Well.......I bought this off Jay & Bob after Punchestown 11. It was a pretty standard car that was stripped out and had the following bits on it;
Bolt in cage, seat, hydro, front mount, fuel pump, Coilovers, a welder and custom turbo back exhaust courtesy of jay and bob. It is a good straight car with a healthy heart!
Here are a few starter pics of how the car sits at the moment
Looking sorry fot itself in the garage

I came a bit too close one too many times :-( big thanks to Gem for sorting it after the third time! The whole quarter was demolished after the last tap of the tyre bales in Mondello and he managed to get it straight again and put the original shape back into it.

Here are a few pictures of the suspension parts that I put into the car back in August....S13 subframe, solid alloy mounts, polybush drop links, adjustable rear toe, camber and traction arms

On the way;
Rebuilt HKS 2535 thanks to drift escort (deposit paid tonight, collecting next week)
Uprated Copper Mani to Turbo Gasket & Turbo to Elbow Gasket
Oil Feed & return washer and gasket
Malpassi Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator with Adaptor and Gauge
Walbro 255 Pump
New Exhaust Manifold Stud & Nut kit
replacement Hks Filter
New stainless steel bolt and washer kit to replace valve cover grommets and screws with
New upper and lower Injector seals and Sard 550's
Rocker Cover Gaskets
MLS Manifold Gasket
Pink label RB25 afm
Next on the list
Weld in cage
Alloy rad
tein rods and ends
tension rods
modified hubs or have been thinking I might go for driftworks knuckles too
camber arms front
modified S14 lca's
Nistune
Plans
Fit all of the above parts once they arrive and give the car a good service. I then want to remove all the sound deadening and paint interior.
When I have all that sorted I would like to get some 50mm wings and overfenders, some sort of a kit, a full respray.
My main focus at the moment is on handling and performance and once I have the car setup properly I will look in to getting the car resprayed and if funds allow some nice jap dishu rims.
It is inevitable that my plans will change as I progress with the build though so nothing is set in stone as of yet
Thanks for looking I will keep the thread updated as often as I can

Not much to update yet unfortunately....:o
I got the injectors flow tested during the week and they are spot on.....McNamaras in Dublin if ya need your injectors cleaned and flow tested..... Sound lads to deal with and and were good price too
I picked up some new 20 or 25mm ( I cant remember now) spacers a little while ago aswell
Some pics of the new Turbo and spacers

Need some help too....I want to get rid of as much weight as possible so I am thinking about cutting out the boot floor completely and getting rid of the standard tank(because there crap :p) and fitting a fuel cell. I think having the fuel cell stting over the subframe will benefit handling also by reducing that pendulum effect on the rear and make for a much better handling car. Whats peoples views on this and reasons why? because I know a lot of people have different opinions on this and I would like to get as much info on it as possible before I go cutting
Also i'm going to replace all the windows with polycarbonate ones aswell and cut out the doors
I know this list is going to just keep getting bigger the more time I have to think about it......:o
Good man Kyle, another money pit :)
I'll be doing the same, cutting the boot out for a cell. I'd imagine as low in the back as possible, easier to fence off then aswell and it can only be good for handling keeping it low.
Good job on the rear quarter, it's mint!

best of luck with the build lad..is it fair to ask how much it was to get the injecters done

Yeah was thinking having it lower would be better alright but on transition having all that weight behind the rear subframe will create a pendulum effect and make for worse handling?

Yeah no worries man, cost me €107.50 iirc for the 6 injectors inc. vat

@180sxbreaker - Sorry just checked there. It cost me €102.15 inc. vat for the 6 injectors to be done - works out at €17 per injector!

What about fuel cut unless the tank is more than 3/4 full. Happens me all the time?
true.my ps is the same place.driven cars with ali tanks nearly between the two towers never noticed any differance
Thanks for input. As above fuel cut is an issue, and having the tank full all the time is a good bit of extra weight too?

Have been considering this - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1930745 - but is it to good and expensive for the track use incase of damage?
driftescort
13-11-11, 21:30
Cool kit but I think it can be found cheaper than that. Also the most expensive part is nearly the R34 headlights. They go for lots of money! You will also need some BIG wheels to fill the arches.

Have been quite lazy lately and haven't got as much as I should done on this over the last couple weeks, an update none the less! :D
All the bits I had on order arrived so I got cracking taking everything out and fitting the new stuff. Got tein tension rods from driftescort which I have to say are mint! cheers dude. And got all the braided lines and fittings from murrays, which are really good quality but were €200 at "trade" apparently, not happy
http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/6408/imag0298m.jpg
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/7987/imag0328v.jpg
Started with turbo, injectors, replacing rocker cover gaskets and all screws and rubber gromits with the stainless bolt and washer kit I got. Everything out and 1 rocker cover done
http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/986/imag0290t.jpg
Went at replacing all the head studs as 1 had snapped and to no surprise another 2 snapped off when taking them out! After 2 hours of cursing they eventually came out....Can I just say that easy outs suck!!!!!! big time! Was also surprised how clean it was when I took off the rocker covers too, which is unusual for a 20+yr engine, normally you find a bit of gunk in there at least!
Made this for the turbo as the fitting is different
http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/9540/imag0300p.jpg
Have everything back in now and am just waiting on new injector plugs to arrive so I can put them back in and fit new fuel reg as the rb20 ones don't fit the sard's
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/3630/imag0297w.jpg
Have the inside of car stripped too. I removed all excess wiring from the looms, removed all the windows, cut out the doors, cut out the rear parcel shelf/panel that is in the 14's and 32's and have most of the sound deadening off.
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/9400/imag0332b.jpg

http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/2295/imag0330o.jpg
http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/374/imag0329m.jpg
After talking with a few people I have decided to run with the standard tank and scrap the fuel cell idea for now and just run a swirl pot and external pump with the standard tank.
I'm hoping to have all suspension and steering stuff...extra lock etc sorted before xmas and have the polycarb windows in too so I can get it mapped and start driving again and then put the cage in, work on the bodywork and paint it at a later date because I am going to need seat time to get better if I want to do PD 12....Hoping to be out on track before the end of Jan......Hope everything goes as planned! Peace!

What power you hoping for?
Triple plate may be too severe for the box though, Exedy 3-puk paddles are great job for the monies and good up to 400 odd brake!

I'm hoping it gets just under the 400 hundred mark lads and it'll have the right bits if I want to slap on a bigger turbo and go for more.
Hoping to have it out in January for a shakedown so I can have a couple of months to get it set up right and most importantly get used to it because I haven't drifted with anything near this power before :o

Cheers Gary, yeah I swapped it out and switched over the 5 stud hub and bearing units into the S13 knuckles so I could use the 32 diff and shafts.
Something I have been meaning to ask you actually.
Did you weld up the diff in that 200 or was it already done when you got it? Just there is a 3:9 diff in it and AFAIK the UK S13 200's came with a 4.3 diff. Trying to find out what it cam out of instead of having to open it up and see whats in there

This is where the seat should be positioned

Update time!
I sent the car to TDP on Friday morning for mapping thinking great everything is going to be great and I will have it out on Sunday......how I was wrong :( So I got a call from Robbie at around 2 letting me know that the injectors had shorted due to badly insulated wiring causing them to touch and cause a whole host of other problems.....the ecu was running in limp mode, it had caused a problem with wiring or something iirc, with the alternator causing it not to charge, blew all the fuses for the lights in dash.
Not good news for Robbie or me at this stage, but they persisted and fixed all the problems and got it ready for mapping.
Then, the worst happened.............was checking if everything was ok before going on the Dyno and the release bearing started screeching and the clutch seizing, this was at 4.45pm!!! So they then took the box out and the release bearing was on the wrong way around, schoolboy error on my part I have to admit :o very embarrassing, but hey i'm not a mechanic, just learning as I go, and its the 3rd clutch I have ever changed, luckily they managed to save the pressure plate and fitted a new release bearing and sleeve.
Anyway Robbie worked until half 10 Friday night and then mapped the car on Saturday evening for me after he came back from Mondello to get the car finished for me in time.
And the all important mapping results. Mapped on a Nistune board the car made 410hp and 375ft/lb of torque @ 1.25 bar and 375hp and 333 lb/ft of torque @ 1.08 bar. Delighted. Car is running brilliant. Is really responsive, spool is very quick and little or no lag.

Have some progress to report on this
First off thanks to both Jay & Bob @ DI motorsport for helping me out bigtime this year with the fabrication work and steering and suspension setup.
Rear fenders taped on to give an idea of the size and fitment, the fitment is perfect. Thanks to Brian @ driftkits.eu
http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/7734/imag0548j.jpg
Arches aren't cut yet and is just lightly taped on so is a bit of level but you get the idea

Bob made up the firewall and made a really great job of it too. Very happy with it the contours and shape and the joints were done extremely well leaving a perfect joint and nearly no gapping around the edges at all. Just have to run sealer along the joints which will be done shortly to get it air tight and finish it off

[First off myself and a friend of mine, who is also a member on here (Si_berry) and nearing completion too with his SR23 monster are teaming up this year and running 2 team cars. We will have some great news to post up that we received recently for the year ahead very soon!. Watch this space!!!!!!!
I have been very preoccupied lately with other stuff so I haven't had much of a chance to work on the car or get much done with it, however I still have good progress to report and I am moving along slowly but surely.
I got the car back form Gem last Thursday, as you can see from the pics i'm happy with the job he done considering the extent of the damage.
While it was up there getting fixed I decided to do something which I have wanted to do since I started the build; fit a fuel cell! So I had Gem cut out the boot floor and fit it for me, I just have to pick up some fittings for the new Bosch 909 lift pump to feed the swirl pot and plumb in the swirl pot and 2 pumps.
[B]I then stripped out the inside again when I got it back and sent it off to Portlaoise on Friday to Shane Bradley to have the cage fitted.
And in the meantime (over the last few weeks) some parts I have been waiting on for a while landed; my front over-fenders and side skirts, japspeed inner tie rod ends, and grp4 fabrications rose jointed tie rod ends.
The rod ends don't match the thread on the tie rod so I sent them off yesterday to have new pieces made up. I am also looking for a 100mm long 1/2 unf bolt if anybody knows where I can pick this up???????
I am hoping to get the car back tomorrow or Friday and then plumb in the fuel system, fit the 4 new gauges, new oil cooler, new over-fenders and wings and some other bits that need tidying before logging on Sunday in the hopes there will be practice also.
All that's left on the list then is to take it all apart for paint and then put it back together again

Shane Bradley in Portlaoise done the cage Gary.
I'm delighted with it man, its a very tidy job, the cage is tight to all the pillars and roof skin all around, his welding is top drawer and is a sound out lad to deal with most of all man. I'll send you on his number there now.
Colour will be revealed when the 2 cars are finished. I wanted to go mad and make it as different as I could but funds won't allow for it now, however we do have a pretty cool theme chosen! I'm very excited to see it finished!

yea ment to be alright didnt get much seat time in the car at all at all but ill chance it how much did your complete fuel cell set you back dude ??
Same here, not much seat time either but gonna chance it too. Still working on tweeking the car to the exact way I want it.
It depends really on what size of a fuel cell you are running. My fuel cell is 12 litres now I think so i'm thinking about ditching the swirl pot and second pump altogether because its so small but if you are running a larger fuel cell, the swirl pot and second pump would be needed so the price depends on what you want to run. For a decent sized cell, swirl pot, bosch 044 & 909 pumps and braided lines and fittings you are looking around €600 + unless you get a full setup cheaper second hand
Starting to take shape now, nice lick of paint would do wonders.
Very impressed by the cage, welding looks extremely good. How does he fair out on price? Would you mind PMing on his number please?

Like anything it depends really on what you are looking for, whether its a basic PD spec cage or something a little more elaborate, he will work with you and your budget.
Thanks dude. Yes can't wait for paint!
PM on the way

Update time.
Interior and cage have been painted and I put everything back together on the inside too. I chopped out the centre console altogether and am mounting a switch panel which I have losely mocked up. I then cut a panel for the boot to mount the fuel cell swirl pot and pumps and fitted everything in place
What i'm most happy with is the custom made rosejointed tie rods ends with fully adjustable bump steer correction that I had made up. They are adjustable from 5mm - 30mm from the hub mounting point and are made from en24t high tensile steel with Aurora AM10 T rose joints. I will have pics of these up shortly!
It might not look like it but there is still a lot to do to have it ready for punch (saying that, I do know of builds much further behind than this lol)
A few pictures of the progress. The colour is much more flourescent in person. (Love it!) Pictures don't show it great.

Having a problem with photobucket and can't get the pics the right size. My imageshack account is max'd so can't use it.
First off I have to give a big thanks to the people that have helped me out with building the car for this year, It is mostly completed bar one or 2 small things that need to be finished.
Firstly Jay and Bob at DI motorsport who have helped me out in massive amounts with steering setup, suspension setup, fabrication and wiring and i'm sure there is more I can't remember too!
Much appreciated lads, can't say thanks enough to yas!
Shane Bradley / Bradley Custom Fabrication for part sponsorship on the cage for myself and Simon this year
Tyresdublin.ie / Squarefit Ltd / Tyreandservicesuperstores.com for tyre sponsoprship this year.
And last but not least Karl Maher and Jonny McCormick for pulling all the late nights and all nighters with me thoughout the year and to anyone else who has helped me throughout the year.
I'm hoping that I can start focusing on seat time now and getting used to the car and getting it setup right and improving on my driving.
Here is some pictures of the final stages and the finished car.
Thanks for following the thread

I was thinkin of doing something like this also but wouldnt it affect the cars rigidity?? therefore its handling?

I ended up going ahead with this. Got rid of the tank cut out the boot floor and fitted a 20 litre cell as close to the subframe and between the towers as possible. It does not affect the rigiditly of the car and makes it lighter on the rear end and improves handling. Check out near the end of the thread and you will see

Pics sorted now too
oh nice.. N is your kit riveted on or glued?
Cuz someone was sayin if rivets are used they start to crack from the rivets if anything bumps it a little

Fenders and arches are done with rivets. Haven hear of anybody glueing them on before. Cant imagine them fitting if you were to use glue to be honest, they require a bit of stretching and messing around with to get them perfect. Its a drift car its going to get a bump and crack anyway. Just dont be hitting off it and it won't crack

Hmm still think the only way to lighten the back end is like how we done the white one!!!
Looks great kyle , when will ye get it out next?
Had those arches bolted down to a s13 before , some cracks alright but minor, just put bigger washers on

I haven't posted anything up here in a while so a little update. I got out for punchestown and a half day in mondello since I have it finished but my driving hasn't been great. I'm finding a little hard to get use to the car and setup. It has been setup with lots of grip on the rear on the last alignment which is just how I wanted it but I reckon i'm going to have to scale it back and then dial it in slowly and ease myself into it. And the tap in tullow put the s**** up me a bit I think!
Anyway here is some pics of the bump steer correction tie rod ends I had made up to fit with the Japspeed tie rods. Bump steer correction is adjustable in 5mm increments up to 30mm.

This has reduced the lock somewhat as the tie rod ends are now reaching the lower arm sooner because of their increased size and length.
I will be looking at getting something done with the lower arms shortly to eliminate this

Car is off getting some tlc before the weekend over at DI motorsport.
New gearbox in, new floor pans getting installed, rear wheels getting spaced out to try and fill the arches along with some changes to the suspension and steering setup, polycarb windows removed and sealed (didn't get around to doing them the first time in the rush), removing a few other parts and cleaning them up and painting them (also didn't get done previously in the rush for completion).
Have a Dmax spoiler waiting to go on too so should be looking a bit more aggressive now with a few small changes :afro:

Haven't posted here in a while
Car has had a remap and a few exterior changes since I last posted up here. pics below
I also picked up a japspeed engine damper of slithrtooth yesterday and some new front and rear polyurethane anti roll bar bushings to complete the arb as it has the drop links already. Hopefully be fitting them in the next couple days.
Doesn't look like it will sell this side of xmas so I want to get out for one more practise day and then start stripping for the winter rebuild. Will be getting proper paint job this time round hopefully!
Thats all for now

My first time on here in over a year....
I bought this back a couple of months ago. Rear end is in very rough shape and engine needs building. Going to be getting full engine build.
I'm unsure whether to chop the rear end off completely and tube it or do a re shell.
Anyway will be slow progress as I haven't went near it since I got it back
Will update when I get going on it :-)
