View Full Version : Bushing Removal Help
I want to swap out the worn rear control arm bushings to polyurethane ones I have there. How are people removing them and what's the handiest? Burning them out then hammer and chizel?
Thanks in advance.

Don't have a cutting torch Robbie.
I'll go at them again in the morning
burn or drill lad, choice is yours, drilling just takes more effort though.
Removing them was grand, drilled the rubber then put the hacksaw blade through the metal liner.. grand.
Now putting the new urethane ones in... I started on the lower control arms.. that bushing is not going to fit in there!!! Lubed the shit out of it and tried to push it in with the vice. Not a chance, there's like a lip on the bushing.. FFS!

The vice i'm using is half the size of your one. How'd you get them in in the end?

With the lip that's on them, not a chance they're gna go in. I might take a bit of the lip and try again.
The bushings on the knuckles will be more crack, I have a press in the garage.. but the knuckles are just awkward and won't fit.
Sure tomorrows another day!
press is the only way 2 get poly bushings in without damanging them
