottle of dipetane in with 15 petrol or so and drive for half an hour, I did that and it took emissions down from 1.12 to 1.01 in the space of an hour driving, obviously not solving the problem but will probably get you through the test..

i knw it dosnt cure the problem and i dont reali care as engine comming out soon anyway .. just need the test :D

use a thicker oil . use proboost and dipetane together at the recomended dosage per litre and reden the cat before the test ....p.s for dipetane to work fully you have to use for a few days driving around ..dont just chuck it in on the day and think it will work(cleans the carbon off) like robbie said burning alot of oil so there is a big amount of carbon build up too

dont use a thicker oil thats not going to solve your proplem and just couse more in the future . the best thing to do in my opinion is to get a BG CLEAN process done on youre engine b4 u bring it 4 the retest this removes oil contaminates and carbon build up drasticly, just another option for you to explore:wink:

In the past two weeks ive had probably 6 or 7 customers come back to me with emission fails, we've put them on the tester and they all passed! I think the nct centre have dodgy smoke testers!!

So we print off a reading from it and send them back and the nct pass them!!
