Well folks thought I'd start a bitve a thread, not gonna really be a build thread as such, just a few bits I'm thinkin of doin.
Most of yis know the car it's cliff off here's old chaser.

Just got her today and am addicted to that 1j goodness already! :D

So plans are to do a bitve a tidy up on the paintwork, just some annoyin marks nothin serious.

Engine wise lookin at a single turbo conversion... Hks 2835 possibly and then he supporting mods to go with it injectiors ecu etc...

Haven't done much with her since buyin her, got two new back tyres and had her lined but they made a balls outve it so gonna try get her over to wez to get it done right. Need a new windscreen for mot so if anyone knows where I'd get one handy wud be good....

Bitve an update, been gathering up few bits over the last couple of months. On the way from the Japan;

Roof spoiler
New windscreen
Kts rear camber arms

Also bought a TRD 2 way off chuck g there so will get that collected and in over Christmas. Have the front bumper in Gettin fibreglassed and patched up then hopefully a full respray.

The s14a is supposed to be goin to Germany in a couple of weeks so that could fund the single turbo conversion, ecu etc..

Will throw a few pics up when she's tidied up!

Bitve an update on this, car is currently in getting a full respray. There was too many different places she needed tidied so i said i may as well do it right.

We discovered the car had taken a tight slap on the passenger side when we removed the rear bumper, so it was filled and smoothed out in the rest of the quarter.

After months of searching i found a windscreen thanks to Julian in Garage D, its one outve a jzx100. Problem is now im gonna be too afraid to drive the thing in caseit gets broken!

Looking for an elbow, downpipe, decat and a fuel pressure regulator now to get a bit more power, been told that this set up should give about 330-350 bhp but the torque figures are supposed to be big so im gonna give it a go!

Got the car back from paint last week, first thing to do was to give her a service. I dont have a pit or lift so i usually use the teleporter, its as handy as any!

New oil filter and 15w-50 silkolene, Kazz diff oil and Silkolene pro srg 75 gear oil makes sure everything is well lubed up for another while.

So I bought a set of rims for herself last week. Theyre not really the type of rim I was thinkin of but I tried them on a and liked them so I said I'd take them. I'd say they'll grow on me, they're Work VS FD 18x9 +9 and 18x8 +9.

Not sizes to set the world on fire but they fit the car perfect, plus the fronts bein a narrow enough wheel but a decent offset they clear the arms no problem. The rears will fit the back with no spacers and a tasty bit of camber.

I haven't got any pics of them at the minute, but they're in good nick, near new in fact so hopefully they'll do the car justice when fitted. Will throw pics up at the weekend.

Not a very cheery update this time....

Have been using the car as a daily since i got it resprayed and was really enjoying it, but last week the gearbox started to cry, which in turn made me cry. So today i bit the bullet and said id take it out.

Not something ive done before but i said id give it a go.

So up she went on the teleporter again, had to put her on some scaffolding as i wouldnt get the box out with the forks in the way.

And after a lot of cursing, bust knucles and some help from the lads on here it was out. There was a bit more to it than i thought, had to tilt the front of the engine with another bottle jack to get enough clearance to get it slid back. I think im going to have to invest in a proper hoist for the garage but till then my new trolley jack will have to do!

I think im going to bring the box to Davy Byrne in Wexford to get it rebuilt, he came highly recommended and he does a lotve work on both rally and drift cars.

Hopefully should be back on the road in a couple of weeks.

I actually don't know lad but I got a quote from a crowd in Dublin for 450-600e for parts and labour. So id be thinkin hed be in around the same. It's a good few quid but you've a new box more or less after it

Well there's good news on the gearbox front, i brought it to Davy Byrne in Wexford and he says all the bearings and synchros etc are perfect. All he found was a slight bit of damage to first gear which would cause it to slip out of gear in the future.

Problem is now finding where the noise is coming from, it's not the diff as it's not whining all the time, so going to attack it tomorrow, take the clutch out and check the release, thrust bearings etc...

At least i know now that the box is fine...

Small update... Had lost all heart in the car over the last while but I have it back now!!

Just put a deposit down on a HKS gt pro 2835 kit. It has the manifold, all the intercooler, decat and downpipes, oil lines and all the bits an bobs to get it on.

Will be putting 550's and hopefully a HKS Fcon and then off for a map when funds allow. Can't wait to collect it and get it fitted!

Got my gearbox back in today, went on handy enough, getting the pin and clip back on inside the bell housing was another story though... Patience well tested!!

So when I had that done I tackled into takin the twin turbos, manifold etc off. Another job that is not too handy, should have it all off tomoro morning and then it's single turbo time...

Picked up the hks turbo kit yesterday, it's a 2835 gt pro kit, internally wastegated with a 0.64 A/R housing so it should spool up nice an early and it's rated to 450-500 bhp.

Need a fuel pump, 550's and an ecu now and it's off to TDP I'd say for mapping.

Waiting on a few gaskets from toyota and then should get it on by next week.

Finished taking the twins off today and got the other one on just loose and lined up the intercooler piping etc... its a lot tidier job than all the pipes and shit that the twins had.

I have a question though, when i took off the twins there were no gaskets on either, instead the cast has a recess all the round where a gasket would usually be. I split the elbow from the hks turbo and it has the same set up, is this the norm for 1j manifolds etc?

Dont want to bolt it all together and then have a blowout somewhere! All advice welcome!

I think il get a safe map done so it's still drivable on the road. I'd be happy with 420 or so, it should have bags of torque though!

Small update on this, got my gaskets eventually so got the turbo fitted and most of the lines plumbed in, just a couple left that im not sure where to redirect or blank off etc..

Fitted the hks elbow and downpipe, the decat i got made up and japspeed cat back. Should be a good free flowing system but id say its gonna be very loud.

Turbo is rated for 450 or so, I'd be happy if it makes 420 on average enough boost, don't want to end up with a rebuild. Should be very responsive and have good torque

Got injectors sorted, 555 densos and also got another nice little upgrade, some uk spec 2jz cams. Both of these thanks to damodeane, very sound man to deal with.

Hopefully the cams will improve power across the rev range, will know by Friday hopefully!

Got the car back today, only got it mapped safe as I need to get a resistor pack to fit the injectors. It made 370bhp at 1.2 bar so hopefully when the injectors are in and a bigger map sensor plus the 2j cams it should be well over the 400 mark.

Can't praise Richard highly enough, he had awful hardship between hoses splitting and so on. The car is driving like a dream, falling in love with it all over again!

@ Darren yea it's a different kinda power now than before. The turbo spools so early it nearly feels like a big n/a like an e46 m3 or somethin. There's no massive kick of boost it's just power there all the time. Should be a bit more violent when it's at 1.4 or so.

Been using this for getting to and from work lately, drove it the length and breadth of the country and it's goin like a bomb.

Filled it the other day and have done nearly 600k and there's still 1/4 tank in it! That's mixed driving, acting the bollox and long motorway spins combined. Very very happy with the job Richard done on the mapping, would highly recommend him!

Cheers seanie. Got an apexi 3 bar map sensor sorted and the resistor pack for the injectors so next weekend off work will get her back to Richard and get it finished.

Next thing to go now are the coilpacks.. Can feel a slight stutter sometimes when on full acceleration so they'll need done.. The joys!

Finally got a windscreen sorted, brand new from Japan. Wasnt mad money either. So next thing is to get it in and get her motd at taxed and onto northern plates.

Have all the bits sorted for going back in to get mapped. Pouring no more money into it, I think it's done.

Just a small bit of an interior update, got another Recaro for the passengers side. Swapped the my hand controller plus a few bob for it with Eoin. Came with a Recaro rail and it's mint. Cheers Eoin!

A shitty update this time, the turbo has shit itself so I'm on the lookout for a replacement, hks, holsett, precision etc... Anything considered. I have a wanted ad up but no joy yet. Will probably end up buying a new core for it if I can't find a handy replacement.

This is parked up at home now as I'm away with work. Haven't got a turbo sorted for it yet and lost all interest in it.

So I think I have a turbo sorted now, away with work but gonna get on it as soon as I get back as the car is goin on the D.I stand at Mondello. Goin with Garrett 3071 or 3076, should get even better power than the hks one on it before.

Old pic, get it shined up like this and get it as low and cambered as I can that it'll still make it to mondello!

Ah now it's nothin special lad won't look like much beside the likes of yours I'd say. There's a few runs of laquer in it since it was sprayed that I never got rubbed out, need to get that done and front bumper fixed up too. Get it lookin respectable!

Heading to Gripfab to order a new 3071r on Monday so should have this up and going in a couple of weeks.

Need to sort out the wheel fitment too, never was a big one for "stance" but I may make an effort for mondello live.

Front needs lowered a little and maybe a slip on spacer and some camber. The rear is very low as is, exhaust scrapes a good bit.

It has a 35 tyre on it but it needs to go another 10mm before its near the tyre, should I chance a 40 tyre instead? Also will prob go with a slip on spacer and some camber here also.

Got her back from getting turbo fitted today. As usual Richard done a top job on it. he had to fab up an elbow for it as the hks one wouldn't fit it. He was very busy so hadnt time to map it etc. It's goin perfect as is but fuck me it's loud!!

Was going to lower it decided not to bother, it would make it nearly undrivable with how low the exhaust sits on these. Not worth havin it if cant drive it.
