View Full Version : From bog standard to street monster... EvictedWear.com 2012 Project Car
Mission: Change people's opinions on R33's... and create a decent promotional vehicle able to perform demo's etc whilst remaining street legal.
I started off with a bog standard R33, the previous owner had changed the exhaust, clutch, air filter and suspension + added a GTR spoiler..

http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo10.jpg
Once i had made my mind up as to which direction i wanted to go, i replaced the oem seats and steering wheel
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2.jpg
Carbon fixed on the d/s and soft comfy recliner on the p/s
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo4.jpg
Right so i took off the GTR spoiler... obviously!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-1.jpg
Got my hands on complete GTR quarter panels, which extend up the C
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo4-1.jpg
Had a quick test fit.. fitment was very good, with only small work needed for good fitment it would seem
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3.jpg
Picked up some +40mm d-max wings
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo5.jpg
...and bought some wheels: Fr 18x10,5 +3 / Rr 18x12 +3
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo1.jpg
On Saturday the car spoke to me....
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3-1.jpg
..and i listened
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-2.jpg
Rears getting done whilst the front was being prepped for new wings
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo4-2.jpg
This is something i found whilst taking off panels....... Seriously!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo5-1.jpg
a bit of primer...
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo4-3.jpg
Lining up the bonnet vent - although it doesnt look like it will work... at all!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3-2.jpg
In the meantime the wings hopped on..
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-3.jpg

http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo5-2.jpg
Hate the stupid aerial on these cars so removed it......
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo1-3.jpg
Replaced the headunit with a touch screen system that has BT to connect with my iPhone + DVD etc etc (it is a street car, so i need my music)
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-4.jpg
Quarter going on..
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3-3.jpg

A good bit of progress done today.. Will get pictures up tomorrow
which the finger or the car :):p
haha i walked into that one!!
Right so went to the shop to have a look at the wheels... These are the fronts on the back.... we arent out of the woods yet!!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo1-4.jpg
Here are the proper rear..... i know its going to take a little work, however they are a must for this project!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-5.jpg
So we started trimming the quarter to make way for the rear bumper.. which fitted Very badly!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3-4.jpg
Here it is finally fitted..
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo5-4.jpg
Then on to the front bumper..... hmmmmmmmmm familiar sight!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo4-5.jpg
So after a LOOOOOOOONG fight.. the front bumper went on - Still Very very bad fit and we will have to go back at it when it comes to paint time...
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo1-5.jpg
Time for the sideskirts and same story here!! The shape of them were so terrible that we had to get creative! Good thing this car isnt being built as a trailer queen!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-6.jpg
Old wheels back on for another few days..
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3-5.jpg

When that has the wheels on its going to look the doggys do das... :afro:
What tires will you running on the rear ?
hardly a genuine kit with such a bad fitment is it ??
Either 275's or 285's on the rear dude.. Which ever looks best (fits...)
Few other small bits ordered today also... Staring to like her now

Blue chrome graphics making a come back ?:afro:

:D Looking forward to seeing her finished, gonna be mad expensive ripping up 275's thou...
As this is a street car I probably won't be goin through that many tires anyway.................... Hahahahahahaha
Looking forward to seeing her finished :)
starting to take shape lad ye cant beat the 33's
Coming along quickly....which is good as the last owner must have left it on the long finger.
I'm one of those 33 haters, so if this turns out as nicely as it seems to be heading I'll gladly doth my hat!

Awesome ive only ever seen 3 or 4 nice 33 skylines before! this will be class with the rims on! savage work!
serious tom
06-12-11, 17:42
hardly a genuine kit with such a bad fitment is it ??
No, way! Couldn't be..
I've seen kits that don't even fit the car. At all.
Thats why its so important to put the work into a quality mould.
Hope you get the kits sorted and fitting well!
Looking well so far
Tonight's the night we give it a shot ;)
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo.jpg
Rears are on.. Pics tomorrow
Rears are on.. Pics tomorrow
you little tease hahah
Here we go…. Calm before the storm??
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo1-6.jpg
James Deane looking a little puzzled as how these things were going to fit… being honest he pretty much said the entire time they would fit, I was the Giant skeptic here!!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-7.jpg
Right so machine number one…… FAIL!! Wasn’t big enough to take the 12” rears
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3-6.jpg
So off we went to garage number two…… which luckily saw the tires go on!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo4-7.jpg
Moment of truth… will they fit!!??
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo5-6.jpg
James Deane just cutting some of the FRP quarter (Just in case…)
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-8.jpg
So do they fit…. YES THEY DO!!!!! :D
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3-7.jpg
Excuse the bad pictures…!!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo1-7.jpg
Leon @ EP Racing sent out this really great carbon snap off boss which fits on to the already mounted boss… allows me to finally move back my seat whilst remaining close to the steering wheel (and not bang my knees of the dash!!)
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo4-8.jpg
NEXT up…. Front wheels ;)
Whats left to fit before paint dude ?
nice thread!
the finger freaked me out a bit ha:cool:
They look spot on, cant wait to see them all on with nice pics...

Seen this at tax office Monday, overfenders look good love to see this with the wheals on,good work!

Thanks dude, your 32 seems very clean.. well done
Fronts ready for fresh rubber.. 245/35/18 on the fronts (the rears are running 265/35/18)
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo1-8.jpg
One last check to make sure they clear, we had to add a 10mm spacer to clear the calipers
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-9.jpg
Hmmmmm
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3-8.jpg
First front on.. This all seems to be going waaaaaaay to easy!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo4-9.jpg
As i pulled out to FINALLY wash the car... this was as far as i could turn the wheels!!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo5-7.jpg
So back in she went... and we started cutting
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo1-9.jpg
....and cutting :D we had to trim both frp and metal
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-10.jpg
Finally result! + a wash!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3-9.jpg
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo4-10.jpg
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo5-8.jpg
So next small thing thats on the agenda, is to get the frp boot and bonnet on and design on color and graphic layout..
Suspension is a the next BIG project, to get the wheels sitting right... no where near where they should be at the minute obviously
/Peden
Was of the opinion the r33 was the ugly duckling of the skylines....until I saw this! Great eye for detail man! Really like it!

dark chocolate bronze maybe?
decobyrne106
14-12-11, 02:02
metallic grey or something along the lines of that. luxury car colours like audi mercedez colour etc or a nice candy colour. candy green?
Thanks for the suggestions so far!
Would be great with some car examples with the colour, preferably with dished wheels and preferably an r33 :)
Im even up for painting the wheels..... BUT remember the point of the car, it is meant to remain a practical street car with the intention of tracking it (often) and it is Not meant to be a show car!!
/Peden
Keeping it white with wheels just being painted also option... Perhaps to match cage??;)

The only issue I have with these is that it's already been done.. You know / think it will just have to be made different with the graphics I have planned and then leave it white..
P
You could get it wrapped lad...
No dude, don't think I'm going to go down that road... Too many curves etc etc
So yesterday we went at the car again, we got two things done – 1 left before Christmas all going well! The one thing we didn’t get done was to relocate the front indicators (none existent with the new BN-Sports front bumper) into the park light location, it’s something I have always wanted to see done to a 33.. so hope we can get it done, tiny detail.. but very important to me
Apex-i Turbo timer ready for fitting
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo1-10.jpg
Had a snak.... most of you won’t probably won’t know this, however I was on the Irish version of the TV show “The Apprentice” this year; and I was booted out as a result of this bar of chocolate… so thought it was funny that I found one when getting some redbull down the local
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo2-11.jpg
Last time we found something weird, we found a finger (which wasn’t real by the way……….)… this time we found a fully functional mobile phone!
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo3-10.jpg
Turbo timer fitted.. with all wires nicely hidden away from sight
http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa384/peden249/photo1-11.jpg
Last owner had “tinted” the rear lights… so we decided to rectify his little DIY job… Can you tell which is cleaned and which is not???

Them chocolate bars are all over dublin lol but the two types went out ? I thought it was only the winners design that went out. Nice change to the rear lights too.
A idea for colour would be a deep red with the wheels painted with gold centres and polished lip
A red R33 would be rare enough here, how about Mazda True Red ? I repainted the RX7 that colour and people always commented on how bright it was...

The idea I have in my head right now has the body staying white.. :) let's see what the new year brings first :) - Body still needs completion!
I thinking yesterday how working on this car really has re-inspired me and got me back into cars all over again.... Very happy chap right now!

Thats good to see folks coming back to the scene also dude, white is nice and clean also :)

we need more people who go all out like this with crazy offsets etc instead of just buying rotas and saying "that will do sure"

Thanks dude, I have pretty much decided on colours now - for body and wheels, they're not staying chrome.. Combo is very old school jdm

On the agenda after a couple more esthetic changes... And some more suspension adjusting and different profile front tire

No problem dude.. I have a few but it's really hard to get a good picture with my limited photo skills!!! But I'll try today, what I will say that the pictures won't reflect how fat she is at the back.... With the 50mm quarters and 12" rears it's really really phat! :D

Absolutely Epic skyline
keep it up!
Id leave the dish polished but change the colour of the centre
Serious skyline, i always reckoned the 33 was a dark horse, id keep it white and powder coat the wheels black!! dunno will graphics ruin it man? Can't wait to see it finished
